Here at Just Arsenal we have been loathe to comment on the Arsenal rumour linking Samuel Eto’o with the Gunners, for the simple reason that it seemed like too much of a ‘fantasy signing’ for me to jinx by mentioning it!
But today it is yet again in the papers that Eto’o is willing to try playing in the Premier League if he is offered a good “project” rather than the astronomical wages he usually commands, and I thought ‘if he wants to prove he can score goals in the Premiership, he won’t get more chances than if he joins Arsenal’.
He said: “ I now have the idea of proving myself in England. The money is not key for me – I will decide by the sporting project.”
So okay I have now put the mockers on that one, but you really never know…….
The news was also revealed that the ex-Gunner Seb Larrson has refused a free transfer back to Arsenal in favour of a move to Sunderland, according to his father. Here is an extract from the report in the Mail: His father revealed the midfielder shunned an 11th-hour approach from Arsenal and Aston Villa to sign with the Black Cats.
‘Steve Bruce has done much to bring about a deal and been very active,’
That just seems like a completely incongruous pair of news items, where one of the best strikers in the World could join us, but a mediocre (at best) midfielder turns Arsenal down!
