Do Alexis stats show Arsenal have a new Henry?

The former Gunners and France international star Thierry Henry was a lot younger than the current Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez was when the two players began their careers with Arsenal. So it is unlikely that the Chilean is going to be able to get close to the Frenchman’s club record of 226 goals with 174 in the Premier League alone.

Henry had eight full seasons as a Gunner and Alexis would have to be still here whe he is 33-years old to match that and he would have to play brilliantly and consistently for the whole time to have any chance of the record. But as reported by Metro the stats show that the 27-year old has made a very good start.

The win over Chelsea this weekend was his 100th game for the club and he scored his 47th goal which is just one fewer than Henry managed after 100. There are other similarities as well, especially if Wenger continues to use Alexis as a centre forward because Henry also started on the flank before Wenger moved him inside.

Don’t forget that Alexis had a disappointing last season by his standards, with fitness and injury issues affecting his form. This year he is already off to a flier, with five goals in the last five games and if he carries on like that and stays fit he could get close to the 32 managed by Henry in his third season.

Do you think Arsenal may finally have found a striker to fill the boots of the great man?

  1. My only concern about this squad is that sooner or later Ramsey will come and spoil show for us. The coach favorite.

    1. Elneny, Xhaka and Cazorla will lose form eventually, someone needs to step in. Ramsey is still a vrry good player. Id rather have Ramsey than Arteta or Flamini.

      1. Ramsey thrives on movement around him, he just might give us another awesome season like he did three or four years ago since our game has become a lot more fluid than seasons past.

      2. Yes but knowing mr. Wenger, Ramsey is better than anyone if he is on the bench, he is only down the pecking order only when he is injured.. so just waiting when the Wenger’s son to comes back and watch what the manager will do

      3. look at the way u said it like Xhaka and Cazorla are just like some average players.. and Cazorla doesn’t lose form, the only thing he can lose is fitness.
        ..
Ramsey as a backup, rotation option is fine, what the lad meant was when Ramsey returns Wenger ll find a way to force him into the starting XI thereby displacing a player that doesn’t deserve to be benched and alter the team chemistry again.

  2. When there’s a sense of urgency in the team, Alexis generally plays well. The general quickness of movement upfront reminded of this game me of our Arsenal-ManU game at the Emirates last season. Unfortunately, we didn’t replicate that performance anywhere else then. I hope we are able to replicate such performances again & again & again…

      1. Arsenal always know how to beat City when they wanna be serious even with the two deficiencies of Per and Giroud in the team, beating City or Guardiola has never been as uphill a task as beating Chelsea, United or Mourinho.

        1. @Wilshegz – no one has been able to express EXACTLY my standpoin than you just did. It doesnt matter who is in charge of City…..we have always managed to beat them – and we did that again at the pre-season friendly with Pep in charge. But for Chelsea and ManU…Oops….I just hope this is the season.

  3. Alexis just wants to win and he tries as hard as he could and plays in other players. it’s a complete team play with him upfront. Notice Alexis has 4 goals, Walcott 3, Ozil 2 and there is a lot of other players with one goals each. With Giroud the game one dimensional and easily containable by the opposite side. If Wenger replaces Sanchez with Giroud, i will feels he has grown to fear success. Sanchez is performing, but he brings his teammates along in his performances. Perez may just copy-paste Sanchez when he comes on albeit with a slightly different set of skills. for me he is the one who should be coming in to replace Sanchez in games we have won in the first half to keep Sanchez from burning himself out…

    1. And yes… Henry too just wanted to win and did try as hard as he could…It could be a new Thierry Henry if Wenger doesn’t meddle with a winning set-up now in place by bringing in Giroud and moving Sanchez back wide….

    1. You need to watch Arsenal Vs Hull game again……exactly same AlixOzil combination….they way Ozil sprinted into the box was like a Hussian Bolt’s

      1. You need to watch Arsenal Vs Hull game again……exactly same AlexOzil combination-(leading to a goal by Ozil)….they way Ozil sprinted into the box was like a Hussian Bolt’s

  4. I was right about Walcott coming good this season and now Its time to Unleash the Postman SanogOAL’s!! ⚽
This Boy will deliver the goods on time. ?

  5. What happened to Wenger you’re deluded just play them in natural position. Alexis, I was seriously beginning to think people weren’t noticing how awesome he’s been. He hasn’t been getting the motm award and for me he is easily our player of the month, well I say easily but Theo and Iwobi have been terrific too. Then there’s Coq Cazorla and Kos, but Alexis for has been the stand out star.

    1. Hahaha ? ?
Make a statement and stick to it LOL.?
Talk about covering all your bets! First you want to point a finger at other fan’s old comments and then you add half the team to Sanchez as been the player of the month. ??
And I thought that Wenger was the king of Indecisive lol ?
It’s as if the fan’s on here are now afraid of being thumbed down lol ? Hahaha Watch out! ? If you get thumbed down 20 times or more the JustArsenal men in black will pay you a visit lol.? and you don’t want that. ????
It’s getting boring reading the stating the obvious comments with added bumlick ?… it’s getting as bad as ArseBlog. STOP IT! ?

  6. the good news today is Kevin DE Bruyne is out for at least 4weeks and guess what in the next fortnight, City face Spurs,Everton,Barca,Soton,United n United (EFL) while ours is Burnley,Swansea, Sunderland, Ludogorets,Boro,Reading(EFL) – very winnable especially in our form,Alexis form upfront and squad depth.

  7. average league position of team City have won against (Bournemouth, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, West Ham n United) so far is 15.3.
    .
aside United the rest are among the worst performing teams this season

  8. Next 4 EPL games can get us to the top of the league.
So after the disappointing loss to Liverpool, we now have won 5 and drawn 2. In the process we have beaten Hull and Watford away(Forest away), Chlelsea and Southampton Home, Drawn with PSG and Leiscter.
I thing its a rich Vein of form.
This season the team that wants to be Champion needs huge consistency, we have now won 4 in a row.
It will be clear soon but I think the race for the top will be between city, pool and us

  9. they have an Alexis Sanchez, warming up in the new roll, henry works for sky sports part time and assistant coach to Belgium or is it the other way around.
