Former Man City star tells Arsenal how to beat them

As Arsenal fans prepare for the latest test of our Premier League title winning credentials, this could be a crucial week for Arsene Wenger and the players. Man City may not be top of the table right now but they will still probably be the biggest obstacle to the Gunners being crowned champions in May.

So a win over them at the Emirates on Monday night would be a big step for us to take. We must approach this game in the right way and that will probably involve a lot more caution than we had to show against Aston Villa on Sunday. And that is exactly what the former Man City player Frank Lampard has told our Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey that he needs to do, as reported by the Express.

Lampard was talking about Ramsey and saying that although he is impressed with the talent and attacking intent that Rambo showed in his two starts back in the central position vacated by the injury hit Santi Cazorla, he feels that the Arsenal star needs to focus more on the defensive side of things, especially in games against bigger teams like Man City.

The former England star said, “Ramsey has to change his game and think about the defensive side of his game.

“With Ozil playing so well he knows he’s not going to get that No.10 role, so he’ll have to drop deeper.

“At the moment he doesn’t yet have the ability to play in midfield two.

“I love him as a player, very bright and very clever but you can see by the way he’s running back he doesn’t really want to do it.

“Ramsey has to see that Ozil is the No.10 and drop back in.

“It’s alright playing like he does when you’re playing the lesser teams, but when you’re playing top teams you need to be more secure.”

Do you agree with this advice from Lampard and do you think the Welshman will take it on board?

  1. Looking forward to our assist king mesut ozil, assist record continuing against man city next monday and a goal from him will be even more awesome also! Coyg!

  2. If we had a powerhouse like Wanyama in central midfield, then yes, Ramsey has the liberty to bomb forward as he likes. But we only have the 31 year old Flamini – so Ramsey has to tuck in and help him out.

  3. Frankie”Lamps” is right. The reason why Santi held down that spot is because he put in the defensive work also, regardless how good Le Coq was. Aaron has to curb his goal hunger and put in some dirty work instead…

  4. Maybe Lampard is worried about Ramsey breaking his record of 177 goals? Lol.

If Ramsey was half as good at shooting as Lampard was,
He would be scoring a Hat trick in every game!
That just goes to show, how often he takes a pop at goal.

As for the Man City game, I can’t see us losing that!
As they have been absolutely ? away from home recently and their home form hasn’t been that great either.
