Di Maria warns United to watch out for Arsenal’s “key player” Alexis

I suppose it would be very easy for anyone to pinpoint Alexis Sanchez as Arsenal’s most dangerous player this season, but Man United’s Angel Di Maria probably knows him better than anyone else after facing him in nine competitive games since 2011 in Spain and internationals between Argentina and Chile.

Di Maria made his point clear on ManUtd.com: “Sanchez is a player who has been in some great form this season and since he came to Arsenal he hasn’t stopped scoring or creating goals.” he said. “He’s been tremendous and seems to be the key player for Arsenal. When he plays well, they seem to play well too.

“We’ve seen him in various games. If he gets hold of the ball and does what he can with it, then that works well for Arsenal. We have to keep a close eye on him and try to prevent him from creating openings with his passing as we know that every time he gets to run at you he can create danger.”

Sanchez may have had a lean spell for a while after his explosive start to the season, but the Chilean found his scoring boots again in Tuesday’s clash at West Ham, and hopefully will go on another great run for the Gunners.

So far the score between Di Maria and Sanchez stands at 5-4 to the United man. It seems to me that it is time for Alexis to even up the score again on Monday…..

  1. Di maria is right! Man u has to “beware of alexis” and his bag of tricks on the field! Coyg!

  2. oh dear…hasnt the City game taught you anything? you try and double up on Alexis, our little magician Santi will run the show…u try stopping him, in steps Mozart with his bag of skills!!
not to mention our Coq is harder and stronger than before!
    COYG!

      1. Hope welbeck doesn’t start. Don’t mind rosicky starting. He is quite the player. Hope carzola’s head is with it. Truly the only thing that can stop him.

  3. Off topic: seriously i miss arteta so much in our midfield. I know cazorla has been brilliant – drifting and dribbling pass players, creating chances.. but he is definitely played out of position. Our midfield looked so unbalanced and players simply had no clue how to control the tempo of plays and keep possession.

    1. Behave.
Arteta was directly responsible for some of our heavy losses last year, his legs are gone and he doesn’t have the pace to cover mistakes or faster players (everyone) running straight past him.

He did a stint in midfield but his time is over, move on and get a good player in the summer.
We are Arsenal, we should have players at the standard of: Progba, Bender, Shinderlin etc.

Anyway with Le Coq playing and Ramsey back, where would Arteta play?

  4. Keep it down, guys. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Remember, Rhino and Wojceich-Bite-me are starting on Monday.

  5. The result completely depends on if we want to win. If we play like we can play, United will have no chance. Going forward, both teams have game changers. However, our defence is far more solid. Would’ve thought United would play a back four of Valencia, Rojo, Jones and Young (or maybe Smalling at CB). Either way, if they fancy it, players like Özil, Cazorla, Alexis and Rosicky could unlock that with their eyes closed.

  6. Even we cannot underestimate di maria, stats wise or goal wise he may not be setting the league alight but he has been producing some good crosses , if man united strikers were in good form , di maria’s assists number will be increasing. This is why I am happy RVP is not there. He would have troubled us. We have to close down rooney and hope falcao doesnt wake up on monday.

  7. To utilize Alexis to the fullest .. Pls wenger play him behind the striker as a SS.

U can use Ox/Rosicky/Welbeck on the left wing.

And we have to beware of Rooney… Alexis impact through the middle camcels out Degea’s threat

  8. Well yes that goes without saying. I mean I consider him the best winger in PL (okay a bit biased)

Personally, I would prefer that they ignore Alexis lol but they would be mad to do that.

At same time we shouldnt underestimate Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney, Mata.

We can underestimate RVP because he isn’t playing lol
