Early Arsenal rumour round-up – Belotti, Morata, Insigne, Onyekuru, Ghoulam

With no match this weekend for Arsenal, there is less stories to throw about, so why not bring you an update of the latest speculation regarding our club’s future transfers…

Alvaro Morata is hardly a new name to be linked with our club, but the latest is that he has supposedly issued Real Madrid an ultimatum, that he is guaranteed first-team action or he will leave the club for pastures new… How true the story is, is undetermined…

Andrea Belotti is another striker on our supposed wishlist, and we are claimed to have scouts watching him last night, where he bagged himself a brace to help Torino snatch a 2-2 draw away to Fiorentina, having been 2-0 down at the mid-way point. It would be difficult not to be impressed by his outing…

Another goalscorer being linked with a possible summer move to the Emirates this summer is 19 year-old Henry Onyekuru, who is currently impressing in the Belgian Pro League. The winger has bagged himself 14 goals in all competitions so far this term, and has said that he is looking to move clubs at the end of the season, with Seville, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal all strongly linked. One problem could be his nationality, with the Nigerian yet to venture onto the international scene, which could prove problematic in acquiring a work permit.

Back to Serie A now, where we are linked with two Napoli stars this summer, with one claimed to be Arsenal’s ‘No. 1 target’ in Lorenzo Insigne, as well as Faouzi Ghoulam. The left-back role is one we have been looking at for some time now, with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs failing to impress this term, and with the Spaniard not getting any younger also.

Insigne on the other hand could be lined up as a potential replacement for either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil, with the pair both yet to sign extended deals. The attacking midfielder is known to have fallen out with his club over contract negotiations, and he may well be destined to leave this summer.

Which player would be most suited to Arsenal? Could any of these targets join us this summer?

  1. I’m not a big fan of Morata. He isn’t a prolific goal scorer
    Belotti doesn’t seem as an upgrade on Giroud and def not Alexis
    Never heard of Onyekuru
    None of these strikers are anywhere good enough to what we need

    Insigne would be fantastic because he plays CAM and forward
    Again not a prolific forward that we need but he scores goals and is creative player
    He would be a good replacement for Ozil. But I think we should get him even if Ozil stays
    If Alexis leaves we need a better player like Greizmann, Rodriguez, Reus, Draxler, Lewandowski

    But Im hoping Alexis stays
    Love Alexis

  2. My dream:
    Wenger ==> gone
    Semione ==> In
    —————————————
    Lacazette ==> In
    Verratti/Isco ==> In
    Griezmann ==> In
    Sanchez ==> New 5 yrs contract
    Ozil ==> out
    Mert ==> out
    Giroud ==> out (I don’t care what you all think)
    Ramsey & Wilshere (Useless injury prone players) ==> out

      1. Lacazette isn’t as hopeless as we may 1st think.
        If we are looking at Morata then it would be around the same money for Lacazette, he has better stats and he is on around 80k per week… We could offer a pay upgrade.

        I wouldn’t be surprised to see AFC spend between 70-100 mil, not on 1 player XD but overall.
        We may have a lean year but we may be lucky in Alexis and Ozil only signing if we do show intent to win… The board have invested a lot in those players and losing those assets for a big financial loss will hurt the business side.
        Alexis wants to win stuff, would you resign if you didn’t believe the club would invest and leave you dreaming yet again?

        So if we do spend like we have in some of the recent transfer windows then we could afford Lacazette along with 1 more decent player… We spent £70mil on Xhaka + Mustafi, that could be £50mil for Lacazette and £20mil for Rabiot (another recent rumor).

        If we could sell some of the driftwood to raise funds then I would dream of a front 3 of Alexis, Lacazette and Griezmann. That is just a dream but as meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 aint bad.
