Griezmann asking for Arsenal transfer over Man Utd?

It is no secret that Arsenal have had a close connection with France in recent years. Our manager of now more than 20 years is French for a start, and Arsene Wenger has brought a long and distinguished list of his fellow countrymen to north London.

Arsenal fans have been blessed with the likes of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Laurent Koscielny and Robert Pires, to name but a few, but the list of French players is not over and t5he latest name to be added could be one of the best, if the Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann can be persuaded to come and sign for Arsenal.

The transfer rumours being reported by The Independent and other sources suggest that Manchester United are the next probable destination of the highly rated Frenchman, but reading between the lines it seems to me that he does not really fancy a move to Old Trafford.

Surely a flair player like him, and one who happens to hail from the land of fromage, would prefer to come and play under Wenger for the Gunners. Assuming, as I do, that Alexis Sanchez will not be an Arsenal player for too much longer, is Griezmann the perfect transfer target for us, and one who may actually consider a transfer to us over our Premier League rivals.

  1. Dont take the bait, its just paper bs and not worth reading into it as it is trully false. Remember we are Arsenal after all

  2. It seems to me that Mourinho always wants a physical beast, Drogba and now Lukaku as his main central striker. Cant see a player of Griezmann’s quality playing second fiddle. City have plenty of strikers , so IF he decdides to come to the Prem, it is a realistic chance for us.

    1. agree, would love to have him but how much would he cost? with inflated prices, griezmann could be 120m… but as the article points out- he IS french.

    1. Got to be kidding me, I like draxler but he has nothing on griezmann. He hasnt had a single season as consistent as griezemann has.
Draxler is more like a young ozil, plenty of talent but not yet confirmed whereas griezemann is at alexis level, he’s the leader of France overloaded attack. That should be an enough reason on its own.

  3. Well if he wants wants come then he has my approval. He and Lacazette or even Giroud up front would be fantastic.

If you want PL or CL Trophies, the highest salary and don’t mind the rudeness then go to Mourinho and United.
If you want to be treated with respect as a human being but never win the PL or CL then go to Wenger and Arsenal.

  4. Would be a fantastic addition, especially with Giroud and Lacazette already here to link-up with as he does for France.

However Griezmann is not a “Hidden gem” or “Bargain” or somebody with “Potential for the future”. He’s a proven, well established, top quality world-class player, therefore I struggle to see Arsenal beating other big teams to get his signature.

    1. In our favour: London, capital of the world, In Wenger, a well respected manager especially in France, even though 90% Arsenal fans want him out, A contingent of present French players, many of France’s ex world class players such as Henry, Vieira, Petitt, Pires etc,etc and a club well supported in France by the population. So you never know, but what a coup it would be

      1. Bonus is that he has a 90m release clause, no dumb long arsenal negotiations. Pay the money and take him as simple as it gets. With the amount of cash being thrown around, 90m is a steal for someone this talented.

    1. The other positive is that he is apparently great friends with Lacazette. Griezmann would be a great gain for Arsenal.

  5. As much as I would love to see him in an arsenal shirt,I don’t see the move going through coz he was linked with utd all through the summer this year. Getting him would be like snatching a chocolate away from mourinho’s hands. The only thing that could prompt him to join arsenal could the little FRENCH REVOLUTION the we have with koscielny, debuchy, coquelin, giroud, lacazette ond of course wengrr himself….

  6. I wonder who we will get, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did spend big on Griezmann.
Is Gazidis actually going to make some good changes to allow us to go for players of that calibre?

Gazidis might be getting Raul Sanllehi in from Barca as a Director of operations, working with Wenger to get transfers, this could be good structure for the future.

    New head scout from BvB.

These are the changes I had hoped to see sooner as we need it to get players like Griezmann if we want to compete at the top.

  7. Don’t hype up the transfer of players else it’s gonna be painful when waking up from the sweet slumber.

Don’t forget we are Arsenal. And in AW we don’t have transfer.
