Europa League Quarter-Final.. Who do you want Arsenal to draw?

So Arsenal are through to the last 8 in Europe for the first time in many years, even if it is just the Europa League, and here are the seven teams that are our potential opponents. There is just an hour until the numbers come out of the post, but Which one would you like Arsenal to draw?

Atletico Madrid (Spain)
Marseille (France)
Lazio (Italy)
Sporting Lisbon (Portugal)
RB Leipzig (Germany)
RB Salzburg (Austria)
CSKA Moscow (Russia)

Arsene Wenger is agreed that he doesn’t want to get Atletico Madrid in the next round, as all Arsenal fans are I am sure! “Maybe the team who is the biggest favourite is Atletico Madrid,” Wenger said last night. “But anyway, what I like doesn’t matter too much because I have no influence on it.

“We have to wait for tomorrow [Friday] and see who we get. If we get Atletico Madrid, we get Atletico Madrid. We have now some time to recover and prepare for it.

Just as a reminder, here are the results from yesterday of all our possible opponents.

Lokomotiv Moscow 1-5 Atletico Madrid (1-8 aggregate)

Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Marseille (2-5 agg)

Dynamo Kiev 0-2 Lazio (2-4 agg)

Viktoria Plzen 2-1 Sporting Lisbon (2-3 agg)

Zenit St Petersburg 1-1 RB Leipzig (2-3 agg)

Salzburg 0-0 Borussia Dortmund (2-1 agg)

Lyon 2-3 CSKA Moscow (3-3 agg)

The draw is a free-for-all so we could get any of them, but if I could choose I think I would pick Sporting CP, because the Portugese League is not very strong at the moment, and Arsenal wouldn’t have very far to travel. We definitely don’t want to go to Moscow!

  1. i think it will be lazio, but lisbon is not an easy team as you think, the easiest is salzburg but they beat dortmumd (wow), so i hope its ceska mosckow

    1. Really? Lazio. Come on guys. Let’s hope for AM. Get it over with already. At least AM with 2 leg tie can hand us a better chance. No fear, no remorse.

  2. Salzburg, because they play in a less demanding league, compared to the other contestants

They got rid of Dortmund, but I feel Arsenal could have better luck against this team

  3. My prediction –

We win the Europa League and do not face Athletico at any point during the competition.

        1. Great match up all the same, Liv are looking very city like when they are on it, and they have extra gears when it comes to the CL.

CSKA for us, long distance is the worst of it and the second leg over there, but we should be beating these even though our record against them isn’t good.

      1. fixed in who’s favor? This guarentees an English side in Semi-finals. Real Madrid have Juve, who has knocked them out before. And if you look at past years Barca, Bayern, Madrid have not had the easiest possible draws. Think you’re just fishing for a conspiracy. It’s English teams fault for only getting 2/5 through to the next round anyways.

        1. It is very coincidental how Liv Roma Juve Seville were kept from one another, and same token all the bigger sides were too. You can argue that Juve in it’s right is as big as most, but money spent at city and the way they are playing put’s city ahead of Juve. And AFC would have killed to get Juve in other seasons. So it looks very spread out in the kindest way it could’ve been for Europe’s biggest. Am not saying it’s fixed though, just that this comp has been very coincidental over the years.

  4. Any team but A.madrid would have been good, the long travel and football climate will be an issue just like ostursund

        1. I doubt it, someone called James will likely have muff growing from there “never regions”

  5. Guess some on here will be calling for a boycott!!! Could have been a lot more difficult but winning away at lyon might suggest that they are no pushover … Would seem easier than milan tie but who knows

  6. Guys the QF draw has been rather nice to us, CSKA Moscow!! We can beat them no doubt in my mind but we have to fight for everything as these guys just went to Lyon & Won away 2-3, after losing 1st Leg 0-1 at home… shows they have fight in them!

Lacazette will be back to lead the line instead of Welbz, but if he does what he did last night (his energy was awesome, bad finisher tho) then wouldnt mind him starting in a wider position v CSK. Could of been worse, Athletico/Arsenal Final would be a spectacle for a Europa League Final.

  7. great draw.

eastern european teams always get decisions against them, so more chances for us.

    they’ll be fresher, though.

  8. Does anyone know answer to – If we make it to the final v Atletico, and Atletico are already guaranteed a place in CL, do we get the spot if we finish runner up?.

    1. we should not want to quailify that way…

lets focus anyway on a good home leg and win against CSKA first..

  9. if we can beat them 4-0 at home.. does that mean we dont have to show up for the away game?? haha
