Has Kolasinac persuaded Max Meyer to join Arsenal?

Sead Kolasinac joined Arsenal last summer from Schalke04 in the Bundesliga, and he could have been instrumental in persuading Max Meyer to move to the Emirates as well on a free transfer. Kolasinac got a massive raise when he was signed by Arsene Wenger as there was no ned for a transfer fee, and it looks like Max Meyer has decided to go the same route. Arsenal have been linked with Meyer for the last few months, and if there is no smoke without fire then it is extremely possible that Meyer could be following his old team-mate to the massive wages on offer in the Premier League.

Meyer’s contract runs out in June, and although Schalke have been trying desperately to get the German international to sign an extension, according to their sporting director Christian Heidel the club have now accepted the attacking midfielder will be leaving at the end of the season.

“At the moment we can and must expect that Max leaves the club in the summer,” Heidel said to reporters on Thursday. “Everything suggests that.”

“There is no offer from us and no wish from Max to have a conversation again.”

It is quite normal for players in German to announce which team they are joining before the end of the season, especially if they are joining Bayern Munich like Kolasinac’s old team-mate Leon Goretzka has already done. But we all know Arsene Wenger hates anyone knowing about his transfer business before Arsenal can announce it to great fanfare, perhaps Kolasinac has persuaded the 22 year-old to join the Gunners?

  1. Max Meyer would be a perfect replacement for Wilshere

Can’t wait to see where he is heading to, but I won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t join, because Arsenal need a new winger more than a new CM

    1. I agree gotanidea, but a DM is number one priority, followed by CB then a winger. I can’t understand why Nelson hasn’t been tried as a winger?

      1. Refer to article on football.london where Max Meyer is currently successfully playing Santi Cazola role with Shalke. He looks a good replacement for Santi as Arsenal’s deep playmaker.

        1. According to rumors, Arsenal chased Pablo Fornals to replace Cazorla, but he finally moved to Villareal. Another missed chance, because the guy plays very well for Villareal now

      2. Nelson had been tried as a left inverted winger, but he failed to impress there. Maitland-Niles was not good as a left wingback as well, but he improved a lot after getting more game time in that position

Therefore Arsenal should play Nelson in the left side more often, if they want him to be a good scorer like Salah and Mane. Unless they want him to deliver more crosses like Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, he should have got more game time in the right wing

  2. This relentless garbage is frankly depressing, why can’t we discuss the question posed, without this continual attacking of an individual please get a life and move on.

    1. Fully agree it depresses me too. Just give it a rest you Wenger Outers it is becoming boring, what happens will happen.

  3. So what topic would you prefer on this site? I’m personally bored with Wenger Out topics, as we already know that he will not go anywhere till the end of this season

  4. I’m amazed some fans think Arsenal could snap up Isco, we will not be signing Isco I highly doubt that rumour. City Che PSG Bayern maybe Manu, I cannot see him wanting to leave Madrid and coming to a sixth place team in England. We’d have to offer him Ozil money. This lad Meyer I don’t really know anything of him, not even sure if we are interested, the way his name came about it seems like it could be his agent trying to gain some offers.
