Elneny’s team-mate confirms Arsenal move

As usual, the whole world knows about an Arsenal transfer deal long before it is officially announced by the club itself. According to the rumours, Arsenal’s deal with Basel for Mohamed Elneny was done and dusted before the transfer window even opened, but it has been left to his old team-mate Albian Ajeti to confirm that the Egyptian international has finally completed his move to Arsenal. In a post (with a pic of both players together) on his official Facebook page, Ajeti said: “I’m happy for you Mohamed El Nenny success in Arsenal.”

Despite the whole world and his dog knowing that everything is complete, Wenger himself refused to confirm or deny it on Saturday. “I don’t give much away because I don’t know [what’s happening with transfers],” he said, “I want to talk about them and hopefully we are capable of doing something in the next 10 days.”

Wenger also hinted that Elneny could be his only signing of January, but if needed he could bring in one more. “It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever. Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.”

Surely he can’t be serious? Two players are the absolute minimum we need. Not only as cover for our injuries, but also to prepare for the aging stars that will surely be leaving in the summer, like Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini….

Is this Spanish beauty the reason for Bellerin’s drop in form?

I still haven’t figured out whether Elneny is going to be competition for Coquelin or the squad player addition that will fill in for Wilshere in short period and replace Rosicky for next season onwards.

Good addition nonetheless the footage looks good!

OT : Liverpool have managed just one trophy in the last ten years. Its funny how the media seem to have missed that

      1. Arsenal007

People seem not to understand why the media gives Arsenal such a hard time…
I like to believe that it it because their expectations of us are very high. Why bother about a team without expectations/drive/class?

hahaha……Arsenal007……how come u are a fan of a no expectation /no drive / no class team? *just kidding*

    Wenger wants to s t r e t c h this transfer out (Elneny)
to make himself look extra busy!
He will probably confirm it on the last day of the transfer window lol ??? What a joker!

Well it’s early on in the window, the negotiations have been going on for over a week now, do you really believe getting a work permit is taking this much time, especially when he’s likely to be the only player we’re reeling in? I think the media/marketing work (photos etc.) is what delays it, same thing happened with Sanchez.

        1. jonm

Lets hope it is media and marketing not a problem with work permit.

What I cannot understand is why teams in other EU Countries do not have these problems, Joel Campbell could play in Spain and Greece but not UK until recently.

Elneny has signed a 4 and a half year contact, all terms, agreements and medical were done before our home game against City, all subject to a work permit which was received two days ago… We should hear official news from Arsenal today but hey don’t hold your breath ?

Seriously, we need another two signings at least!

what u don’t Like bout him?………. His Name?

EL-ne-ny….sounds Nice and fluid compared to Osh-o-skyy *coughs*

elneny looks like a very handy signing indeed, he will cover for le coq untill he gets back, and could well even partner him in the engine room, if he becomes unmovable from the first team.
lets hope we can get one more signing for the first team and maybe a youth signing like chilwell ready for next summer and, may be start set up talks with a potential massive move for summer would be a good winter window for me.
elneny – looks like the first signing to be announced asap could be good cover and surprise first team impact player like kos (cheap but top class a real wenger gem)
chilwell – could well be second signing and let him stay on loan at hudders just to keep him in playing time
c/f or attacking player that will give a quick boost in the title race, not sure who this could be fingers crossed maybe aubamayang, if he is available this window could be a master stroke if we get him in. and potential title winner for us

Really we know bout this EL-neny to arsenal already…..and we are glad as well as excited

    its no Longer News….

Unto the Next one pls……and Let it be Aubameyang!

  6. gooner100

We all know AW won’t say anything till it’s all signed and sealed….but, you never know, perhaps, just perhaps, he was hoping to make two announcements at the same time….Auba, Kokorin, Rabiot? All are not impossible and any would be a welcome addition.

  7. SoOpa AeoN

okay guys……this question may be a bit weird and kinda stupid

but Arsenal as y’all know would be playing against Liverpool in say two weeks right?

What if the match winner were a Decider for Aubameyang, where do y’all think he’d end up at????

Mohamed Elneny is not the type of player need.

Arteta is the player Arsenal misses the most, since Coquelin replace him as Defensive midfielder and sometimes Flamini, Arsenal game has gradually loss its shape and control. Arsenal possession statistics has plummeted in recent games and once Arsenal scores an early goal, their overall game seems to disintegrate. It happen at the Emirates against Man u for the exception of the first 15 minutes, Man city, Bournemouth, spurs and Newcastle most of these teams manage to play lots of football deep in Arsenal half, pinning them down in their own box.

When Arsenal played with Arteta as defensive midfielder that situation never occurs he tends to control the flow and pace of Arsenal game with his passing and by holding his position, he also runs into space very well and always available for a pass. Arsenal also plays from the back more and confidently work their way up field with him in the team. Xavi did a similar job for Barcelona.
Coquelin, Flamini and Ramsey are not of that same mould, Victor Wanyama and Villiam Carvaho are good defensive midfielders but do not control the flow of a game, they are more likely to a rest or stays static when their team is in possession of the ball. Therefore, Mr. Wenger has to address this problem in this transfer window if his not going to play Arteta. Marco Verratti is the type of player who could solve this problem for Arsenal.

Mohamed Elneny is not the types of player Arsenal need, his more like Diaby. I hope his transfer to Arsenal does not happen; But Mr. Wenger seems to see it differently.

    1. Yoe_its_Moe

HAHAHA … of course, where would we be without arteta ?? TOP OF THE LEAGUE !!
If El Neny is in the same mold of Diaby, then we must get him then, Diaby was unplayable when he actually made it on to the field.

      1. Harold

At the Emirates Arsenal could have easily loss against Man City, Spurs and Newcastle. The simple reason why they almost loss these games is because of thier inablity to control the ball.

Even though Mohamed Elneny is of the same mould of Diaby, this not means that the level of football he plays is of the same standard as Diaby. The only extra dimension Elneny can bring to Arsenal is to take long shorts outside the box.

I also did not say Arteta should be in the team, what I explain is without Arteta in the side a serious flaw has appeared in Arsenal game and that is to control possession and maintain their shape. Therefore, a player of similar attributes to Arteta like Marco Verratti are of paramount importance in this January transfer window.

        1. Marko

I agree completely. Change in Arsenals style towards counterattacking owes a lot to the fact that we lost Arteta. Coquelin and Cazorla were basicaly both replacements for one player – Mikel. Of course, Cazorla is as good as a passer as Arteta and Coquelin is better defensively, but none is as good of an organizer and that way we couldn’t fit Ramsey in the middle, which was a HUGE loss.
