Forget Arteta – Is this how Arsenal will line up if we get our transfer targets?

Stan & Arsenal’s Summer Sales by Sean O’Hara

Gooners this is an article not about Arteta, his ‘maybe’ staff or our outgoing backroom staff needed replacing. This is about players needing to come in (ones we have been linked with) to see where we could end up heading into the coming season.

Now all of this has nothing to do with the coaching side of things, this is business, which is what we kind of are these days. Long gone are the days of Arsenal being ambitious enough to compete to win titles, instead our board members & owner all line their pockets handsomely.

Linked players below along with players possibly leaving, all this is kind of what we are supposed to believe could happen… Except for a winger coming in, i just threw that in there as we have no sort of width whatsoever.

3-5-2

Leno
Chambers Sokratis Soyuncu
Seri Ramsey
Ozil Mhiki Mahrez/Martial
Laca Auba

To Sign;
Leno 22m
Soyuncu 25m
Sokratis 20m
Seri 35m
??Mahrez or Martial 35m?? = £137m

Mustafi 25m
Xhaka 20m
Ospina 10m
Perez 10m = £65m

*WAGES freed up also for new Arrivals! Per, Campbell & Jenk all gone, retiring or free. £70-£80m Nett Spend. Our usual low enough budget to work with.

Utility players;
Welbeck
Elneny (Niles also)

Promote;
Niles
Mavraponas
Nketiah

New contracts;
Wilshere
Ramsey
Santi (pay as play) Exp
Boss (pay as play) Exp

GK;
1 Leno / 2 Cech

CB;
Chambers, Mavropanas, Sokratis, Boss, Soyuncu.

Wing/Full backs;
Bellerin, Monreal, Kolasnic
(Niles & Chambers cover also)

CDM – Seri & Elneny
CM – Santi, Ramsey & Wilshere (Niles)
AM – Mhiki & Mesut

Attackers;
Mahrez or Martial, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Welbeck & Nketiah

Something along the lines of this (bar a winger) is what we are being linked with, and with a budget like ours this would be a really good start to our rebuilding. Plenty of youth in there with a few experienced heads around the dressing room. No matter who comes in Manager/Coach wise they have to coach & that’s it. Transfers are up to the three wise men in Ivan, Raul & Sven!

Id be happy for whoever comes in to have this sort of squad at Arsenal but will never get my hopes up with Arsenal as contenders whilst ConManStan owns majoriry shares. Why he is still here is beyond me. Whatever outcome comes from all this is on him, time for him to step up for this once great club or step aside.

Something to discuss, share your opinions on who you would sign, sell or keep at the club with our budget! I’ll leave it on this; As this is going to be a bumpy ride whoever takes over for a while, we all need to get behind him & the club for this summer!

  1. How good is Leno anyhow? If heard nothing much about him in the last few years so either he has gone under the radar or he’s nothing special. Whatever the case is, beggars can’t be choosers, and we are beggars at the moment.

    I’d go for:

    GK
    CB – Sokratis is quite average so we dont want another Mustafi
    DM – Fabinho £40 mils
    CM – Meyer FREE
    Winger – Martial seems like a great option, will Jose sell?

    1. I think Martial would be allowed to go, but we don’t need another right-footed left winger, since we already have Mkhitaryan

      What Arsenal need is a pacey left-footed right winger that is able to produce excellent first touches cosistently like Mo Salah. I think Leon Bailey has that capabilities

      1. Point of correction ,Mikhy is not a winger.one of the major fault Wenger had,was playing cams as towards and that need to stop .imo ,we need one right footed winger and another left footed winger.all have in afc are strikers and attacking midfielders. No natural wingers and proper dmfs .that was the source of our failure in the past season

        1. Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nelson, Maitland-Niles and Welbeck have stronger right foot and can play as wingers as well. Hence if Martial joins, we would have another right-footed left winger/ forward competing for the same position

          If Leon Bailey is too expensive, I think Malcom is also a left-footed right winger. Bale might be available as well, because of the rise of Asensio

        2. It was also a prime source of our failure for around the last decade. We have had no top wingers since Overmars. Arshavin was talented but had the heart of a pea, so I don’t count him at all. Pires was a wide forward, but not a winger. No quality DCM since Gilberto. All down to WENGER AND PRIME REASONS HE GOT SACKED.

  2. But seriously I doubt that arteta would earn the respect of big ego players, we’ll see

  3. If Arteta joins, maybe he would use Guardiola’s 3-5-2 or 4-1-3-2 to make the players understand Guardiola’s concept first:

    …………….Cech/Martinez
    ….Chambers . Koulibaly . Holding
    Bellerin …. Seri …. Ndidi …. Kolasinac
    ………………Mkhitaryan
    ……Lacazette ……….. Aubameyang

    To be signed: Adama Traore, Ndidi, Koulibaly, Seri

    To be sold/ released: Ozil, Xhaka, Mustafi, Koscielny, Wilshere, Perez, Campbell, Ospina, Cazorla, Willock

    To be kept: Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Nelson, Welbeck, Nketiah, Macey, DaSilva, Mavropanos, Ramsey

      1. He wrecked havoc in the six big Premier League teams’ defense:

        youtube.com/watch?v=t08T6HM8zqA&t=42s

        He did not produce many assist and goals in this season, because Pullis could not utilize his talent. But he is the most successful dribbler in the Championship division

        He is also currently chased by Chelsea and Tottenham. If you remember how Salah played before managed by Klopp, that is how big Traore’s potential could be, because he has tremendous speed and he is able to produce excellent first touches consistently like Salah

        1. I see where you’re coming from but he has no end product basically it would be like signing Gervinho again…

          Either way I don’t like using YouTube videos as a point of reference anyone can look good on youtube (member gabigol? Member Mustafi? Member Xhaka? Even El neny looked like a world beater on youtube)

  4. Seri would help our central midfield greatly but still need one more.
    Mahrez would be good but he is more likely to go to City.

    We should have signed both last summer

    1. It’s good if Mahrez goes to Man City

      It would mean Arsenal could snatch Sane, Sterling or Bernardo Silva

      1. Mahrez would surely just be a squad player though. They’d probably be willing to let Bernardo Silva go but he can also operate in midfield and might put him there.

  5. Here’s something super radical…that even I’m not sure about, but apart from Allegri coming in, excites me more than most:

    New Manager: Sean Dyche – aka ‘The Case for the Defence’
    Sean brings with him:
    Nick Pope GK
    James Tarkowski CB

  6. Although you have stated wing backs in the squad there are none in your 11, very unbalanced without them. Also Transfer prices are far from realistic. Soyumcu is at 35m for example.

    1. DON’T AGREE AT ALL. HE IS ONE PACED, IMMOBILE, NOT DANGER AWARE AND ALL HE HAD IS LONG PASSING AND A HARD SHOT. NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH TO PLAY AT OUR LEVEL. Should be sold in the first week by the new manager.

  7. For my case,whoever comes in as A coach,he should fix where we have problems especially the in defence,we have players like holding,chambers who need experience,we need experienced ones to help us win trophies,am not saying holding and chambers are not good,believe me when they get chance to play consecutively they will be the best,now talk of Mustafi,he is good player with some noticeable mistakes and injuries we can not rely on him full season,Bellerin needs some one he will rely on ,play with and master their combination on how the can help each other in defense, we have quality players who just need A LEADER to command them to victory,we had Patrick Viera,Thierry Henry,we need such characters,now about players like Ramsey,wilshere and Carzola,we need these players to stay with us in the team,whoever comes in as a coach he should focus on signing new players and also focus on our long term players whose contract is ending soon.I LOVE ARSENAL AM A GOONER 4 LIFE

    1. Only a Gooner for life eh? What a temp! I am a Gooner for eternity and when the worms are eating me up, I will still be cheering on the team. lol!

  8. Ospina (Free) Campbell (Free)
    Cazorla (Free) Koz (free)
    Jenkinson 7m Perez (5m)
    = 12m sales.
    Buy CB Evans 5m. RB 12m DM 12m CM Meyer (Free)
    Buys 29m – Sales 12m. = Net spend 17mill.

    Cech Martinez
    Bellerin RB
    Chambers Mavro Holding Mustafi Evans
    Monreal Kolasinac
    Xhaka DM Niles
    Ramsey Elneny Wilshere Mkhitaryan
    Ozil Nelson Iwobi Meyer (free)
    Aubameyang Lacazette Wellbeck

    1. No to Evans, because he is coming from a relegation-zone club, like what Mustafi was before coming to Arsenal

      Agree with the other potential purchases

    2. What new manager can you attract with that Squad need a manager and at least six world class players.and a clearance also. We need a class goal keeper, a pair of world class Center Backs, a robust Midfielder defensive player. Plus another Central midfielder the the rest can take care of themselves.

    1. And me I am 100% with you anyone with experience Wenger signing Arteta on a 1-year contract then let him take his coaching badges instead of playing him and told Stan the man to appoint him

  9. Empty promises should result in empty seats. These guys promised we would be competing with the big boys (Bayern, Real madrid, Barcelona, United exc.). Which is why fans had to pay ridiculous prices for season tickets despite the fact that our best players were being sold to rivals season after season. The long list of embarrassments include:

    8-2 humiliation
    6-0 Wenger’s thousandth game
    10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern
    4-0 to Liverpool
    3-0 to AC Milan in champions league

    Forget the amount of promising players we’ve lost/sold there would at least be 20.

    Commercially despite not being in the Champions league last season arsenal is still the 6th biggest club in football! Why are they still making a net profit on transfers? Why are we linked with a manager who’s never coached a team? Why are we unable to compete with the spuds when our wage budget is almost twice there’s and the only players of value they’ve sold over the years are Bale and Modric despite they’re status! I never thought we’d sweet the day where more than half their team would walk into ours, that’s disgraceful

    Lloris>Cech
    Verthongen>Kos
    Alderwield/Sanchez>Mustafi
    Aurier/Trippier>bellerin
    Davies/rose = Monreal
    DierXhaka
    Alli<Ozil
    Myhki=Eriksen
    PEA=Kane
    Son=Lacazette

    So we can only say Ramsey and Ozil could get into their team and some how a manager with ZERO experience and a miniscule budget is gonna get us competing? Jesus Christ forget winning the title at least Usurp Tottenham, the fans deserve that much

    1. Alli is much younger than Ozil and he is better than Ozil in the last two seasons. Please check the assist stats:

      premierleague.com/stats/top/players

      Arsenal used to have better transfer policy, training and youth development systems than Tottenham, but now the table has turned. I’m excited to see how the Wenger Out effect takes place, whether it is better or worse

      1. Stats don’t tell the whole story Ozil is 100% the better player not saying that scum won’t become better but Ozil creates more chances with less games and doesn’t lack concentration and passes infinitely better than Alli, Arsenal is just trash at getting the ball back to him and our attack has only just come together after Jan with Myki and PEA coming in before that Ozil was passing to Welbeck (donkey), Sanchez (didn’t want to be there), lacazette (Newby) but yeah given the spud is only 22 can only improve. Which confirms that a club half our size in revenue is better than us all over the pitch. Disgraceful

          1. Usmanov is rich enough to retain or extend his ownership in both clubs. He has no pressure to sell; however the concern is that, given he is being thwarted in having input and influence at Arsenal, Usmanov will increase his funding of Everton.

  10. Sell mustafi and get in sokratis,evans and turkish kid I’ll take that any day! Get in Leno sell the rest of the dead wood and arteta find us a proper dm! Get our transfers done before the big boys come looking! utd,Chelsea and liv’pool have big games coming up so they abit distracted! Sort out the arteta deal soon as possible every1 go on holiday and have a early pre-season! Pep is football-ing genius he would have not hired arteta to keep him warm on the bench maybe the guy has fresh ideas coz bellarin and iwobi stopped developing look at the ox looking like a different player so guys arteta has a way of playing pressing and pace and attacking football I pray that he proves us wrong and really does it 4 us!!!! 50mil is not enough Everton will spend more I’m worried

  11. _______________Aubameyang
    ___________Sane Mkhitaryan Welbeck
    ________________Modric Seri
    ______Monreal Mavropanos Vertonghen Maitland-Niles
    _________________Martinez

    1. It just re-states that we need to cool off. The mgt will determine d next manager nor the media. Look at the trends: Enrique-Buvac-Allegri now its Arteta. They looking for news to sell.

  12. I love to see enthusiastic ideas about transfers but to then extend that to not only evaluate what players we buy will cost and what we will get for our players we sell…: utter nonsense!!! I honestly thought it might make sense until I got to the second sentence and realised it was complete nonsense! Seriously, save your fingers… you’re talking boll*cks.

    1. If you read properly genius i stated players we have been linked with & what we are supose to bekieve the team could be?

      Since your the smartarse here then you wouldve realised that any valuations inserted was just average numbers. The young turkish kid is rated at 35m, though we will not pay that sum unless add ons over next 5years. Sokratis was quoted 20m, Leno around 22-25m, Seri aswell numbers chanfe everyday in the media between 30-40m. So wheres ur defence on my valuations?

      Oh & bdw as i stated, but sure u wldnt know u couldnt get buy the second sentence, that a winger was threw in as I thought we needed width! 35m for either Mahrez or Martial was a fair valuation.

  13. Lol now sky sports saying we will hold talk with henry about coach job next week. So we are just gonna ignore a legenday captain turned coach who actually have coaching experience and go after a legend that doesn’t want to leave his hefty pundit salary behind(Understandable Yes but bad for the club ) or a former good player which has no experience and is supposedly not liked by everyone in the squad. Classic Arsenal why fix our obvious problems when we can shoot our self in the foot easily. That is the Arsenal/Kroenke way ladies and gentleman.

    1. Was wrong on a few departure valuations! Though think youget what i was trying to discuss here. 5m for ospins is better though just thought with the market you might squeeze abit more.

  14. What new manager can you attract with that Squad need a manager and at least six world class players.and a clearance also. We need a class goal keeper, a pair of world class Center Backs, a robust Midfielder defensive player. Plus another Central midfielder the the rest can take care of themselves.
