Get behind the team – Arsenal must still win a Champions League place

Arsenal must qualify for the Champions league this season, more than ever by SK

Hello again family! I hope we are gradually moving on from the scandalous defeat to Bayern Munich and looking unto a better end to the season? The game against Bayern has been lost and no matter how much we groan and moan, the results can’t be changed, so we just need to move on and pray such a defeat does not come our way again in a long long time.

Well, in the spirit of moving on, one thing we must make sure we achieve this season is the annual Champions league qualification. No matter who leaves or remains at the end of the season, we must try our best not to disrupt the flow of the Champions league. You may be tempted to ask, why qualifying for the Champions league, only to go and get whopped every season? Well, there are many benefits we stand to gain if we still manage to qualify. I will highlight a few.

The first benefit of qualifying for the Champions league is that by qualifying, we are sending a message out to the rest of Europe that we are not ready to stop playing amongst the big boys just because we don’t do well in the competition. Can you imagine not qualifying for the FIFA World cup? How would the English take it? How would they feel if they are watching other teams play while their team sits at home? Despite the fact that England does not really do well in the World cup, they must still qualify and maintain their status among the big boys in football! It is a taboo if Arsenal F.C does not play in the Champions league next season. We MUST qualify.

The second is the financial benefit we will get just for qualifying! No matter how bad we feel about the way we play, we can’t take away the financial position of our team. We are among the top ten richest clubs in the world and maintaining that means we must qualify for the Champions league, as that is one major way we make money. The gate fees for matches and the sales of souvenirs, is one way we make our money and we must try our best not to miss this for another season. We are a big club and big clubs play in the big competitions.

The last reason I want us to qualify for the Champions league, is because if we qualify for the Champions league, we stand the chance to still sign at least two or three quality players, next season. If Ozil and Sanchez decide to call it quits with us at the end of the season, we can’t avoid not having one or two quality players in our team. It is of no use if Wenger leaves the club and a new manager comes in and does not have quality players to work with at the start of next season. A young coach, who knows how to win and manage success, should be able to attract world class players but his task will be made easy if there a chance of the players competing in the Champions league. We need to attract world class players, irrespective of what happens this season.

Folks, we need to rally together one more time and push our club into the Champions league one more time, it will be worth it, and don’t you think so?

Sylvester

  1. I like your caption: Arsenal May so that means you aren’t sure? Wenger has other ideas, I hope he rest Alexis, the Boss, Mustaphi n cech for the final 5 matches of the league… Clown

    1. Ozils has been offered 280 k a week

This is desperate act to keep at least one star in our team as sanchez is leaving. Placate the fans not realising were not bothered by his name anymore. We know he’s lazy weak and unprofessional
      He’s barely worth half that.
      This.clubs stupidity amazes me
Wenger to stay it looks like.

      Groundhog decade

  2. What if the extension of Wenger’s contract is tied to making the top 4,would you still want to make top 4??? I personally prefer otherwise..simple!

  3. What some people are scared of that is making them want Wenger to stay for life will eventually happen one day…

Infact, the way we are going now, that we are breaking and making bad records, very soon we will break the record and miss out of the top 4…

If Wenger/Arsenal can announce now that Wenger will leave this summer, then my stance on making the top 4 will change accordingly…

  4. What’s the whole purpose of qualifying anyway?

Getting bullied all the time and been knocked out. We are now the laughing stock of Europe. Apart from Wenger’s bosses getting more money from our qualification what’s the benefit for us fans.

Maybe some time in Europa would do us good and finally send Wenger packing!!!

      1. quantic dream

I wouldn’t bet my money on us winning the Europa league either. We barely succeed in the FA and League cup. As long as Wenger is around, we can forget winning any trophy of note, more so a European trophy.

  5. Are you Arsenal fans?
If so then get behind the team you support and back them, even if they are not performing we should be getting behind them and supporting them, make other teams jealous of how passionate we can be in getting behind the team. Make it so other players admire how we treat the players who represent us.

As for the Wenger bashers, what are you? 10 years old and ignorant of how the club is ran?

It is about time people started moaning at the board.
    Board offer contracts to Wenger
    Board set targets
Board sets a lack of ambition for the club.

Seriously, all this site is becoming is an echo chamber for the fucking stupid and retarded.

  6. Shutup…… We don’t need a champions league spot…… We dn’t even deserve one!
    .
    Honestly……f**k

  7. That is what’s wrong you see.

Let’s get behind the team as in let’s give the impression that all is well in the camp and we are content with how things are run and more importantly how the team is managed and performs (or not) on the pitch.

NO….stop giving the board a reason to maintain the financially driven status quo by keeping wenger in the hot seat.

Shout from the roof tops we demand more from our club (the sleeping giant it is) and let the powers that be know we aren’t happy with financial success only and that they need to act in the best interests of the ‘footballing’ future of AFC.

  8. I personally hope we miss out on the top four. Sanchez will most probably leave even if get a Champions League spot, and he’s the only one I want to keep. Missing out means Wenger may finally leave, and hopefully take Ozil with him!

The club needs to take a big step back for change, and progress, to finally happen. Missing out on Europe will ironically improve our chances at winning the league anyhow.

  9. To those of you who want us not to get top 4 so Wenger leaves – get a grip on yourselves. First of all, there’s no guarantee that AW will step down should we not qualify for CL. And secondly, I agree with the OP that it’s one of the biggest attractions when signing new players, in addition to extra cash, of course that can be used to buy/pay those players. So no matter how you look at it, CL is pretty much a must for any club that wants to be known as a BIG club. It’s also important for extending the fan base. Premier League is popular, but Champions League is where the real competition is. It’s televised around the world, and it’s good to have that kind of exposure.

    1. Oh yes, tv and money, money and tv.

And who would deprive the board of that or the potential and existing fans around the world who can marvel at us getting ‘utterly and frequently made to look like mugs’ on the European stage..

  10. I pray and hope we miss out on this silly thing called champion’s league…… It’s indeed a pain in d a**!
    .
Then miss out on wenger’s too to spice the soup…

  11. champions league only matters to our profits. We serve no other purpose in the competition, so why put so much importance on finishing there? Especially with Wenger still in charge the following year, it’ll just be more humiliation. Nothing else matters at the moment besides getting rid of Arsene Wenger. I wish more could be done about ownership as well, because that needs changing as well, but one step at a time.

  12. We really need to miss out on everything…… Fire this man wenger…..Go back to the drawing…. Lay back and regroup…..start afresh mehn!
    .
We are completely stale and covered in fungus…..

  13. I think we should weather you want him IN or OUT!

If he makes it to a top 4 and maybe top 3 finish and goes whoever comes in will have arguments to attract world class players with promise of playing UCL but also have valid arguments to try and retain Alexis and/or Özil and that is important.

Frankly the FA Cup is secondary for me. It would be good if we win it but not that important and might give ammo to Wenger’s stay for another 2 years.

  14. It won’t be fatal if we miss a year or two of Champions League
What’s more important is a good manager who can fix or rebuild the squad for the future

  15. I think have read it at Untold Arsenal before, that the fans have driven players and manager away before by their protest tantrums and booing. So it is true to type right now.
Wenger out, you are damned. Wenger in, you are damned. You are damned anyway. O bladdy, O bladda, life goes on.
