England can do Arsenal a big favour with Chambers

The subject of rotating players in the Arsenal squad is a hot topic at the minute after Arsene Wenger chose to make a fair few changes, most notably bringing in Ospina for Cech, and losing a second Champions League group game in a row.

Rotation is needed though, with injury problems and player fatigue a very real issue over the course of a busy season. That is why we have a big strong with quality players in reserve. However, those players can be rusty and off match pace when they are needed if they do not get any regular game time.

It is a problem for the manager and we have already seen what can happen this season with Ospina´s howler this week and also when Arsenal had to bring in Chambers and Gabriel in the Premier League game against Liverpool. The young Englishman was particularly poor in that first half and although he has looked better in his few appearances since, it is clear that he is still learning the role of a centre back.

That is why I think England could do Arsenal a big favour. Gareth Southgate has selected him again for the under 21 squad and now John Stones has moved up to the senior squad, Chambers will hopefully be a first choice starter. Not only will this help him to improve in the centre of defence, but it should give him a much needed confidence boost.

Arsenal will need to call on Chambers again this season and so anything that helps him to perform is good for the Gunners. So will Chambers prove to be a good back up for us this season?

  2. Calum chambers will get better as time goes by, but for now he needs to work on a couple of things with his defending to improve further!

    1. The sad thing is, if he would have stayed at Southampton,
He would have already been a regular first team England starter!

  3. As long as I can remember, after the invincibles era, we didn’t produce the best CENTER BACK from youth academy.

Either we had Senderos, Djourou, Upson, and others I can’t remember.

What happeded to the youth set up?
