For title ambitions Arsenal MUST get a result at Man United

It’s not quite “squeaky bum time” yet, in the immortal words of Sir Alex Ferguson, but Arsenal’s game at Old Trafford this weekend could certainly be a big boost for either sides ambitions to be doing battle at the top of the table come the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger himself has a big hurdle to overcome with his managerial record against Jose Mourinho, but the team themselves also have an awful record with games at Old Trafford, in fact we have to go back ten years for the last time we walked away with all three points in the League.

But the Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes that with our new squad we have the talent to do it, but he also thinks that we need to get something to prove we really are title contenders this time around. “I look at Arsenal now and think they’re a lot stronger,” Parlous said.

“People were always waiting for that big centre forward, but the key signings for me were Mustafi and Xhaka. Those two down the spine have been very strong, especially Mustafi who’s come in next to Koscielny at the back.

“No disrespect to Per Mertesacker, who’s getting that little bit older, but sometimes Arsenal have to sit off with him in the team. With Mustafi, you can push up that little bit higher and condense the space in midfield.

“It’s worked so far, but it’s such a competitive league and this will be a big test. If they’re going to win the title, they have to go to places like Old Trafford and try to get a result.”

Well there you have it in a nutshell. With us currently on a 16-game unbeaten run, and United in disarray, is there a better time for Arsene Wenger to finally get one over on his nemesis?

  1. with Alexis back we just have to sort out the RB spot..

Cazorla playing beside Xhaka could make us dictate the game more thereby putting less pressure on the fragile Jenkinson.
    or
we could play Gabriel in RB

      1. Maitland-Niles looks like a more convincing option in RB than Jenks considering both last game in the position

  2. More and more I’m trusting our players mentality in the big games, The Arsenal is where weapons are kept, let’s roll out the cannons, the tanks and missiles, and go-a-shattering at the Theatre of dreams.

  3. It is time to rewrite the history books as the form book is on our side. We can get three points in this theater and we have lifted the title trophy in there before…

  4. We need 3 points after the draw with Spurs
A hickup once in a while is okay but we can’t go a string of matches or even two in a row
without a win. We can’t afford to drift away from the leaders

Also, United are definitely beatable and if we give it everything we have we can get 3 points
