How important are Bellerin and Monreal to Arsenal’s title push?

Arsenal’s Amazing Full-Backs! by AT

It is safe to say that Arsenal have had a really good 2015. After defending the FA Cup at the end of last season, Arsene Wenger’s side currently sit on top of the table at the halfway point of the season. The Gunners’ rise in form can be attributed to a lot of things, mainly the emergence of Francis Coquelin and the majestic performances of Mesut Ozil. But apart from that, 2015 has seen the emergence of Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin as the country’s best full-back pair.

Since replacing Kieran Gibbs as Arsenal’s first-choice left-back, Monreal has been simply outstanding for the Gunners. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he has turned into the Premier League’s best left-back. The Spaniard is very solid in defence, great going forward and has an unquestionable work ethic as he covers every blade of grass on Arsenal’s left-side. Specifically, when he plays behind Sanchez, the duo have a great understanding and are lethal for the opposition.

Without a doubt, Hector Bellerin has been one of the revelations of the year for Arsenal. Although he’s more of raw potential than a finished product, the La Masia graduate has proved that he belongs in the Arsenal team. With defensive solidity and neat passing to go with lightning pace and an eye for goal, Hector has adapted very easily to the Premier League and has even subject to interest from former club Barcelona! Thankfully, the player has pledged his loyalty to Arsenal.

For me, the Spanish duo have added a degree of stability and dynamism on the flanks. They have played a major role in keeping the defence tight and are also a huge part of the Gunners’ offensive system. So with that being said, I really hope Monreal and Bellerin can continue their outstanding form and stay way from injuries as Arsenal go marching on towards a potential battle for the title.

  1. Both very solid indeed.

Bellerin took a while to get going after injury, but he is getting there after a few games.

  2. I might be biased, but I think we have best GK, CB, LB, DM and CAM in league.

Chech, Kos, Monreal, Coq and Ozil.

Bellerin is top 5 RB for sure

    1. Certainly those players are among the best in the league.

You might get some arguments about LB. Many teams like their LBs.

And don’t forget. Carragher says that Silva is “miles better than Ozil” despite the fact that……………

Ozil has 3 goals and 16 assists whereas Silva has 1 goals and 7 assists and Ozil has been widely lauded as one of the best EPL players of the season whereas NOBODY is suggesting any such thing about Silva.

Pundits like Carragher and Owens establish the rule – in politics and sports analysts must offer opinions……… but those opinions don’t have to make any sense at all and they still get paid.

      1. Only reason they employed as Pundits is because Sh1t sells.
I doubt they believe the ? that comes out their mouths, or maybe they have said it so much they believe it.

I think they also just jealous of our business model and Wenger, creating our own cash while building a new stadium, and remaining in top 4 while Pool spend millions and are no where.

        Jealous for sure.

          1. Jamie still upset from when Henry turned him inside out and made him fall on his a s s. Embarrassing

      2. Wait when did Carragher that ?? Typical Man City ass lickers, really BT love kissing sugar daddy’s a$$, last year they said we should’ve taken Fabregas instead of Ozil. LOL If Silva was as good as they claim then surely, Bayern, Real or Barca would’ve shown interest in him by now.?? But they don’t! Yet Bayern enquired about Ozil last year while Real were contemplating re-buying the player they sold to us, which they never do. Pundit’s like Owen and Carra really shouldn’t be pundits.

  3. My line up for Newcastle

    Giroud
    Iwobi Ozil Ox
    Chambers Ramsey
    Monreal Gabriel Mertesacker Debuchy
    Cech

Bench: Walcott, Bellerin, Campbell, Koscielny, Ospina, Gibbs, Flamini

  4. Hector and Nacho are both important for sure, and so are Cech, Kos, Coq, Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud, Theo, Ramsey, Carzola, etc. Quite obviously, the health of the squad will determine how we weather the 2nd half of the season and having the majority available for the trickier away games (Spuds, ManU, ManC, Everton) would help the cause. Could well be a very interesting end to the season with our 2nd last game against ManC away and our last vs Villa at home.

  5. Can watford pull a little suprise again? I know for sure these guys can score against any other team only their defence can let them down but I hope not today. For our game hope the team maintain their focus on getting all the 3 important points. COYG
