Despite the Arsenal hype – Wenger simply won’t change

What has Arsene done to deserve a 2 year extension? by Konstantin Mitov

Hello fine Arsenal people from around the world! Latest reports suggest Arsene will be staying for another 2 years – something we’ve known for a while. Question for me is, has he deserved it though? On the basis of this season – no. On the basis of 10 years – still no! Is he getting it though? Yes he is.

So watching the Champions league yesterday, it was incredible. So fast paced, so full of energy. A tactical masterclass battle, between two of the best teams in the world. One thing to notice was how both managers were always on the touchline! Arsene is always on the bench. Sitting there clueless as to how the change the game. They say “Managers earn their money at half time”. We’ve not turned around a game since forever!

But back to the Champions league, what I really liked was how people were chasing every ball and I remember quite a few sliding tackles that saved almost certain goals. And the ball was moving fast. We are slow in midfield. Ramsey, Xhaka and Coquelin slow us down with too many touches on the ball. I saw Isco a few times make surging runs, which only the Ox has shown in our midfield, but we stuck him back on the wing.

So despite us using a new system and Arsene stating in the post-match interview that he “can still change after 20 years”, we’re still at least 5-10 years off Europe’s elite. And despite the changed formation, this was Middlesbrough. Will Arsene stick with the new formation and get players that would suit it? I doubt it.

That’s further proved by the fact we might sign Schalke left back Kolasinac. I think we’ll revert to the system Arsene knows and all the change stuff we’re hearing now is just to get his new contract over the line. We’ll need to spend massively this summer to improve the squad, especially if Alexis and Ozil leave, which is the likeliest outcome.

Funny thing is, Arsene sometimes does the right thing, but it’s always too little too late. We offered Van Persie 140k to stay on his last year. Why didn’t we do it the year before and tie him down instead of letting him go to Man United though? Why did we leave Ozil and Alexis in the same situation? We could offer them more earlier, instead of needing to offer them the absurd sums to keep them now.

Arsene also finally picked his best side against West Brom, but were so low on confidence we still lost 3:0. Arsene even hits the subs right in some of the games, but always there is something missing. He can speak of change all he wants, but truth is, the fact he just sits on the bench hasn’t changed in ages. Neither have the late subs changed. The coaching staff is also the same since forever.

Arsene doesn’t like opinions of others. He has to realise what most people see months or even years before him, the hard way. He refused to have Henry, because Thierry doesn’t believe Giroud is good enough and questions Arsene desire to add characters. This is why we won’t appoint a director of football. The board basically go “Hey Arsene, do you want some help with that?” and he’s like “No, this is my club, MINE! I build it, brick by brick.”

Pathetic. I really thought missing out on the top 4 would get rid of him, but unless we unite and force him out, he’ll stay and ruin us for as long as he wants.

  1. Unfortunately Wenger will be manager of Arsenal for the foreseeable future simply because the Board and our American owner don’t give a damn about winning trophies of any sort, they are only interest is in how much money Wenger can generate for the club. And until the fans who attended matches week in week out home and away decide enough is enough and start returning their season tickets or not attending matches and there are a lot of empty seats, and the revenue starts to decline, then perhaps something will be done, so until then we’re stuck with him whether we like it or not.

    1. Even if we got shot of wenger, kroenke would simply look for a wenger in the making type person to replace him.

Quite why anyone expects a man approaching his 70s to stand in the freezing cold waving his arms about is beyond me. At that age he should be sitting in the stands like fergie, with a blanket, big purple nose and a hip flask.

  2. I wonder if we’ll see a 262 against City? ?

    Giroud
Sanchez Ozil Xhaka Ramsey Coquelin Walcott
    Koscielny Gabriel
    Cech

We need to dominate the middle!

    1. Not a bad line up, but I would have ox instead of walcott, lol.

      Wenger will choose

      Giroud
      Ozil Alexis
      Chamberlain xhaka ramsey
      Monreal koscielny Gabriel Bellerin
      Cech

Martinez, gibbs, Mertesacker, coquelin, elneny, walcott, Welbeck or iwobi

    2. Sometimes we do actually look a bit like that.
      ………………..Cech
      …………………..Koscielny
      …………………………………………..
      ………Mustafi…………………………
      …………………………………………..
      ………………Xhaka…………Monreal
      ………Coquelin………………………..
      Bellerin…………….Ozil…..Alexis…..
      ………Walcott…Giroud………………

  3. How can this club in their right minds offer this FRAUD a new 2 year deal. It is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard in my life. If he is still here next year im canceling my cable tv package cause i aint staying up all night and going to work the next day with 1 or 2 hours sleep to watch this shit anymore. This club has broken me this year. The squad to win major silverware is there this FRAUD just doesn’t knkw how to get the best out off them. He is to soft needs to grow some balls. The board need to grow a pair as well and get rid off him. This team under his leadership is embarrassing this year.
    #WENGER OUT
    #NO NEW CONTRACT
    #BOARD OUT
    #ALLEGRI IN
    #VIERA HENRY & BERGKAMP
Love the team hate the regime

    1. I agree 100% but unfortunately our American “absent” owner is only in it to make money, you only have to look at all his other franchises in the US to see that, he moves clubs from one location into another without a thought for the fans who have to travel that extra distance. But I also read an article where it was mentioned how much he would make if he decided to sell Arsenal and walk away, so what does that say about him!! I wouldn’t mind if Usmanov bought him out, but I’ll probably be shot down for saying it. Arsenal has become a money cow and even the Board don’t give a damn, only in how much can they milk out of it to line their already overloaded pockets.

    2. Viera Henry and Berkamp while great players do not have any experience of managing teams at the top level. Why would they suddenly turn Arsenal around?

  4. The fans must unite, like you say, and force him out. Inaction from the fans down the years has contributed to the mess we’re now in, and I lay the blame solely at the feet of the AKBs! It’s amazing that even now, when we’ve hit rock bottom, protesting is still frowned upon, and they still get abuse from the delusional AKB’s. So how much worse does it have to get before we’re allowed to try and force change without fear of reprisal?

  5. I actually believe he will sign – but for longer than two years because the board don’t want to be going through the same hassles in twelve months time.
Fan protests clearly have had no effect whatsoever with no comments from the board at all so I say don’t bother going to the matches. The board clearly have far stronger ties with the bank manager and accountant than they do with the paying punters so stop paying. Let them panic when they are faced with falling revenue and the hugely inflated wages of rubbish like Ozil.
I cannot actually believe I just spent five minutes of my time typing this out – thats five minutes I will never get back..

  6. Arsenal are in trouble right now and have been since Kroenke took over.

    No ambition/ No clue.

Wenger Out and down with Satan kroenke!

  7. Ozil won’t leave, he’d sign now if they put it in front of him. When Alexis says I’m not signing lets see how the season goes and then we’ll talk in January, we’ll have to sell. Then when everyone is saying there goes Alexis now it’s Ozil’s turn, Arsenal will get him signed to shout out the noise of people saying same old Arsenal we can’t keep big players. I feel it’s gonna go in that order.

  8. Fans wont change as well. Arsenal is not meant to compete nor to be a proper football club. Wenger is here to make money, and fans are only good enough to keep on paying

  9. we love arsenal not arsene. enough is enough. how can he be so stubborn and do not resign. i am sure he knows what we supporters likes. good managers do not sit all the game and moan with the 4th official, but encourage and give ideas to players from the touch line. should we finish 4th (most probably mission impossible) it would still not guarantee champions league place if man u wins the europa league. gooner = forever

  10. Confirmed by France Football and L’Équipe, Wenger has already signed a 2 years extension to his stay at Arsenal with a revalorisation of his wages. Why not? You guys are paying for it. Did we really expect anything different?

I am amused by those fans who wants Wenger out and Kroenke out. How can you remove the main shareholder in the club unless “you” personally have the money to pick up his shares??

For the Wenger out squad, it is not difficult to start the process, just do what I did 3 years ago. I bought my season ticket, but after a month I felt like a mug and asked for a refund. It was complicated as they did not want to comply. Got my money back and have not set foot in the Emirates since then.
Instead of running like “dummies” to get your tickets every season, let see if you have change when the team is playing in an empty stadium.
Banners and shouting do nothing. If I was Wenger on £8millions (well, now £10millions… “Suckers”) I would not care about the fans insulting of the paper banners.

We all know he is incompetent and it won’t change. He is not going to rediscover his tactical genius (if he had any) and ruthlessness. He is 67, he should be retired, he is doing that because he had nothing else.

If you want changes, you need to hit the purse… Simple! It is never going to happen because Arsenal fan base his mostly “balls less”. They rather cry when “destroyed” by top clubs and cheers the occasional “little” victory.

Another thing, those fans running after the players cars to get an autograph… That is pathetic! Those players could not care less about you or the club… Check the results people?

  11. I have said it before if Wenger signs a new contract I will stop following Arsenal until he and or Kroenke are gone. It is already difficult for me to respect or to identify with the way this club is opporated but if Wenger signs a new contract which he will in all likelihood, my last bit of respect or love for all things Arsenal will be gone.

I have always respected Pep although I don’t think he is a God but if Wenger stays I would like Pep to succeed at City and he has convinced me of his burning desire to push his team forward and of his lack of fear to pursue the world’s best players for his clubs. That would be the closest thing to how I saw Arsenal 15 years ago.

Could never support Mourinho, respect Chelsea but not my type of organization, love Klopp but Liverpool doesn’t do it for me, Spurs out of the question so this would leave Everton or City for me.

  12. FFS Jansen I had to read your post 3 times to make sure I understood what you are saying. So you have supported Arsenal for 15 years and because of what is happening you are ow looking to change allegiance to another team! I have supported Aresenal for over 60 years and believe me I have seen some bad times, far worse than the current load of rubbish and a manager outstaying his welcome, but never ever thought of supporting another team. So go fu@k off and support Everton or City or both, and don’t come back when the good times return, because they will return but it won’t be because of you , but to spite you.
    Lord give me strength!!

    1. Hahaha! I have supported Arsenal for more than 25 years. Not the point of my post.

I just can’t get myself to promote and support a club who take their fans for fools. Neither am I willing to bring my money or valuable free time to a billionaire owner and multi-millionaire manager who have zero interest in returning my effort by being ambitious enough to actually make an effort to win the PL let alone correct their short comings.

If fans like you want to keep this dynamic in place by continuing to bring your money and time to
these wealthy individuals that’s your right. And I won’t tell you fu@k you very much for keeping this sick dynamic going, it is your right. But it does tell me something about you, as it would tell me something about myself if I continue to complain about this manager and owner yet at the same time continue to support their pockets (be it directly or indirectly).

Wenger stays, I am gone even if you would prefer me to stay in this dysfunctional relationship with you and complain for an other year about the same old things or be asked to praise Wenger’s greatness even if it is in the past.

  14. Arsenal have been slipping since Dein left and if people think swapping Wenger will fix all the problems then they are being idiotic.

We need someone on the board who understands football and will answer to the club, not manager because the board have no clue about football.

Dein use to be the man getting new managers, now who?
Wenger because the board put Gazidis in charge of Deins old role and is a spineless City supporter?

I hope we get someone like Marc Overmars.
Someone who understands football and can be trusted to get a strong manager and not a spinless one as they will be hired by a spineless muppet.

Let Gazidis do a rush job on getting Wengers replacement or get someone who has a good reputation where he is and let them have 12 months to look for Wengers replacement….

I like a job well done thanks, I will take the 2 years and see a top manager come in rather than get a Wenger clone because that’s what the board will need.
