Chuba Akpom was a prolific goalscorer for Arsenal when he played at the lower age levels including the U23 side, but when he came up to the senior side his talents (or confidence) deserted him completely.
But now he has gone out on loan to Sint-Truiden in Belgium’s top League, and he has scored a cracker in only his second start for the Belgian minnows as they beat the local giants Anderlecht this weekend.
He was understandably over the moon after scoring his first senior goal since he was on loan at Hull City over two years ago. Akpom tweeted: “Solid 1-0 win against Anderlecht. Buzzing to get my first goal for Sint-Truiden,”
Have a look at it here….
If only he could have scored goals like that in the Premier League. But you never know, maybe playing for Sint-Truiden could find him regaining his old confidence and he could come back to the Emirates next season as our new goal machine!
