Guardiola to allow Arteta Arsenal switch. Is deal close?

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move to sign former captain Mikel Arteta as our new manager this summer, and Pep Guardiola has just added to the speculation by confirming that he will allow his exit.

Guardiola has just won the Premier League at his second attempt, although our former midfielder had only joined him last summer as his number two, and just how much input Arteta has had on his arrival is unknown.

Of course it would be great to consider bringing Arteta to the club for a number of reasons, but his appointment would definitely be a huge risk due to his inexperience, but that doesn’t appear to have dampened any links to his arrival.

Guardiola certainly isn’t ruling out an approach for him either, and has opened the door for his assistant to leave if given the opportunity.

‘Mikel’s contribution was outstanding, amazing, and we have been so good together,’ said Guardiola.

‘So, if he stays I will be happiest guy in the world. If he decides to move because he has this option I will not say: “You don’t have to go”.

‘I want the best for my friends and he is a friend. If he decides to go I will be sad but I will understand his decision.

‘Because it is his career, his life and family and I am not the right guy to say you don’t have to do that.

‘But hopefully he can stay and finish what we have together in the coming years.’

Would taking Arteta from City be as important to our hopes of winning the league as signing him to our staff is? Could his ability be understated from the outside?

  1. I have already accepted that mikel arteta is the next arsenal manager albeit with a heavy heart.

    i always wanted leonardo jardim.

    1. We dont need a manager who loves power and decide everything by himself we need team efforts

  2. Point to note he is NOT peps number 2
And this would be the worst decision possible in my opinion
No experience (1year as a 3/4 coach at city)
Not a good leader on the pitch
    Not an arsenal legend
    So why
    Cheap
    Will do as he’s told
Cannot think of another pro for him

      1. no2s dond
t usually be good no1s please please please don’t let these rumours be true otherwise our beloved Arsenal is doomed.

    1. John0711

For what it’s worth I agree with you 100%.
All the managers available and Arteta is in the mix?

If it’s “true” about wanting younger coach, there are several WITH EXPERIENCE MANAGING. I’d hope PV before Arteta even considered. Arteta was rubbish with us, he was a “M” not “DM” and only thing I remember of him playing is getting a tooth knocked out and always barking orders which many of his teammates ignored.

If they want inexperience, Henry before Arteta. Henry is a legend, club scoring record, young players still idolize him. Arteta has Pep gassing him up, and what else.

He did wear our shirt for a bit, so technically Arteta was an Arsenal player.

To mention him as a player along with Henry and PV I find laughable. Two of those 3 are legends with stats to prove, the other was mostly a passenger at Arsenal.

FFS, if it is Arteta, sh!t is just getting started with fanbase. Surely Gazidis is taking the pi$$ aye?

      1. Agree-Surely there is NO WAY ON GODS EARTH Kroenke can allow a NOVICE to take over with the Club needing a PROVEN and EXPERIENCED Manager to take the reins.I was at the game and did not see the banners for KRONKE YOUR NEXT being towed by a Light Aircraft above the ground but if the Owner tries to appoint someone on the cheap then the vitriolic abuse Wenger got these last two seasons is NOTHING to what Kroenke can expect.Does he really want to put himself through that? The one thing he knows is that the fan base know how to show their discontent so if that’s what he wants then he will certainly be getting it.
The value of the Club will surely be going down with NO Champions League (AGAIN) and with NO Manager in place at present. He might have got away with it with his NFL Franchise but this is Arsenal Football Club we are talking about here and if he wants to find out what it’s like to try and take on the fan base then F***ING BRING IT ON YOU MUG

    2. Yes, thats what we need now we dont need wenger type again Zidane did it, Pep did it and Arteta is going to do it!!

      1. Spot on. I whave Nader why these plastic fans hating on Arteta when he hasn’t been giving the fans. Too much negetivity

  3. Guardiola was asked about the speculation surrounding Arteta after the game and suggested there was an offer on the table for Arteta to replace Wenger.
The Spaniard said: “If he decides to move because he has this offer, this option, I will not say you don’t have to go. I want the best for my friends, and he’s a friend of mine, and I want the best.”

    “offer”

    must be gazidis then.

    1. Like i said before and i am going to say this again…there is nothing wrong with Arteta being appointed Arsenal manager we are pretty much follow a real madrid model wher we gonna have a coach and instructions will be coming from above – wenger’s model was very bad for arsenal board/management for his last few season

      1. Zidane has nothing to do with deciding who is coming in same as management did in january transfer window and sell Giroud, walcott that wasnt down to wenger and there is nothing wrong with that just bring in right players and things will be just fine

        1. And we had the most experienced manager and see where we are now big name manager/coach doesnt guarantee you anything just get the balance right and we will be just fine and happy again

        2. For the love of ZEUS! Tell me we’re not going to get an absolute novice to manage us! That’s insane.

  4. It’s becoming increasingly clear that Arteta is the favourite. As Gary Neville said the Arsenal board have absolutely botched this recruitment process, if we were to go for a young manager then we should have gone for Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim.

    1. If we had God himself lined up to take over the reigns, Neville would knock it. He’s a Utd fan through and through of course and probably has more than one axe to grind with us so I wouldn’t read too much into what he thinks.

  5. But he has very little experience and no experience at all as head manager?

Are the board stupid or just cheap?

    1. Innit cheap.

      With arteta as manager:

1.Will be paid less than wenger was paid…probably 4M a year.
2.Can work under raul sanlehi and sven mislintat without alot of fuss.
3.Can work with the players arsenal has and will not demand a large transfer kitty as the likes of allegri would.
      4. Arteta would be more of a coach leaving the commercial part to sanlehii, the scouting part to sven and the decisions to gazidis.

in mikel arteta gazidis and the arsenal board have struck gold my friend.

      1. Thats what we need mate wenger was too much as long as Sanllehi and Sven brings in right players we will be fine and wenger was against bring in good players he just believe in his average players and i am glad is gone

    2. As yet we don’t know who is coming. If it is Arteta the board are both stupid and cheap.

      1. jon, Arteta has played too recently with the current Arsenal players and I can’t see how he has demonstrated the leadership, strength and credibility with the players to coach/manage Arsenal FC.
If Arsenal are going for the “cheap” option then Viera and Bergkamp are more credentialed options than Arteta.
Here’s hoping “the Plug” is right about Allegri. The spotlight is on Kroenke and the board.

  6. Nobody is employing Arteta at Arsenal as Wengers replacement, if you believe that you might as well start believing John Cross as well. Kroenke is tight but his investment is already losing value by virtue of two years non ECL. He can not afford for that to continue with the increased wage bill of Ozil and Auba. Bringing in an inexperienced manager at this stage to send Arsenal spiralling into a mid table outfit. Also our newly assembled middle management team aren’t mugs. They will ensure we get the right man in. Pep’s taking the piss and winding up the media. Arsenal will employ a manager capable of resyming our top 4 status.

  7. ARTETA AS OUR MANAGER WOULD AGAIN PUT US FANS AT WAR WITH OUR OWN CLUB. I WARN THE CLUB NOT TO BE SO IDIOTIC! We have already proved we will leave the stadium half empty. If he comes, it won’t stop there. Just forecasting the inevitable! HE WOULD GET HALF A DOZEN GAMES TO LICK THE TEAM INTO SHAPE BEFORE WAR BREAKS OUT , WHEN HE CANNOT DO IT! WE ARE NOW IN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WATERS THAN WHEN WENGER MANAGED. After ten lean years under a legend (and he was), a mere novice who did not even win fans over as a player here, will not be accorded the patience Wenger received before the fans finally turned on him and the club.

    1. Couldn’t say it better myself, only Wenger fans will see this as a positive due to their need for mediocrity

      1. So you call the greatest manager in the history of Arsenal mediocre? It was time for him to leave but he wa a phenomenon By the way I agree that Arteta woulbe a disastrous choice

      2. Wenger fans? “Need for mediocrity”….
You seriously need to have a word with yourself…

          1. Try what? Unless you haven’t noticed Wenger finished today but you are still trying to insult fellow fans. Grow up….

  8. I hope somebody will stop this Arteta joke before I wake up tomorrow. It;s not fair on us long-suffering Arsenal fans!

    1. Well at least you’re consistent. I’ve heard that allot over the years and now that they have it, oh no the waters too cold, my tea is too hot, bunch of whiner’s. Maybe see how it goes, give your bloody support if at all possible, or at least wait til a decision is made, children.

    1. You are obsessed with ramsey mate.
      let it go.

go check which arsenal midfielder has the most goals and assists.

      1. Ha ha ha, what a stupid argument in a situation when we end up 37 points behind ManCity, and 14 points behind 5pur2.
I wonder what would Fabregas do for the club or even better player (which we deserve) if given ramsey s role to have a freedom to run arround like a headless chicken.
Wonder where are those offers from Barca or Real for our golden boy?
Why he is the longest serving player in a team?
        Nobody wanted him!
And he have all the love from delusional Wenger.
This is why he achived such a great numbers which helped us soooo much this bloody season.
So “mate” you are obsessed with him not me, I am just jerking with his fans who are in great fear after Wenger has been sacked!
With new manager Ramsey would be in great danger of loosing all the advantages he has, pardon had with daddy Wenger.
Bye, sleep tight with Ramsey s poster above your head… and please be carefull with your new haircut cos golden boy is having a new one.

  9. Goodevening Siss And Madams, I Would Propose Alegri To Be A Coach Alongside Arteta Assistant.

  10. Gazidis get Julian Nagelsmann for the sake of suffering arsenal fans..we have seen alot of shits..it is time to clean it up.. Nobody else would be better for the job than the next better Guardiola…my lovely Julian Nagelsmann.. He would take us back to the glory years in no time.. Arsenal please give him a chance..make him feel wanted..pursue him!!!!

  11. Pep, Nagelsman, Jardim & Co all started somewhere. In as much as I’m not hoping for Arteta to come in as the next gaffer, I’ll support him & give him the benefit of doubt to succeed. One things for sure though, no manager will be tolerated like Wenger was.

  12. I actually think we should protest if it’s Arteta. He has zero management experience, and isn’t even an Arsenal legend!

The protests would NOT be towards Arteta, I must stress that. We have lots of discussions about the problems at Arsenal, is it Wenger, is it the board, or both? With Wenger gone, it’s now time for the board to step up. If they bring in Arteta, then it’s crystal clear, that the board have ZERO ambition, and are now only concentrating on profits. Arteta would just be a classic ‘yes man’, and no top players will want to join us to play for Arteta (which is the board’s intention, thus to save money). The fans should continue to stay away from the Emirates in their droves.

    Personally, I think it’s Allegri…I hope!

    1. Everyone protests for years to get “anyone but Wenger” but now you want to protest against a man that hasn’t even been appointed yet. How do you know how he will do. It seems Arsenal fans are only happy when they are insulting someone and now Wenger’s gone you have to pick on someone else SMH….

      1. Did you even read my post? Exactly where did I say about protesting against Arteta or insulting him?

Of course no one knows how Arteta would do, but given the wealth of quality managers out there, and the mess we’re in, how could you possibly support the board’s decision to appoint him? Arteta shouldn’t even be an option, let alone a leading candidate! Arsenal fans have been treated terribly by Arsenal for years. I think we’ve pumped in enough money into the club in recent years, to at least expect the board to go after the top names?

          1. There is no way we will win our first ten games with Arteta!
Point is dear Admin that it was important to remove Wenger. Now The Board lost their shield and if they put Arteta in the role and give him 50 mil for transfers then EVERYTHING will be clear 100 %.
            What?
They are milking Arsenal and they care just for bloody profit.

      2. Adim people are allowed opinions wether you like them or not. That’s one of your previous comments !

        1. They are as long as they don’t sweat or use personal abuse. And MY opinion is that WHOEVER gets the job should be given a chance to prove themselves and not be subject to abuse before a ball is even kicked. Or especially before they even get the job!

          1. Well I would never judge someone on just ten games, that’s ridiculous! I would look at it at the end of season, and of course I would be happy change my mind if Arteta did really well. But I am talking about the initial appointment of someone who has NEVER managed a single game of football! We as fans have had to be patient enough to surely finally expect some ambition. It was a lack of ambition to keep sticking with Wenger, and it would be a lack of ambition to go with Arteta.

          2. Sorry Admin, but today is not your finest day. Why we would give chance to Arteta?
Why? if not that Board can do what ever they want.

            1. Why would you give Arteta a chance? I don’t maybe because Arsenal, Spurs and City all fought over getting him as a 1st team coach unlike someone the fans would take in Henry (sums up fans stupidity that.) Maybe because Pep credited Arteta with Sterling’s improved form unless your suggesting Pep made it up and Arteta wasn’t responsible for Sterling’s 1 on 1 training? Lately “One of the reasons we had success this season is because Mikel is here.” but you all know better right? Poch was foolish to want him at Spurs too right? We all know everyone thinks Wenger is foolish but are you trying to suggest Wenger, Pep and Poch’s combined endorsement (in contracts not words) of Arteta (who only played for Wenger) is not worth anything? Seriously if you can’t read between those lines I feel sorry for you. Would I prefer Allegri ofc but I didn’t expect him to leave Juve (fans have this naive belief you just go get someone, same delusion makes some fans think Pep would of come to us over City lol.) Win win with Arteta either he’s great or the likes of Allegri and others who want to stay at their clubs for now become available down the line seems a pretty obvious choice.

              1. Well said mate, I’m sure those three coaches who badly wanted arteta know about more about football than we do

      3. Fans have suffered for over a decade; 14 yrs no title, players regressing, traditional “rivals” now all level above us, and Arteta is rumored to be one of the finalists?

I forgot outrageous ticket prices. Fans been getting mugged for a decade, and you think they are being insulting? Really?

Arsenal supporters have shown ENORMOUS amouts of patience, more than West Ham fans; thats insulting by the way.

Only when seats went empty and indifference set in did the owner do something.

Some comments over the top I agree; calling him cancer, wishing him dead, etc… Are disgusting and revolting.

I’ll tell you what is insulting; naming inexperienced Arteta as manager and talking him up as an Arsenal player to continue club’s traditions. That player would be PV or Henry

      4. Admin, not everyone protested blindly. Some of us always called for caution. Personally on several occasions I argued that getting rid of Wenger was not the difficult part but getting the right replacement. (You can check out my previous writings to verify this).

  13. I for one canot wait for AW,s autobiography, dying to know if AW was starved of cash or he just got too comfortable and out dated in his tactics and in his thinking, which ever the case I wished he had left few years ago so football could of had the greatest manager ever but now it’s a little bit Jekel and Hide story

  14. This is suicide for the club. Fans wont mind arteta coming at all as they will pas on supprting the club. It realy has already began with wenger over staying in the club and arteta will be the peak of the iceberg and ruin us once and for all. Our reputation is on the line here not just a season or two. We wont recover from this as Arteta has not the experience to fix the mess we are currently in.

    1. How do you know how he will perform? Does everything have s crystal ball all of a sudden? I tell you there is no one and no thing that will please some fans. Maybe you should be choosing the new manager as it’s your club and you know better than everyone else who are conducting in depth interviews with the candidates….

      1. Blind optimism is equal of being stupid. Its common sense which tells me that Arteta is not the man to lead us and not a crystal ball. We are not doing good and there is simple to much to do for an in experienced manager to succeed.

Arteta coming means that the board where not prepared to replace Wenger. He would be a panic replacement and not a well thought one. Or he would be a puppet manager.

Neverless Fans wont take this. We have been feed on with bs for way to long just to end up in the end with more of that sort. So watch and learn mr admin.

        1. The fact is that Gazidis has no put a team in place to take all the pressure away from the new manager so that all he has to do is coach the team. We don’t want a new coach with the same power that Wenger had, do we? We want someone who can do training, tactics and man management. Who knows whether Arteta is the man for the job or not, but going by the amount of candidates that Arsenal have been investigating I am willing to think they have got a good idea of who can do that job….

          1. You give Ivan to much credit. He as well is responsible for our current situation. We are not Real M. who have the quality where managers can just line players up and make them play.

Arsenal needs to build and not survive. Arteta would be a manager for the purpose of survival and not one who would rebuild. What Arsenal needs is fixing and investments. Not stagnation.

      2. Admin, this is more than your hypothetical question. Why should it be Arteta of all our former players? Some of us reject him for the following valid reasons: He has been a coach for just two seasons, has not managed anything on his own, was never one of our top players, as a captain he was not motivational, some of his former team mates are still around and may not respect him and above all some of the backroom staff with more experience may detest him. Let us be sensible in this crucial matter.

    2. He may not have the experience but what I care about is whether he has the ABILITY. Everyone started somewhere….

      1. Agree everyone has to start somewhere.

Arteta can start at Swansea in the 2nd division of english football. Lead them to promotion and then there is something to talk about.

Otherwise, poor decision and NEEDLESS risk letting a rube cut his teeth at a “top” club trying to fight their way back to CL.

Gazidis smoking that Anfield swag to consider Arteta, dang.

        1. Klopp did build his reputation like this up. Put Mainz in the Bundesliga from the second league. Secured them a place there. Got the move to Dortmund in time. Made history there. Now he is in the finals with Liverpool and i do hope for the sake of English football they win it.

          1. I agree KS, there is a better way to do things. Klopp cut his teeth at smaller club in german 2nd division. To think Arteta can skip that part, especially in english football, is absolute madness.

Of course Pep talking up Arteta to Arsenal. I’m sure he had Arteta figured out a while back.

With Allegri managing Arsenal, Pep will really be tested at least twice a year, maybe more. Allegri go toe to toe with Pep on sideline tactics, really challenge Pep’s style of play.

Don’t think Pep too worried about outcoaching Arteta on the sidelines. He knows Arteta too well; besides, we need to coach up and organize the defense. Not Arteta’s forte at all.

Damn, someone tell Allegri to buy Ivan a watch, STAT!
Ivan like baubles and shiny trinkets, they should try that.

            1. City are looking to offer Arteta a new contract and had to fight us and Spurs for his signature in the 1st place but keep living your made up dream where Pep hasn’t repeatedly praised Arteta long before the Arsenal links.

              1. Angus

Our problem is lack of defense and mentality. How can Arteta help us improve defensively? He hasn’t exactly learned defensive subtleties from Pep has he? We can attack quite well with Laca and Auba, agree?

We have different opinions, and I can see you returning here and berating fans when Arteta falls flat. I’ll stick with my dreamland as you call it, you can have your nightmare with Arteta.

Anyone else chasing Arteta to manage? Surely Bayern, Milan, and other top clubs lining up for his services aye? How about other EPL clubs needing a manager? Only thing I hear is crickets.

Why isn’t Chelsea after Arteta? Because Chelsea chase titles not inexperienced managers.

          2. Kloop is good but his job at Dortmund was a poor version of Wengers job at Arsenal in a less competitive league yet he’s a legend. Makes you laugh

      2. Are you trolling us to get more clicks or you know Arteta very well and how great football gem he is?

      3. Yes but not at Arsenal damn it. He can go start somewhere else and prove himself and then come to Arsenal.

This is a really really idiotic argument. Of course we dont know how anyone will turn out so lets give them a chance.

This is Arsenal FC, not Burnley, not QPR, Not Southampton these are the type of teams that might decide to give someone with practically 0 experience a punt to see how it turns out.
Not Arsenal FC. We are way way way above that in terms of quality and stature.

One of the richest teams in the world, giving a punt to an ex-footballer with one season of coaching under his belt is a joke. Even considering it is a joke. No wonder all the other fans are laughing at us. We have become the laughing stock of the PL, because of our board, our former manager and some of our fans.

            1. Both Pep and Zidane started with youth teams at the respective clubs. Unfortunately I remember Arteta as an Arsenal player and he was no Pep or Zidane.

  15. I dare the board to do it. There wont be a wenger anymore to shield the board from the mad hord of fans.

  16. arsenal board, should sit down and recalls the current game compare to the one of those days 2004-2005, atleast we want to see a good quality coach like alegri alongside arteta if possible we really want to see back our mood. thanks

  17. I don’t care so much about who we hire as the successor of Arsene but i do care to tell mates that our desire to hire a coach that will hits the ground running may not be realistic and if we desire to build something together I’ll prefer one of Arteta, Vieira or Thierry as a adaption of Pep in Barcã.
I’ll like to remind everyone on here that Pep didn’t deliver the silverware in his first year in charge at City, so maybe the new manager may first get us back in to Champions league then subsequently aim at the championship.

    1. But Pep starting managing Barcelona’s lower division teams! He wasnt just appointed manager after being an assistant for a season

  18. Congratulations to Szczesny for winning the Double with Juventus.

    He was excellent today btw

  19. I find it appalling and very cheap that some dimwit are still talking about the Wenger out faction and whatever else. Friends we are past that stage now. Wenger doesn’t own any faction. Those are simply Arsenal supporters who were mindful of the future and wanted the kind of guarantees, that some people seem to be just waking up to, before changing management. Only a fool now still refers to people as being pro or anti-Wenger! That period has ended. All of us need the best for our Club. There is no need to keep referring to Wenger. If we choose a wrong manager it won’t be long before some of those who call others Wenger people raise up in arms again. That is why some of us are calling for due diligence and wisdom in selecting the next manager. Any choice that falls short of our expectations will not be accepted; hence a new struggle. Is this what the Arsenal management want? They had better think seriously about their decision lest they plunge the Club into chaos.

  20. Hi Admin,

You are playing are really dangerous game here.

Arteta would be a disaster. No experience, no gravitas, unliked by several of current squad.

No big name players will sign for him. It shows a total lack of ambition. If this is what the board are doing we need to fill on protest Kroenke out which I have saying for years anyway and still agree with.

At best an average player, not a club legend, and no actualanagdnt experience.

Can we please get ourselves a proper manager such as Allegri, Ancelloti or Jardin. If it’s an old player then it has to be Veira who has at least has positive actual managrnebt experience.

Come on guys some supporters are so cluded by their anti arsene vibes that they are happy for us to be kid table under an average choice like Arteta.

    1. I completely agree with you. Some people took their hatred for Wenger so far that anything will do for them. But this shortsighted approach can’t be sustained. Soon they will wake up to reality.

  21. Lmao @ all the moaning already! ??
Hey! It’s an end of era guys! Soak it up a little. ???????
Personally, I don’t think that a big named manager will be replacing Wenger and to be honest, i don’t think that it will really matter, as long as we keep our best players. As sad as it was and is, even Admin would do a better job than what Wenger done in the last few seasons. ??
Goodluck to Wenger, it’s just a shame that he had to take the club backwards, before he realised that he could not take it forward anymore.
The only way is up! ?

    1. I agree but I would not give Admin any job at Arsenal 😉
Sorry Admin but some of your posts… jesus!

  22. How about this for a conspiracy theory. Pep talking up ‘outstanding and amazing’ Arteta as next Arsenal manager so that he has one less rival in the future?

I agree with Gary Neville, the board should have already agreed terms with the next manager by now. Instead the fans are being left in limbo with the rumour machines running in overdrive. I wonder if they take any notice of websites such as this one, if so they would get a good idea of how the fans really feel.

    1. Whilst having him as his no.2 and reportedly offering him a new contract. Not to mention the 3 way fight with us and Spurs to get him in the 1st place but yeah it’s all a conspiracy and he is not insanely highly rated as a coach

  23. with Auba…one is guarantee goals

Whoever the new manager is….we will still be top 6

sort out the defense and we will be top 4

to win the title we need at least 4 quality signings….which is unlikely…

Mislintat and Raul was signed to spot young quality and or cheap talents……

hence if fans still think we are gonna spend like City….they will be disappointed….

  24. What the hell is going on here. Arteta has not got the job! All the city boss said was if he is offered it he will let him go. Talk about knee jerk reactions. But….. if he eventually does get it then bloody support him until he fukcs up. Public opinion was the same when Wenger joined and look what he did!!

    1. Fans are just trying to prevent a bad rumour becoming a reality for then it will be too late to reverse it. Must we wait for Arteta to be appointed and then complain? Is that sensible? We are expressing our views now so that Gazidis and his colleagues know our feelings before making any decision. Prevention is better than cure.

  25. Arteta is not qualified to even interview for the Arsenal job. Wenger had already won trophies with Monaco before going to Japan. He had managed super stars like Glen Hoddle and George Weah.
Zidane and Guardiola were club legends who managed the junior sides and had played for their national teams before managing at Real and Barca. They were essentially groomed for the job. What has Arteta done other than buying Gazidis a watch and sitting next to Guardiola for a season. Why would international players like Auba and Ozil even listen to him. This is crazy. If the club want a young manager, they should go for Allegri, Jardim or Emery. They are all below 50. Wenger was 46 and lasted 22 years.

  26. Arteta is the ‘cheap’ choice. Would send Arsenal backwards for years. Cannot believe the course of ‘self destruction’ the board are on. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Get Max Allegri, put up the money and CHALLENGE.

  27. Please no Arteta Please!!
Can any of you imagine Arteta looking up the likes of Cech, Ozil or Kos in the eye and saying you did not play well today ? Does he have in him to rough these guys up ?
We need to bring in someone who gets that respect from the team. Someone the big guys in the team should feel afraid facing up to after a poor performance

  28. No surprise to say that Arteta was at the top of my list, of people who shouldnt get the job.

Having said that, I cant help but wonder if the Board havent been angling for this all along, after all it is what the Kroenkes wanted from the start.

With that in mind I think its telling that some of the new coaching staff coming in Mertesacker and Ljungberg for example are ex Arsenal players. Others have mentioned “the Barcelona way” and I suspect that this is all part of that process.
Ie get the ex players back in to the coaching setup and try and instill a bit of pride and self respect in the current players, who have at times played well, but not for long enough and not consistently enough. It suggests that the board see the current problems at Arsenal as largely a coaching issue, players not performing to their best.
As for Arteta, people may well be right that he is unlikely to convince more senior players to change much, well, it looks like Cech is on his last season or two, probably as the number 2 goakeeper, Koscielney may no longer be able to stay fit enough to handle defending in the premier league and Ozil, well, if someone offers a decent chunk of money for him Id sell him and get someone younger who puts in more effor and is more consistant. As such I dont think they are really important enough to the squad any more to give whoever takes over a problem.

I also think that who Arteta has as his assistant manager will be very interesting. Buvac may well have made up with Klopp, but Rui Faria, Mourinho’s assistant has left ManU. I dont think anyone has confirmed where he is going yet, but an inexperienced number 1 with a very experienced number 2 may work.

Still all up in the air. At this point in time Arteta seems most likely, but I dont rule anyone out. Ancellotti, Jardim, Nagelsmann or even Viera. Find out in the next week or two I guess.

  29. it would seem likely, to me, that any new manager will struggle with the team post Wenger.
It would be no surprise to see a couple of ‘managers’ come and go in the next few seasons before we appoint someone that can take us back to the top. Who is the right man? Time will tell, just hope it is someone who can motivate the team in the big games and not hang onto players who only offer support to the medical staff.

  30. I can see people who are in experienced in judgment are judging arteta is in experienced.Everything now is risk just like when wenger came in so who ever the board appoint to be the next manager we should be in support.

you see us fans we dont get judged by the what we want, one day we want this nxt day we want another but no one will ever judge us for our desicion and even there is one it will have no effect.

So my advice is wenger is now out,who ever come next lets support him even if is Arteta support will be very very important.
