Good and bad news for Arsenal ahead of Man City clash

Arsenal have a great chance to put some space between ourselves and our main rivals for the title on Monday night. Man City looked awesome at the beginning of the season, but they have dropped back a little lately and haven’t won away for a couple of months.

We may be complaining that we have had too many injury problems, but Man City have had more than their fair share as well. Some of them are starting to return now but the game at the Emirates will be too early for most of them, including the influential Vincent Kompany. The Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini said: “Pablo Zabaleta continues without working – I hope next week he’ll start again.

“Vincent Kompany, Fernando and Nasri are also out.

“Vincent is improving. I hope next week he’ll start working with the squad.”

So that is the good news for the Gunners, but the bad news is that City’s talismanic striker Kun Aguero has recovered from his injury layoff and will be returning on Monday. “Kun is working with the squad without problems. We’ll assess him to see if he’s 100% to start the game but I think he’ll be in the squad on Monday.”

As he has been out for a while it is unlikely that Aguero will play the whole 90 minutes, but an time his in on the pitch e will be dangerous even if he s not fully fit.

Pellegrini was also keen to point out that this game is far from being a title decider. He added: “It’s not a decisive game as after this we have to play 21 games more. It’s important to try to be the best team from the first round, to play against a team with one point more. It’s a game of six points, to win three and to take three off a rival.

“We must consider Leicester – they are still top of the table. United are just a few points behind us. Tottenham can be involved, so can Liverpool and Crystal Palace. It’s impossible just to think there are two teams involved in the title.

“We have to play five of the next six away. It’s a good target to return to clean sheets and to advance in positions. Playing away is always a bit more difficult.”

With City’s rubbish away record recently, a win for Arsenal could demoralise the Citizens for their following games as well, hopefully giving us further chances to increase our lead over them.

Fingers crossed this could be a great weekend for our title aspirations….

Onwards and Upwards!

  1. Every time you guys are over confident we lose, just keep your feet grounded.

Their away record is not great, but that means nothing in big games.

    1. Our ‘over confidence’ should not affect the players in any way. We’re not the ones doing the kicking of the ball.
As long as the players themselves are not over confident, that’s ok with me.
      Cheers

  2. happy birthday Alexis Sanchez……. May ur Li-ion batteries never go discharged…… Long may ur Goal tally increase per season…… Long may u continue to be a success to Arsenal and to ur Native home…… Long may u Live…… Long may ur victory continue!

  3. Admini, I am afraid Man City will have to continue in their win-less away run at the Ems on Monday night. Because Arsenal will have to extend their home winning run to 2 games in the League unfailingly on Monday night. And no Jupiter of the Citizens outfit that are put out by Mr Pellegrini can stop the Gunners from Condemning the Citizens to go further behind Arsenal by 4 points in the table at full-time plus the added time.

Arsenal have no any other choice other than to beat Man City at the Ems on Monday night if they want to top the table by 1 point ahead of Leicester City. Leicester City unbeaten away record in the Premier League will cave in and collapse at Goodison Park today as Everton will put an end to Leicester City rampaging away success so far this season. It doesn’t matter if Jamie Vardy and Riyad Marehz will play for Leicester or not. Everton will do the Arsenal bidding by beating Leicester City to all 3 points that will be at stake at Goodison Park this afternoon. So that Arsenal can go top of the table on Monday night before going to Southampton on Boxing Day.

The Boss MUST not play the totally unfit to play Alexis Sanchez in this game even if Mr Pellegrini plays his not totally recovered from injury to play Kun Aguero in this game in his hopes to get a point at the Ems. Sanchez is craving to play in this game because he wants to make up for he’s falling behind Giroud in the race for the Arsenal golden boot award at the end of the season.

Therefore, the Boss SHOULD not start Sanchez for this Man City game on Monday. He should leave him out entirely from his 18 man match day squad for the match. But could includes him for his Boxing Day match squad for the away game to the Saints.

Barcelona are on the horizon in February next year. And we wouldn’t want to see Alexis sidelined before that big Ucl comes up. The Boss should give sufficient healing time for Alexis to totally recovered from his hamstring injury and not rush him into playing games so soon to avoid a relapse of his injury.

The Boss SHOULD not worry himself much on this Ems big game against Man City. Because I personally believe the Gunners will humbled the Citizens by 3 goals to nil at the end of the match. Let the Boss go ahead to start the same starting XI he started for the last away games to Olympiakos and Aston Villa. That team is a balance team pondered upon by the Boss’ selection after Cazorla & Coquelin suddenly became sidelined with mid-term injuries. Therefore, the Boss and the Gunners should believe and be confident they will beat Man City to the collection of all the 3 points that will be at stake at the Ems on Monday night.
