Has Wenger still got a big surprise for Arsenal fans up his sleeve?

We have now had at least four bits of good news already this summer, the arrival of the classy Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer and of course the club record signing of the prolific striker Alexandre Lacazette. Add to that the 100% confirmation that Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also staying with the club next season. We could add to that Sanogoals leaving, and maybe even Mesut Ozil staying as well, although that is yet to be confirmed.

But we could still be in for yet another bit of good news to improve us even further, as Arsene wenger has made it clear that the Gunners are continuing their search for top class players. He said on Arsenal.com earlier: “There are two ways to strengthen the squad – the first is to analyse where we have not done so well and where we can improve together, and the other way is to bring in players from outside,”

“We are still open to strengthening our team with players coming from outside.

“We are very active on the transfer market and have already realised two incomings. We have to keep a balance as well, that you don’t destabilise the team too much by bringing in too many players.

“But we are still active on the transfer market so let’s see what kind of opportunities we can find.”

This is easily building into being the best-ever transfer window for Arsenal fans, and at least us Gooners can actually believe that Wenger is trying his hardest to make us back into title winning material. It could be Lemar, or Mahrez, or both! Or maybe someone completely different that we haven’t considered ourselves. Whoever they are, I am now looking forward confidently to the beginning of the season for a change!

    1. He was out of Prozac, 3 days ago! ?? it looks like his back on the delusional happy pills, again.

  1. If this rumour becomes true, then it will be the biggest transfer of the summer.

PSG will trigger Neymar’s £195 million release clause and Neymar has already agreed personal terms with PSG

      1. We do but it reflects currently value
Neymar junior pincho babo Santos 195
Carl rodney del boy jenkinson 1 pound 95

        Lionel patricio Francisco messi 265
Jack falwty towers wilshere 2 pound 65

Grab a fiver come to Colney
        We got.bargains to be had

        1. ?? Mate, you write something hilarious and some peeps on here just stare at it with the expression of a Cow ??

      2. It is best not to have a release clause. If you have no release clause you cannot be forced to sell, in other words the selling price can be as high as you want. I think it is the players who want the release clause, no advantage whatsoever for arsenal to have a release clause in a players contract.

        1. True but some of these big clubs stick enormous yet ridiculous valuations on some of those release clauses. Which is mainly to scare potential buyers away, but at the same time it guarantees a good pay day, if and when they choose to sell.

  2. I wouldn’t say it was the best ever transfer window, but it’s certainly a decent one so far.

Any one of the 3 star players being touted would be good, and then…..just need to get rid of the dead wood.

  3. Sell theo
Use the money to hire uri geller
3 hrs with mbappe an no signing?!
    Let uri handle this

  4. Far too early to say this is a good transfer window. We have signed two players, one on a free transfer.

Wenger recently said “We are very active on the transfer market and have already realised two incomings. We have to keep a balance as well, that you don’t destabilise the team too much by bringing in too many players. He is at least consistent, (two to three players maximum in a summer transfer window). We can only expect at most one more top player plus players for the future and players as cover for injuries and to play in the occasional cup match/europa league.

Then there are top players we could sell like sanchez and ozil, despite the assurances they are staying. We have been here before, early purchase then nothing or panic buys at the end, like last season.

    1. Spot on mate, ?? I’ll drink to that!
It’s also funny how a few of youngsters who had great potential have already left the club, during this window.

    2. Well so far the transfer window has seen us replace Sanogo and Kamara with one of the top strikers in the world and the one of the best left backs for a £52m lay out. I would say that is a vast improvement to last seasons squad, seeing as neither player even made an appearance last season. The next stage is to offload around 12 players who made approximately 12 league starts for us between them last season szczesney, macey, iliev, Jenkinson, Debuchy, chambers, Gibbs, toral, wilshire, campbell, akpom and perez, Their departures will open up some much needed space in the first team and quite frankly offload players that wenger obviously no longer rates. Chambers aside I am not sure any of them would be used next season if they stayed. Even if they all went tonight our squad would look this.

      Gk – Cech ospina martinez
Cb – Koscielny mustafi Mertesacker Gabriel Holding Bielik*
Wb – bellerin chamberlain Niles* Monreal kolasinac
      Bramall*
Cm – xhaka ramsey coquelin elneny cazorla willock*
Am – ozil alexis walcott iwobi* Adelaide* Nelson*
Cf – lacazette giroud Welbeck nketiah *

Leaving us 2 spaces to fill

  5. Wenger is now sounding like his good old self again. Which basically means that our transfer business is more or less done. If Sanchez, Ox and Giroud stay, we won’t see anymore major signings. Probably the odd kid here and there. But if any of the above three end up being sold then we can expect to see Wenger’s in-denial split ‘panic buying’ personality kicking into action, in the last few days of this window.

    1. Oh and here’s one of those kids that’s on Wenger’s horizon:

Arsenal are hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of 16-year-old Feyenoord prospect Joshua Zirkzee.
The Holland U16 striker scored 33 goals in 27 games last season and Ajax have already failed in an attempt to lure him to their academy.
Feyenoord want to promote him to their U19s next season but he is considering a move to England with Arsenal and United keen to take him.

      1. The Daily Mail claim that defenders Keiran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy are all set to leave the Emirates over the coming weeks while goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is in Italy finalising a move to Juventus.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere is also being tipped to leave the club after struggling to overcome his injury problems while the Mail claim both Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez could depart this summer.

Those eight players could raise around £100m and release millions in wages which would go a long way to help fund our move for Lemar and leave plenty left over to secure further signings.

The French international has done little to dampen speculation linking him with a move to north London after being snapped posing for photos with young Arsenal fans while at Monaco’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

?? Those young Gooners also claimed that when they asked if he was joining Arsenal ? Lemar Smiled ( like Big Ass Smile) and walked away ?

  6. What are u destabilising in this team for goodness sake. Arsenal fc only have 5 players, 4 on the pitch 1 in the hospital since last year. Has anybody thought about how ridiculed this amiable team has turn to, every player that is not good again for the likes of Chelsea, man u, man city, Napoli automatically becomes our target. It makes me sad when I hear that arsenal are dragging a player with likes of westham, westbrom, Watford and some other relegation battle teams. Considering what happened to arsenal last season we need to buy at least six good players

  7. The 5 players we have are Peter cech,, boss, bellerin and Sanchez on the pitch casola in the hospital since last year

  8. Ha ha it starts again, The Star reporting Benzema to Arsenal !!
As Victor would say “I don’t brlieve it”.

  9. As it stands, this squad is fairly well positioned to compete for the Wenger Cup and make a deep run in the Europa, if and only if we play first stringers in Europe and use the bench for the League and FA Cups…that being said, and based on the fragility of the manager and the team in recent campaigns, it’s more likely that Wenger will focus on a top 4 finish and the FA Cup…while the reasons for such an approach may appear logical, it would confirm a rather disturbing trend and appear counter intuitive for any team which claims to have higher aspirations…I feel that Wenger simply can’t afford to put all his eggs in the Europa basket because if he fails the potential backlash could cripple any top 4 chances due to the aforementioned fragile psyche that tends to rear it’s ugly head like our own personal groundhog day each and every February…furthermore, can you even imagine Wenger bringing in the necessary recruits to adequately supply top quality lineups in a Thursday/Sunday dominated schedule; based on everything I’ve seen in recent years, I can’t see that happening…in fact, mark my words, it’s more likely that we see Lacazette playing out wide in Alexis’s position with Giroud at striker, than we see Wenger make the necessary moves to right this ship…god, I hope I’m wrong but is it really that far-fetched considering what we’ve witnessed for past several years

  10. Looking like another oh nearly season its not going to happen really cant see him buying anymore players going to be scrapping for 7th or 8 th this season oh what joys to be a gooner!!! Hope im wrong but cant see it

  11. I think Sanchez will leave despite Wenger’s claim about not selling players to rivals. He said this same thing when RVP wanted to leave us. What happened at that time? He was sold to united. I can see lemar or mahrez coming. Ozil and ox will stay. We should sell Walcott if good bid comes for him. It’s going to be a very interesting transfer window for all the gooners.
