Does Arsene Wenger need to see a psychiatrist for his OCD?

I think Arsene Wenger needs help, I really do, read on… by GW

We have had a summer of absurd Wenger contradictions, well his post match conference yesterday convinced me he really is no longer the full shilling. He seems to think he can only improve the team with better players, of which there are none, except of course what he buys.

Last season we loaned out Debuchy, Gnabry, Sanogo, and Chezzer and brought in Cech and Elneny, so we bought no one, 2 in, 4 out. Minus 2. This season we loaned out Chezzer and Campbell, sold Hayden and let Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta go. Although Hayden was an academy player I didn’t include Toral, Zelalem, Crowley, Maitland Niles and all the other academy players we loaned out. All the above are supposed first teamers. Then we buy Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Asano, (who’s name doesn’t appear anywhere on the team sheets and hasn’t even got a work permit). So simple maths says 6 out 3 in and by the time we get to the end of the week we should have bought Mustafi but sold Debuchy.

Since we moved to a new stadium to compete with the Man United’s of this world (Wenger’s words, not mine) we have had a net spend of £109.2 million. That’s £10 million a season. Man City by contrast have a net spend of £1080.3 million. That’s over a billion folks, and really makes the economists claims of moving well worth the pain of moving, and yes, I was being massively sarcastic.

Wenger said yesterday that he was sorry he didn’t spend £55mil on Rob Holding, interesting comment, if he thinks Rob Holding is worth a lot of money then why did he haggle with Bolton and only offer them £750k? We almost lost him like we did Cahill. What a very silly man.

Why has he waited 3 weeks since the injuries we had, to almost sign someone who is Ozil’s best mate? Why has he waited since April (when Welbeck got injured) to buy a forward? And still we haven’t had one.

Does he not see that we have lost Petit, Vieira, Overmars, Anelka, Henry, Fabregas, Nasri and RVP to Wenger’s lack of ambition, next up will be Sanchez and Ozil. Surely now the Arsenal board will not renew his contract and us fans can look forward to having a manager on board that at least spends his budget and addresses his problem areas?

Finally, many people think that our manager is stubborn, being stubborn is often seen as an admirable trait, I think being stubborn, or obstinate is very close to having OCD. This is the definition of OCD. You decide.

A psychiatric disorder characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions, such as cleaning, checking, counting, or hoarding. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), one of the anxiety disorders, is a potentially disabling condition that can persist throughout a person’s life. The individual who suffers from OCD becomes trapped in a pattern of repetitive thoughts and behaviors that are senseless and distressing but extremely difficult to overcome. OCD occurs in a spectrum from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, can destroy a person’s capacity to function at work, at school, or even in the home.

So for counting, think of his ridiculous substitutions, always between 67 and 73 minutes, always, never of course when we may need them, always when his OCD kicks in.

Hoarding? Say no more.

You make your mind up.

    Nice Article Geoff.
Spot mate, Now where’s that White coat with extra long sleeves?

    1. Store clerk makes just 7.2 pounds per hour? The whole damn club is being run by Uncle Scrooges!

  2. I read that an Arsenal fan who work’s at the club store, has handed his notice In, because of Wenger’s statement after the Leicester game.

In an open letter, he claims that he doesn’t want to be a burden on the club and he hopes that the £7.20ph that he was earning will now go towards buying a player, now that Arsenal’s employment of 600 has been reduced to 599 lol ?

    1. Lol ! This is what Wenger’s stubbornness has done to us fans. We’re divided with half of us going crazy and suffering from bi-polar disorder while the other half likes to remain in delusion.

  3. BUT your wrong when you think the board wont give Wenger a contract bcoz he doesnt sign players!!!they like what he does for their own interest….simply they are not after titles, otherwise Wenger could have been SACKED by now…..

    1. In my opinion there are two clubs Wenger would likely have been sacked from in the prem. If he was at city, I think they would have got him a director of football and a proper chief negotiator which would have made sure they got top players each season. I believe they would have liked Wengers type of football and there is a good chance he’d be successful with them. At che and utd however, I believe Abramovic and Woodward would have let Wenger do things his own way and Wenger would likely have been sacked. Mancini constantly complained about not having full reign over transfers. Woodward let Fergie do it all his own way just as Arsenal do Arsene. Abramovic, I just believe that he would have let Arsene have full reign over transfers.

      1. Woodward never worked with Fergie, you’re mistaking him him with David Gill, and his influence was like David Dein’s, let Fergie choose the players while he does all the negotiating. Woodward joined United with Moyes and basically has the same role meanwhile we’re going backwards because of Gazidis’s inability to land top players and willingness to satisfy the owner with profits.

  4. I lost you the moment you began to flex your managerial awareness. Who cares if four go out and two come in, so long as the worst four are gone and the correct two come in ..etc. Looks like this Mustafi deal is dead, or is dying slowly. Really thought he might be the partner we all wanted for Kos. We really need to pull a rabbit out now, second game and it feels like the last month of a season, or how we usually feel at that stage.

    1. The Mustafi deal is dead mate, Valencia are now holding out for his release clause and there’s no way that any club is paying that fee for him… €50 million

  5. Yup.
You see statements such as ozil is better thab hazard
Sanchez is as good as suarez.
    Holding costs 55mil
    coquelin costs 40mil
There is no striker better than welbeck in the market
    Giroyd is better than chicharito

All these prove he should be taken to specialized mental care

  6. Latest rumours:

According to the Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for Yacine Brahimi with Porto ready to sell the unsettled winger for £40m this summer.

Brahimi has been in great form for Porto since joining the club form Granada in 2014 with the Algerian international chipping in with 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season.

He’s predominantly a left-winger but can play across any of the attacking midfield positions so he’d certainly give Wenger plenty of options in the final third if he was to move to the Emirates this summer – although the report says Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in the player so we could face stiff competition.

Wenger is clearly struggling to find a top class striker within his price-range and the boss hinted over the weekend that he’s ready to use Alexis Sanchez through the middle this season.

    1. It seems as if Wenger has given up on signing a striker,
Brahimi is 26 and he is the kind of versatile player that Wenger likes and even though Sanchez hasn’t clicked into the striker role yet, I’m sure that he will as soon as the window slams shut and his mind is totally focused on Arsenal.

      As for a CB?
Maybe the answer will come from the Evans above, God knows! ??
I hear that Koscielny picked up a slight injury, against Leicester, hopefully it’s nothing serious.

  7. “The individual who suffers from OCD becomes trapped in a pattern of repetitive thoughts and behaviors that are senseless and distressing but extremely difficult to overcome”…..now have a better understanding of all the Wenger fans out there.

  8. You have put this very mildly. This guy is MAD, LUNATIC, CRAZY, BALMY, INSANE, DEMENTED, IRRATIONAL, PSYCHO! Should be locked up in a secret mental asylum in Guatemala…

  9. FURIEUX (French), VERRUCT (german), LOCA (Spanish), PAGAL (indian), FENG (Chinese), KICHAA (Swahili)

  10. This questions seems to have come in late I guess. It shoulda been asked many years ago.But such is the state of he man that year after year season after season you wonder if he’s alright.

  11. Nah, not OCD, more a fantasist who has delusions of grandeur. His miserly fixation on winning the league on a budget has gone beyond irritation and is now utterly embarrassing.

We could have won the league a few times if he had taken his head out of his bony a**e and actually strengthened the team beyond his delusions of those on long term sick being like a new signing (when/if they come back from injury).

Honestly, he is beyond arrogant. His arrogance has (arguably) cost the club credibility and trophies and of course top players through his out of date approach to bargaining..

I’m so sick of his well worn lines being trailed out every transfer window. Other top teams sign top names and lift the team with goals etc, we end up flogging the dead horse of optimism through our supposed team ethic and spirit.

    What a joke.

  12. West Brom have just signed a defender on loan for a year….my guess is that means we going to be getting Evans. Watch this space…..I have a horrible feeling that’s was that means.

You all know this has a Wenger signing written all over it.

  13. of all wengers antics, the one that annoys the most is the subs @75 mins wats up with that, really I don’t get it

  14. Nah, Way too expensive.

Landmark, NLP, Hypnosis, timeline therapy, CBT. all much cheaper and more affective.

    I didn’t read the article
