I am giving away a Bergkamp-signed Arsenal shirt as a thank you to my loyal followers

First of all I must tell you a little of my recent troubles, as I feel I have been neglecting Just Arsenal lately due to medical problems which ended with a long stay in hospital, which thankfully has ended with Mr Admin being just a few weeks away from a full recovery.

Obviously it was not easy to carry on writing from my hospital bed but I managed to keep the site going while hiding my laptop from the nurses – but obviously the quantity of posts took a bashing at a crucial time in Arsenal’s history and I was worried that I might lose a lot of my loyal readers.

But I managed to keep you all occupied and my work took my mind off my troubles, and now I am convalescing at home I am hopefully back up to speed and keeping you all up-to-date with the latest goings on at the club.

Just this week I was given a boost when JustArsenal was awarded a spot in the Top Ten most influential UK football blogs, which is not just a boost for me but for all my readers and contributors who have made this site what it is, and I am extremely grateful and have decided to give one of our community a special gift as a sign of my appreciation.

I don’t know if many of you actually notice the logo at the top of the JustArsenal website, but it is a load of fans all wearing Arsenal shirts with Dennis Bergkamp written on the back, of course he is one of the Gunners greatest players of all time and will forever be celebrated as such.

Well, I have just acquired from www.TheArsenalShirts.com an old JVC Arsenal shirt signed by the great man himself (with a Certificate of Authentication) and I am going to give it away to one lucky reader. To enter you have to have had at least 100 comments approved on Just Arsenal (to make sure it goes to a regular contributor) and you need to reply to this post saying why you deserve this wonderful piece of Arsenal’s history.

This competition will stay open until the end of the month when I will put all the qualifying names into a hat and announce the lucky winner. Anyone who is interested in any other classic Arsenal shirts should have a look at TheArsenalShirts.com who have a very wide selection in stock….

      1. Thank you Sue and Neil for those very kind words. Like many others I’m a big Dennis Bergkamp fan, have been since following his career as a youngster. Without doubt Arsenal’s greatest ever player and for ten years watching him play, worth every penny of my season ticket. However I’d think this wonderful gesture from Admin should go to a passionate youngster. Good luck Admin and I’m pleased to hear you’re recovering.

            1. And this guys is exactly why Kenny should get it.. a true Arsenal supporter who makes common sense statements on here and thinking about youngsters.
Admin. Definitely give the shirt to Kenny.. he can then decide if he wants to donate to a kid and alls well with the world!
Maybe take a photo of Kenny donating to an Arsenal young fan in hospital and show it on JustArsenal … bring back sanity to the fans .. I can’t imagine anyone on here not thinking this is thr Arsenal way

              1. That’s exactly what I would like to do Neil. With Arsenal’s connections to Great Ormond St hospital, I think that would be the perfect place. Also a bit of publicity for Pat’s (Admin) great forum, JustArsenal. Thanks again Neil and Sue for your recommendation, your comments were very much appreciated.

                1. Okay I think that is a great idea Kenny.
Send me your address and let’s get this moving. An update on my situation. Went to see doc and all healing nicely. Another week or so and I’ll be back to my usual nutty self…

                  1. Admin-that’s a great shout and Kenny you are a top bloke for doing this.
Glad the recovery is going well Admin

                  2. Kenny a fantastic gesture. Admin what a way for a young fan to help with recovery from an illness than the help of Arsenal, as well you know.

COYG – Come on you admin get well soon

                  3. Well done Admin. Nice way for us all to come together again as fans of Arsenal.
                    Wishing you a quick recovery.

                    1. Thank you everybody for the support I’ve received with this venture, Sue, Neil, Phil and Billy and others. At the moment my computer has a problem and writing this message from my phone, bit fidgety, however be back on line soon. In the meantime I’ve contacted Pat and hopefully we can get things moving.

                    2. Brill mate. It will be sent in next couple of days. I am very happy that we sorted this between ourselves and looking forward taking a young goober very happy….

                  1. Admin and Kenny.. I am sure everyone would love to see a photo of the young kid with you two on Just Arsenal as it’s presented.

    1. 1st post and thinking of another gooner, you have a wonderful heart 🙂
If it wasn’t for Kenny good actions I would be saying you deserve it for not being selfish…

Part of me wants to stand in the corner and scream “MINE!!!!” over and over, stamping my feet like a spoilt brat XD

You’re a credit to all us gooners.

      1. Midkemma, you made me laugh with post and also thank you for kind words,. I agree with you that Sue would have been a worthy winner also and I’m sure she would have done the same and Neil I will definitely be getting a picture for everyone to see. Going to call Gt Ormond St tomorrow (Tuesday) to see if we can get things moving. I’ll keep everyone informed as to what’s happening. Kenny

  1. I reckon I should have the shirt for pointing out that the pic is from DB’s testimonial and those are the free T-shirts not replica shirts. I know this because I was there and am still a proud owner of said T-shirt!

  2. I deserve it because.. well I don’t know why but Ive think I’ve been reading this blog for 5-6 years now. Would love THE shirt now that we have new leadership.

    Love,
    McLovin aka juhislihis

  3. I would auction shirt on ebay and donate 100% to Wenger, as he is unemployed and maybe in need of assistance.

In all seriousness, would love to have the jersey, but honestly would auction it on ebay for charity. 100% of money to a cause that JustArsenal readers agreed on.

Or more likely divide money for many charities going by the opinions here, lol.

Naturally i would send proof to Admin. to verify I honored my word.

Otherwise, give it to a youngster and grow another Gooner.

    1. Durand-being the other side of the pond to us I take it you would not have a MERCI ARSENE T-Shirt That was given to all supporters at the final home game v Burnley. If you would like one I will gladly send you mine(trust me it has never been worn-unlike Ken1945 parading around Canada in his).Just let Admin have your address and I’m sure he will send it over to me.

      1. Very nice offer Phil, very generous and considerate.
I appreciate the offer tremendously, however I will pass on this one. I have almost 2 decades of Wenger memories, that’s more than enough.

I will take a MERCI EMERY T-shirt if you have spare one of those. Turning over new leaf and all, you understand Phil.

  4. First of all I want to wish Mr. Admin a quick recovery and all the best. I have no idea if I deserve this shirt, but I am thankful for the platform this site has given me to express my opinion as an Arsenal fan, whether anybody agreed with me or not.

  5. Admin never knew you were sick.
    chin up and quick recovery.

About the signed shirt,i think John0071 deserves it.
Has different views from everyone else which keeps the conversations going.

    1. I just got off on phone conversation where John 007 says that I should be the winner.

      ?

  6. Admin-hope you are ok and getting fit and ready for next season.Best wishes with the recovery and many congratulations with the recognition of JUST ARSENAL.And remember-You need us??

  7. quick recovery Admin..
I would love the Jersey because DB was my idle but I know I don’t have anywhere near enough comments..
in fact I have more articles than comments LOL??

  8. Sorry Admin never knew u were sick.
Thank God u ar back to ur feet.
Wishing u a speedy recovery mate.
    Gunner 4 life.

  9. I probably don’t have 100 posts as I only last year found this wonderful site. But in the even that I do, I am going to comment.

I believe that I deserve this shirt because I am a father of 2 wonderful daughters ages 9 and 6. Every weekend since I can remember we watch Arsena matches. And in the time we couldn’t or there was no games, you’ll find me and my girls hunched over an iPad or iPhone watching highlights from ththe past Recently we watched the top Arsenal goals and my 9 year old who is playing soccer all the time now asked about Bergkamp. She loved his goal against Newcastle and is actually smitten with him. As I wear Arsenal kits all the time on weekends she’s told me I have to get on with his name and number on the back. Much as I’d like to, I can’t afford one. So in awarding me the shirt, you would not only make this fan happy, but you would be making 2 emerging Arsenal fans very happy and keeping the Arsenal tradition alive in my house and in my country as wel as my girls will spread the Arsenal word throughout he USA and philadelphia area.

    1. I have family in York – just west of Philly.
I love Pennsylvania and they do enjoy the Premiership…

  10. Keep the shirt Admin – its not as if a signed Bergkamp shirt will ever come around again…

  11. Admin did not know you were unwell, glad to hear your recovering well & near getting home. Alot of respect from me running this site from ur bedside in the hospital, hats off to you Sir.

Not sure if i qualify though your health is more important & another sign of a true gent giving someone the oppurtunity to win the Signed Bergkamp shirt. Whoever wins enjoy Gooner ?

  12. Me Me Me Me !
I am me – not thou or thee, he or she just me !
And I am pleased with Emery.
Who seems to use about three litres of hair gel a day
I want to see him kick Ozil’s butt out of the club – what a disgraceful player…
He might get a shock or two…

  13. I will love to have one , though I am still enjoying the shirts l won on this platform before. Gracia

  14. Probably not got enough posts, but life without seeing Bergkamp play live would be so much poorer. Best wishes with your recovery.

  15. Get well soon admin. We love your posts and articles and work that you do. We are lucky to have you. I am glad that there is a website like this for fellow gooners. We even managed to get a season of fantasy football going so well done admin. Tha k you again and get well soon.

  16. Firstly get well soon
Secondly although I would love the shirt I suggest You keep and wear it to the first home game of the season take a pic of you at the game. Post the picture on this site. It would be a celebration of the site/posts and fans accumulated over the years and a positive vision moving forward, that way we all
Get to celebrate . I must admit sometimes the comments on here drive me mad but I keep coming back so you must be doing something right

    1. John I also get mad at comments on here and .mainly ones by you … ha ha ! However well said sir
I also made a suggestion earlier on this post ‘re Kenny Rolfe receiving it and then donating to a young Arsenal fan in hospital and taking a photo..

I think we all have to come together now Arsene has stepped down. Let’s turn our ire and anger in a friendly way to the opposition so our players feel like we are the 12th man on the pitch.

  17. God speed on your recovery admin .

If anyone deserves the shirt . It’s the foundation .
I joined quite a few years back an if it wasn’t for fatboy nygunner payslip mclovin anD others and there banter I’d have never came back .

Great place to moan crack jokes and debate .
I’ve talked about unicorns r Kelly. Tamone and pumba

    Only here …

    1. Actually muff u deserve it too I love ur humour and miss when ur not here” in a manly way of course “

      1. I hope u smashed a beer can against your head after typing that .
        I chopped a tree .

        Men John . Men

        Appreciate it. 🙂

        1. I did muff, I even told the mrs get the tea on “ she was upstairs so it’s not my fault she didn’t hear me.

    2. There is off course the elephant in the room (metaphorically speaking and not literal) fat boy. What happened to him?

  18. It will go nicely with my two Just Arsenal shirts.

    Btw why did that stop.

Speedy recovery to you and Arsenal.

  19. True story – Bergkamp once gave me a signed shirt because I taught him the skill for the goal he scored against Newcastle.

      1. I know! When I gave him a signed shirt and said you’re welcome he didn’t seem to appreciate it ???

  20. By the way admin, if you you don’t like the new home kit for eff sake don’t look at the new away kit because you will have a relapse !

  21. Get well soon, sorry for few of my posts saying that some of articles were boring or that you guys sometimes just trolling to get more clicks.

  22. Get well real soon admin

We should have a vote who gets the shirt,

Thumbs up if muff gets it
Thumbs down if Duran gets it
No Thumbs up or down if you want me to have it.

    ?

  23. Get well soon admin

JUST IN: Lichtsteiner was on 48,000 a week contract . we could offer him 60-80 which is very affordable and reasonable bearing in mind that MERTESACKER was on more the whole of last season doing nothing . same as Carzola.

  24. Hello Mr Admin, I’m a silent reader of blog, I say silent coz I don’t comment on any post last week was the first time I commented on a post (and that was because I got angered by someone who said Sterling is the most technically gifted player in the premier league) after over 4years of following this blog. So I know I don’t deserve it simple! But, who wouldn’t love to have a DB10’s shirt, let alone a signed one?

  25. Hello Mr Admin,
I deserve the signed Bergkamp shirt because I have the club motto as my username .

  26. Quick recovery Sire Admin.

You should know that the medical that made you convalescing is this Great Arsenal follower @JustArsenal we are the Medication not any single Docs medic.
I need the DB signed shirt Because I have no access to travel to London To watch my Darling Arsenal Live but if I can get the DB Shirt it serves as my Travel and a broadcast from Langtang Nigeria… Will snap once with it and keep it save for my burial shirt.. live and die in Arsenal.

  27. Get well soon Admin.

Congrats also on your achievement with the forum

Enjoyed most articles posted and always looking forward to comment from the fans. Those that disagree to agree, those that picks on others comment , analyst on every game played and the silent readers like myself…..really fun to have you around

Great to have a forum like this that unites fans despite varied background.

Can’t wait for the new season to start

    Gracias

  28. Dennis Bergkamp, in my opinion, was the greatest footballer to wear an Arsenal shirt (Henry included) since I started supporting the club in 1958. He had everything, power, grace, vision and a level of nastiness when required. It’s no coincidence that he probably scored the three best goals of all time, including the near impossible one against Argentina.

Admin, I think you should keep the shirt as previously suggested, congrats on the award and hope that you fully recover soon.

    1. Andrew E, as a fan of the Arsenal for 56 years, I agree totally in your assessment of Dennis Bergkamp.
Admin, as someone who has had their own health issues over the last 6 years, including surviving renal cancer, I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
Thank you for your efforts in administering justarsenal and congratulations to you and my fellow contributers for the recognition of this award.

        1. Ozziegunner top man for beating that horrible disease, lost my dad to pancreatic cancer over 2 years ago so hearing other people surviving is always nice to know ?

          1. John, I feel your pain; lost an Aunt to pancreatic cancer and unfortunately only 5% of patients last longer than 12 months after dianosis. Also lost my younger sister at 56 to neuro endocrine carcinoma (the same cancer that killed Steve Job of Apple). As for myself you just have to play the cards you are dealt, stay positive and take each day as it comes.

            1. Yeah correct Ozziegunner, my old man was fortunate to qualify for the Whipple procedure but his cancer metastasied to his liver and died 13 months after his operation. I’m sorry to hear of your sisters passing mate and yes that’s a complicated form of cancer. Strong mind set Ozziegunner it can get you through some dark times and as you said positivity ?

  29. I started supporting Arsenal since the 2004 season, and since that day I have dreamed of watching the gunners play in real life. Unfortunately I have not been able to watch them play until now, hopefully soon in the future! I am from Indonesia and I heard Arsenal are having a tour to Singapore, would die to be able to watch them play once in my life. #onceagooneralwaysagooner

  30. Admin,
    A speedy recovery from myself.
I hope I made you laugh by inadvertently using the term pr@@@ed whilst you were recovering.
Like Kenny Rolfe, DB was the absolute Need Knees and hope he one day returns to the club.
My vote goes to Sue, who, whatever the subject, brings everything back to reality with her telling comments or her smiling little faces.
Also congratulations on the award, this site is indeed a Gooners paradise for debating.

  31. Just now read this post Mr Admin. I hope you continue your recovery and wish you every good wish. On a lighter note, I am not interested in a BERGKAMP SHIRT even though I will love the great man til I die. At my age wearing a players shirt would make me look ridiculous. Good luck to you!

  32. firstly , i wish to make clear that i am not applying for the bergkamp shirt, as i dont deserve it . secondly , i think this is a wonderful thing that you are doing . bergkamp is one of my top 3 favourite players. thirdly, i want to wish you , mr.admin , a speedy recovery, i hope everything goes well for you . i am assuming that you will be in tip top form for the big kick off in august. good luck to ya .

  33. Why should i win this shirt? Because im Arsenal through and through. My blood, hair and bad jokes. Im an Arsenal fan for life……

  34. I am a HUGE Bergkamp fan. Watched his entire career with great interest .
    He was a fantastic Goalkeeper

    1. are you ok, hope you ain’t in bed closer to admin. hahhahahhahahahaahhaha.
      that’s on a lighter note

  35. I have a crush, a HOT brunette hip size 42 with waist 23,,, truly cute face. But I don’t have any money to ask her out since my pocket money is not enough for judo and savings.
Admin, kindly send ne the tshirt so that I wear it to lure/attract my crush or if that fails, auction it and use the money to ask the lady out ☺️☺️

    1. Why not just do what everyone else does and take her on a date to KFC and get a bucket with all the bells and whistles?

  36. Glad to hear you’re on the up and up. Good job, chin up buddy.

If it goes to my home it will be going to a good home. After myself I have two brothers, one sister, and my Dad being all being huge Arsenal fans and loving Dennis Bergkamp as much as anyone can love another man ..from afar. Now, I have plenty of nieces and nephews supporting the greatest club that the world has ever seen. Growing up most of the friends I made, became future Arsenal fans and passed that on to their little ones. I’m quite proud of that, whenever I see my old friends, it’s nice hearing how they’ve become genuine Arsenal fans. Whether I get the jersey or not, it’s been a pleasure talking with my fellow Gooner’s on here, so good job bro from me and everyone else in here.

  37. Id say. One who wins the D Bergkamp shirt from admin should keep it till we next play Tottenham at White hart lane and then donate it to a young and loyal Spuds supporter after obviously removing the Spuds shirt he/she has on infront of his/her parents. Hopefully that can be after we beat them and seeing the tears in the supporters eyes…

Theres no telling what will be done to the shirt by him/her or the parents. I can just think that it might be set on fire so my suggestion might not be as good as i think.

Anyway, glad to hear that youre doing well Admin.

  38. How ironic that you’ve been fighting a serious and life changing illness while we’ve been banging on about that old French bloke etc…. It gives a real perspective on what’s really important in life but well done and thanks admin for keeping things going for the rest of us while you’ve been dealing with really important stuff. There’s a lot of love on here from our Arsenal family which makes me proud to be a gooner..

  39. I’d love to… but reading what Admin has said about Kenny and his suggestion, that sounds best.

My memory is a big off on this, was Bergkamp the last signing we made pre Wenger? I know Rioch signed him but next season Wenger came in and he was the one who told Dein to get Vieira… so Even before Wenger joined he was having an input in transfers but Bergkamp was too early…

Was he the last signing AFC made before Wenger?

  40. Sorry to hear about your health challenge, Admin.
Not interested in the Bergkamp signed T-shirt. Great player in his time, matured, calm and supremely gifted.
Do give a deserving fan the signed shirt.

  41. Emery has picked up the Wenger mantle of we wanted to sign……..we almost signed……..
Fabhino. This is what success gets you more success as players want to come.
Fekir next? If they get their gk sorted they’ll be a force next year.

  42. Also ot
I watched a recorded game between Saville and real betis tonight.
Loving nzonzis contribution he shallows up the pitch with that rangy stride making tackles and distributing the ball beautifully.
    Hope we go for him.

  43. Get soon fella!!
I believe I’m regular ish on here and believe I deserve it, (bit strong) as I too have health issues that have been with me for 6 years and I continue to decline. I’m only 47 and used to play in goal and be a county athlete now I’m bed bound some days.
Anyway enough of me but basically I’m a miserable sad man a lot of the time,(glad to say the Wenger gloom had gone from my home!) And this shirt would give me a real boost in spirits.

    1. Hi Ronny, I’m afraid the concensus has persuade me to send the shirt to Kenny Rolfe, who will then give it to a young Gooner in St Ormond Street hospital.
All of us who have had medical problems can only appreciate how much it would mean to a very sick youngster to get a boost like that while in hospital…
But I really appreciate all the good wishes and I am trying to get more goodies for competition prizes in the future…
