Huddersfield v Arsenal Match Preview, Line-up and Score prediction – Wenger’s Gunners to fire one last time?

Arsene Wenger is set to walk onto a football pitch as Arsenal manager for the last time after 22 years in charge as they travel to Huddersfield for the final match of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Frenchman will likely have his final starting XI selected bar any last minute injuries, and it will certainly be an emotional evening for fans and players alike.

A number of people are expecting Santi Cazorla to be given the nod to make his final appearance for our club also, having suffered a number injury setbacks in recent seasons, but with him well established as a fans favourite thanks to his demeanour and special ability.

Per Mertesacker could also get one final run out as he hangs up his boots to take up a coaching role, and he may well take the place of the suspended youngster Mavropanos, who got himself sent off in midweek.

Predicted XI:

Cech
Bellerin  Mertesacker  Chambers  Kolasinac
Xhaka  Wilshere
Iwobi  Mkhitaryan  Aubameyang
Lacazette

This team certainly has enough ability to bully any team, but for some reason we have been cursed away from home since the turn of the year, and the occasion should well be a strange one, but you would think our players would be boosted by the atmosphere.

Our opponents will be keen to give their fans one last hurrah after an impressive season in which they avoided relegation despite a minimal budget, but you would think that the atmosphere would be very friendly on their part, and I would expect a large amount of their section of the crowd to include Arsenal fans also.

I am getting fed up of predicting wins for our boys and not getting them, but I can’t help but believe that our players will really want to do this today for Wenger, and I will once again go for a comfortable 3-1 win, with Aubameyang getting only his third away goal for us since joining in January.

Will the occasion prove distracting for the players? Does our away form put too much pressure on our team?

  1. Among other largely unnoticed matters about todays games it appears that should West Ham move up from 15th to 10th which is JUST possible , David Moyes contract will mean he gets an extra £500,000 as a managerial bonus(an extra £100,000 for each position higher). Many may shrug and say “So what, I couldn’t care less” and I say those folk are not properly aware of the obscene way that even rank average players and managers are routinely overpaid and we lot who attend or watch Sky / BT are paying for this outrage. There must soon be a sea change in attitudes among ALL true fans, if we are ever to rescue our game from corporate shysters and their vile greed. If you don’t listen to the Moyes example , how about our ex very own Alexis, “Show me the money” Sanchez! We moan because our own multi billionaire will not bankroll our club as Abramovitch once did and as Sheik Mansoor does. But do you all really want a football where titles are decided by the relative ambition of various multi billiponaires? ‘Cos that is what we already have, fellow Gooners. Yes, of COURSE managers have a major role too BUT let us all never lose site of the fact that enormous greed is strangling our sport. If you project forward a decade I believe football will be effectively a plaything only for the stinking rich; fans as well as owners, because billionaires EXPECT us to pay for their pleasure. That is lifes reality . Be warned and fight this cancer steadily killing our world game.

    1. the fa are the ones to blame for the state of football in england, when they allowed clubs selling out to foreigners.they should do as the german bundes lige, when anyone buys into a club they can only buy 49% of said club.and dont pay such exobernt wages to managers and players.

      1. Ah John! If only! How I agree with you! I really feel that the lunatics are running the football asylum and we fans must have far more say in crucial long term decisions if the game is ever to once again become a true sport and not remain a corporate scam.

    2. If your dad was Moyes I’m sure you wouldn’t mind him getting those figures right? But it’s none of my business ?

  2. You heard it first from me, Arteta is going to be the next coach at Arsenal. He was sent to Mancity by the board to learn from Guadiola. This has always been the plan of Gazidis.
