Does Arsenal’s disappointing draw highlight Cazorla importance?

Arsenal succumbed to a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough this weekend, and some people would even say we were lucky with the one point we received.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka claimed his side should have won the match, and if it wasn’t for Petr Cech’s heroics, we most likely would have lost, but the same could also be said for Victor Valdes, who denied us with some super saves also.

That draw however ended a run of seven consecutive wins in all competitions, and the main change in the starting line-up came in midfield. Santi Cazorla picked up an injury in midweek against Ludogorets, a game in which you could argue he needn’t have played in.

We left our weekend’s home tie against Boro wondering how it was the visitors who created the most clear-cut chances, and the only reason in my head is that the Spanish midfielder was missing.

Mesut Ozil is widely considered to be the most important player for our side, due to his immense consistency last season in creating goals and goalscoring opportunities, while some may say that Alexis is central to us this term due to his switch to centre-forward which has worked wonders for our side.

Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny are deserved of their nominees for most important player also however, for their performances and consistency as well as the leadership that they bring with that, but I would argue that Cazorla is the unsung hero at times.

Who do you rate as the most important piece of the Arsenal puzzle?

  1. Absolutely

We missed Cazorla big time last season. We just were not the same without him
We missed Coquelin too but Eleney and Flamini did an admirable job

Cazorla is our best box2box player imo
He owns Central midfield along with Coquelin and Ozil

  2. Too difficult to pick one from that bunch. Coquelin is hands down our best midfield ball winner, and DM is really important. Cech is our best GK, one of the best in the league, a top GK is always crucial to a PL winning team. Bellerin, who could replace him, we’d have to pay allot of money to get a proper replacement. Ozil, even when he’s not assisting he’s still starting allot of plays and helps us to keep the ball. At the moment he and Theo are probably our two most clinical. Koscielny, he’s still the best maybe in the whole division, how many times has he saved our ass. Cazorla, we should have a better song for him, big big player. Alexis, he can do so many great things. I wouldn’t be able to pick one.

  3. A tie in that game was huge, but in retrospect we could’ve rested cazorla/sanchez and Walcott during the Ludogarets game.

  4. carzola vision and capabilities of distribution a tow legged player with Middlesbrough game we were short on distribution elnany is a tidy player his distribution is accurate and safe i think he lacks confidence and is to afraid to commit a fault I am not sure if he can lob the balls in so he should practice on the training ground and seek advice from carzola We have players that can do that job though in the likes of xaka ramsey Alexis and ozil that can distribute the ball so in essence it would be better to deploy any of them to do carzolas job and on another note I believe in team work
