Huge transfer raid on Barcelona to make Arsenal great again?

A large number of Arsenal fans are of the belief that the Gunners will never get the glory days back while Arsene Wenger is still the manager, while many others feel that the Frenchman could propel Arsenal back to the top of English football if he was willing and able to match the really big hitters in the transfer market.

Well we might soon get a chance to find out, as The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal are trying to complete a major swoop on the Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona. It is not a player we are going for though, but their sporting director Raul Sanllehi.

Our Premier League rivals Man City are said to be interested as well and they already have some former Barca top brass in their hierarchy, but if Arsenal, who have apparently already started talking with Sanllehi about him coming to north London, the idea is that he will help to freshen up the transfer policy at Arsenal.

We could certainly do with that after the disappointment of the summer window, and a lot of us think that Wenger has needed help on this front for years, perhaps even since the departure of David Dein all those years ago. Could this one transfer swoop on Barcelona set Arsenal back on the road to glory?

  1. This could turn out to be a grate appointment, my one concern is if truly the stingy Stan kroenken led board will be willing to release the necessary funds to close any deal before other big teams come and steal a match on Us..
Any way it a good step in the right direction
    God bless Arsenal Fc

      1. No way we already have Nelson and Iwobi with Wilshere on the return. Messi is done. Nelson is the future.

  2. with sanchez and ozil both going in january we need someone to get transfer deals over the line instead of stalling and then loosing out on players something has to change with the way we do our transfer business so i am all for bringing in this guy provided he is give the tools to succeed!!

    1. all sounds great but two things…1) If someone from Barca is leaving then Pep will be first in line.. and 2) on the faint chance we get this guy we still have to consider whether Kroenke will allow any transfer monies to be allocated

In any case I am not sure a sporting director from Barca is much to shout about.. dont they just buy people on silly money ? Academy director from eg Southampton or Monaco would be better

  3. If he is also dealing with departures, I’ll be happy. Ozil, Giroud, and Ramsey should leave by all means. Wenger is obsessed with these guys. As long as they are still Arsenal, Wenger will start them ahead of anyone
