Exit-linked duo reveal intention to play for Arsenal next season

Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud have both moved to admit that they both wish to play for Arsenal in this coming season.

Our club has moved to bring in Alexandre Lacazette so far this summer, for a club record £52 Million, and his arrival was expected to come as a blow to fellow French international Olivier Giroud.

The 30 year-old had claimed that he had intentions to play out the season as the club’s first-choice striker, but following the arrival of strong competition, who will no doubt usurp him in the first-team, his future has since been speculated strongly.

Everton are said to be the favourites for Giroud’s signature, but the former Montpellier. star is solely concentrating on preparing for the new season, and is relishing the challenge posed by his new team-mate Lacazette.

“Honestly I don’t know (about my future),” he told reporters at Arsenal’s third kit launch in Sydney.

“For the moment I’m still an Arsenal player and try to be professional like I always have done and to prepare well for the next season.

“Obviously, there will be more competition – even more than last year, but it’s always nice for a striker to feel the pressure.

“I always deal with it. I’ve been through some difficulty this last year, but always succeed to bounce back.

“I don’t know about my future, so can’t tell you more – [I’m] focused on my pre-season.”

Mesut Ozil has made his intentions more clear than his counterpart, declaring his intentions as ‘definite’ that he would like to stay. The German has been a key player in our side since joining in 2014, and with only one year remaining on his contract, had been a huge doubt moving forward.

“It is definitely my preference to stay,” he said. “It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.

“Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.

“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”

  1. Anything can happen from now until September 1st, but these are good signs.

Also Alexis modeling the new puma kit is encouraging too. It doesn’t mean he will stay necessarily but an encouraging thing to see.

I hope Alexis, Ozil, Giroud, Ox and Bellerin all stay.

    1. I hope they all sty, but alexis modelling the kit has no recall. It was done months ago and is a publicity stunt only.

Can someone tell me did I miss the launch of our away strip? Or 2nd kit?

I think wenger has made it pretty clear who is part of his plans and who isn’t and I am sure the players all know it.

If you are a player sitting at home, uninjured, having not played Any football since the cup final or before. Then I would have thought, you know the writing is on the wall. I would say that szczesney, macey Debuchy, Gibbs, jenkinson, Moore, pleguezuelo,
Kamara Toral nwakali campbell, perez Crowley akpom are already looking at permanent or loan moves.

  2. Rumours are Chelsea are looking to sign Aubameyang and BVB will move in for Giroud as his replacement…if that’s the case I don’t see Giroud sticking around when he can be a starter in the champions league next season. I always wanted Giroud to leave from the first season but now I think I like the guy! He should stay and give us that physicality upfront…all our attackers tend to be weak..plus Giroud NEVER gets injured at Arsenal the mother club of injuries.

  3. I would want Giroud to stay at least one more season. Despite his many deficiencies, we know exactly what to expect from Giroud, and if used well, he can be of a plus to the team challenging this year. It would also give time for Lacazette to ingratiate himself into the team. If Lacazette catches fire right away, Giroud’s opportunities maybe severally undercut, and it would be sensible to let him go (and find a replacement, young center forward) next year. Winning the PL or Europa League should be compensation/compromise enough from a player’s standpoint.

  4. We need to keep Giroud. Regardless of who is in for him, there is not guarantee that Lacazette won’t need time to adjust. Therefore Giroud needs to stay at least one more season.

  5. Weather to keep Giroud or not ,what is our team chemistry ? Look at successful teams ,they got players with good chemistry like Ronaldo and company,Messi and company so Arsenal needs one. What I ask whom are we partnering Giroud with?

  6. Giroud +Laca +Lemar = Valerie Germain + Radamel Falcao + Lemar at Monaco. Like Germain, he would benefit from Lemar delicious delivery from the wing
