Has Kolasinac been signed to fit Arsenal’s new formation

If reports in the English media are to be believed, Arsenal have finally completed the signing of the Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac on a four-year deal. The player has been heavily linked with a move to North London and it now appears that the club have finally sealed the deal to bring the highly-rated defender to the Emirates.

Reports from the Daily Mail and the Metro claim that the Bosnian international is joining the Gunners based on assurance from the club that manager Arsene Wenger will be staying on at the club and the reports further claim that the players who are currently re-negotiating terms are also being told that the under-fire Gunners boss will remain in-charge of Arsenal.

After Wenger showed that he is open to new tactics after fielding a 3-4-2-1 formation against Middlesbrough on Monday night, it appears the veteran manager has made his first summer acquisition based on his new formation. Considering Nacho Monreal’s woeful performance at left wing-back, it was necessary to get a top-quality replacement and it appears the club has done exactly that.

Wenger himself admitted that he had been pondering over shifting to a back-three for quite some time now and it looks like the signing of Kolasinac has been made with the new system in mind, considering that the Bosnian is a quick and powerful full-back who can also play as a centre-half and as a holding midfielder. While it remains to be seen if the Gunners boss will permanently employ the new formation, it certainly looks like preparations are being made to bring in players who are more likely to fit into that system.

  1. Yes. I have never heard of his name till I read about the news. I hope more top players will be brought next season, to play with the three central defender formation and its variants. Nacho is a very good wingback, but he is getting older. Gibbs will need a good competition. Also I wish they will sign a world class playmaker, as Cazorla is always injured and gets older.

    1. Waiting for the next report which says “Sead Kolasinac spotted at Heathrow Airport” or ” bundesliga wonderkid showed around emirate facilities”

      .

My advice: Let’s all get our hopes up as usual but pray never to suffer cardiac arrest when it comes crashing down

  2. Until the deal is on Arsenal.com don’t count it as done. But all those rumours mean Arsene is staying, if you are still wondering. Else who would be making those transfers?

  3. Another 2 years of Wenger and Arsenals direct rivals wont be the usual like UTD,Chelsea,Liverpool,City and Spuds(who are arch rivals also) but it will be clubs like Stoke,Southampton,West Brom,Crystal palace,Burnley and Bournemouth.Very fearful times ahead for Arsenal FC and us fans.

  4. I only heard of him now but from what ive read he has some good attributes so there is hope
    1. Excellent work rate (he won’t be lazy)
    2. 6 foot tall and can get physical as has broad shoulders and chest
    3. Good in the air. Wins majority of his headers
    4. versatility (can play along the defensive line) has also played holding midfield and left midfield

He looks like he was made for PL football but only time will tell

Also FREE is Wenger’s favourite transfer fee

    1. I actually follow Schalke a bit in the Bundesliga and this is an accurate analysis. The 5th point I feel should be added though is he can pinpoint a cross. This is likely a major factor in his signing.

  5. This js rubish. Why the f..ck are we behaving like small kids. Kolsic who is he i don’t even care. Wenger just makes a change and pple be singing praises wake up thats his job!!!! Infact what has he been doing all season that he didnt change. Wenger out!

  6. Err body on the team gerrin old

    .
& it’s only a matter of time before the Likes of Perez, ozil and sanchez becomes old

    .
So far, how many successors have we been able to find that can fill these aging boots

  7. Blah blah blah £200m war chest, blah blah blah players signing already, blah blah blah players whose contracts are running out will stay if wenger stays.

Wait a minute, must be season ticket renewal time!!!

    1. Arsenal have already had some kind of record with timing of renewals not long back. City have two thousand empty seats for the cup game yet Arsenal have sold all of ours in no time. I don’t think Arsenal have any problems on the ticket front ever. Even the hopping mad protesters hold onto theirs and continue to buy them up.

  8. Wasn’t Xhaka to be the great Messiah, then we bought him and Wenger turned him into crap.

  9. I reckon Arsenal will win the FA Cup, I know, I know I have an appointment with my shrink on Monday
