Have Arsenal blown BIG chance of Premier League title?

I am not quite ready to write off the title hopes of Arsenal just yet. That would be stupid as the Gunners are only two points off the top and the current league leaders Man City and there is a very long way to go and plenty of time for many more twists and turns to this season.

But I cannot help but feel that Arsenal have really missed a trick over the last few weeks. The Gunners were flying high and playing brilliant and well balanced football and so we all expected to beat the spuds at the Emirates and then blow West Brom and Norwich away.

I think we needed to as well because this was a crucial period when Man City, who I still think are the biggest obstacle to us becoming champions, were missing quite a few key players like Aguero, Kompany and David Silva. And they did drop points against Man United and Aston Villa but we did not punish them and now all their big players are back.

This season, with Chelsea and Liverpool enduring slow stars and United struggling to click, looked to be the best chance for the Gunners in years. So by tripping up just when we were set to take control of the title race, have Arsenal handed the initiative back to Man City and to a lesser extent given United a way back into the race?

  1. The last two weeks we had opportunities to lead the League but Lost and drew. When you get opportunities, you need to take advantage

Liverpool looked good againdt Southampton 6-1 in League Cup, so even 4th place doesn’t look secure.

I know we have a lot of injuries but we should have done better in last two PL matches

    1. Every team has injuries,on SKYSports they say since 2014/2015 Man United have had more injuries than Arsenal, even this season Man City also had Aguero,Zabaleta,Kompany,Silva out we must stop complaining and realise our team is not good enough!

  2. we blew it when we signed monsieur wenger to another 3 years. he cares about AFC alright, just not as much as he does about his 8M/year.
i cant wait until he’s gone.

    1. We will never win the league again under Wenger,he doesn’t have the drive or ambition to lead a title winning team!

  3. Yes, we’re only two points behind City and two points in front of the spuds, but we really should have been 5pts clear at the top!
And when you look at the 3 different missed opportunities we had of taking advantage of that situation, we couldn’t even achieve it with Sanchez and Cazorla playing,
So what chance will we have without them playing?
Okay.. Ramsey and Ox are back and hopefully Walcott soon but by the time it takes them to get up to match fitness and some kind of form, We could seriously find ourselves lagging well behind the leader! And out of the top 4.

Tbh, I can’t see how things will suddenly improve, We have seen these movie’s far too many times before, We are still in falling mode and we can’t pick ourselves up until we hit the ground…. I’m guessing at mid January (assessing the damage)

  4. we blew right away when wenger apparently could not see any outfield player who could improve our team. Wenger’s just a pathetic failure.

  5. Time will tell, but injury status says that mancity will trash us on the Emirates and seal our hopes for a title as early as half season. I say our title hopes hang on that and an away game against Southampton. If the club manages to not lose those two games there is still hope, but I honestly doubt it. Two losses are more than realistic with our current form.

  6. I don’t see that arsenal have blown the league anymore than anyone else?

Sure we could have taken advantage by beating spurs, West Brom and Norwich.

But surely all the other teams should have taken advantage of the fact that we have had up to 10 players missing at times.

Regardless that koscielny coquelin cazorla alexis wilshire arteta rosicky and welbeck should be missing against Sunderland, the fact remains that a win could see us top of the league. A team of

    Cech
    Bellerin mertesacker Gabriel Monreal
    Flamini ramsey
    Chamberlain ozil campbell
    Giroud

Ospina, Debuchy, chambers, gibbs, Walcott adelaide, iwobi.

Should still be capable of beating Sunderland and olympiakos
