Indepth analysis of ALL Arsenal’s striker targets

Statistics for Arsenal’s striker targets by AB

Went full Baden Powell & did a brief comparison of shot frequency, shot accuracy, finishing rate, assist totals for the strikers we have been most linked with. Don’t know how useful it is, as it won’t tell the whole story- they are in different leagues & the quality of opposition will be different, they’re in different teams with different teammate abilities, & they are at different stages in their career, plus there are other big aspects to their games not considered- but it definitely gives you an idea of their eye for goal & their finishing ability:

  1. “So there you have it. Looking at these figures who would you ant Arsenal to go for?”

    Sanogo.

    1. These figures shows how class Suarez and aguero are.

Giroud stats are good but he is shot shy in terms of attempts (iCardi is similar)
Players like Higuain n Kane are volume strikers they have many attempts.

Millik n Jansen are worth a punt instead of spending loads on morata

  2. That Xhaka deal is a great piece of business on Wenger’s part…gotta give credit where credit is due.
Now hopefully he understands that Xhaka alone will not be enough and him having said that he is looking to get in at least 3 players is a good sign.
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again. In my opinion Morata is a younger version of Higuain who’s had a up/down season at Juventus specially with Dybala flourishing. At 40m he is a great piece of business as well but with rumours talking about 51m & 155K/week for that price I don’t think it would be smart business as he’s never given more than 20G/season.
We need a proven striker & so I would go for Lukkaku who is EPL ready on top of showing that eye for goal which could still improve considering his age & our midfield!! Higuain would be the perfect target!
Malik & Janssen haven’t seen much so I can’t tell…but do we want bargains that could or could not translate well to english football?!

    1. Didn’t see the point. Wenger would never sign a 34 year old- goes against his ethos, he’d sooner give Akpom an opportunity. Didn’t bother with Lewandowski either as its not happening.

      1. Hahaha ?
So why is Suarez and Aguero etc on your list?
They are not happening either! ?

          1. 33 when we signed him- keepers also play at the top for longer. I’m sure the rumoured ego would be a red flag to Wenger too.

        1. The top 7 were supposed to be the rumoured targets & the rest in there for comparison, as it states.

  3. Call me bitter but I’ve never seen a more undeserving club to win the FA Cup than Man U today.

      1. @FbG
And it was as blatant as it gets…Clattenburg is usually a solid, non biased ref. But it sure seemed he took a brown envelope for this one…

  4. For me, Lukaku shld be off the the list. He had his chance at Chelsea and cracked under pressure. When you need him most, he disappears. For me, Chicharito, Lacazette and the Sevilla striker (forgotten his name). Chicharito and any one of these French guys will be a bargin. If we spend £50 mil on a player, then Lewa period.

  5. Where is Lacazette in all this. Last season he was great and even this season he scored more than 20 goals in ligue 1 without his mate Fekir. He is available, he French, he is a mobile striker and he would cost £25 mil.

Morata seems to cost too much, his price is over inflated.

    1. Only one of girouds goals was from a penalty, some of the others are much more, like kane and vardy who have five penalties each. If you take the penalties out then giroud stats compare very well to kane and vardy.

  6. Icardi may have been a bit shot shy this year but last season he took 120 shots with 22 goals in 33 starts. He has improved his accuracy this season though, the previous 2 seasons he was around between 25 and 30% on target. I have not seen anything of him but his stats are impressive. Not sure what his price would be but he’s not going to be in Higuain’s range. Morata seems seriously over valued.
If money was no object I’d say Higuain but Arsene won’t spend that sort of money. Hig’s scored between 28 and 32 goals per season all his career and got even more this season, he’s a goal machine. Suarez is going no where, Aubamwhatsit is going to Real or maybe Bayern. Milik might be worth a shot but the Dutch league is not the EPL. What about Lacazette?

    1. Lacazette: 34 Ligue 1 starts, 21 goals, 3 assists, 95 shots (2.79 shots/game), on target: 51/95 (53.68%), 22.11% shot conversion rate

  7. Not a lot of games but Welbeck’s stats stock up pretty good in this list. Gutted for him. If Ibrahimovic wasn’t such a dick I’d be happy to see him come in for a year while Danny gets healthy.

    1. I did an analysis of minutes played per non penalty goal in the PL. Aguerro was best (118 min) followeg by welbeck (145 min) then giroud (162 min), kane ( 168 min), vardy (165 min ).

So welbeck stats were good but not very meaningful because playing time was so limited. However welbeck scored two match winning goals. It is a real shame he has been plagued by injuries this season and next. It may have been the case that welbeck could have answered our stiker problem if he had been fit this season.

  8. Both jansen nd lacazett will not cost us much as only morata will do on both sign up fees nd their weekly wages….. @least with both of them on bench for arsenal will get d best of ozil, sanchez nd d rest @all with options
