Is Ozil scouting German stars for Arsenal ?

Following on from concluding a shakey but progressive group stage campaign at the current European championships, Ozil has been a bit hit and miss in the opening games. Rated impressively in their last match vs Northern Ireland, he has also gone missing at times on the pitch during the tournament so far. Germany haven’t been overly impressive as a whole, but have still of course qualified for the round of 16.

After the final game was concluded, Ozil was keen to speak to the media about some of his fellow teammates and countrymen in regards to their growing talent.

Speaking to Bild, Ozil said: “German youth players have excellent reputations, and top foreign clubs become aware of them quickly. If a player in the German national team asks me how it is in England, I’d reply: ‘If you have the opportunity to do it!’ If I was again facing a decision whether to move abroad, I would do it like this again, 100 percent.”

Germany has a wonderful reputation for producing some of the world’s finest players and arguably at the moment they boast the best squad not just in Europe, but in the world, following on from their World Cup win in 2014. The German national team has some young talents in it this summer, many of which have been linked with big clubs across Europe. But there is a few German players I think Arsenal should be focusing on.

We heard recently how German defender Mats Hummels said that he had never been contacted by Arsenal before his big money move to Bayern Munich, suggesting that perhaps he would’ve come to England with the Gunners if given the chance. Well for both Mario Gotze and Julien Draxler, it seems that it is a possible reality and I think Arsenal should be going above and beyond to try and secure these two.

There is no doubts at all in this pair’s ability on the field. Gotze can operate in a number of positions on the pitch and is ever impressive, but he is currently limited in playing time due to competition for places in Bayern Munich’s midfield. Draxler on the other hand is a winger turned striker, with the player regularly featuring for Wolfsburg up front last season and impressing in that role too. Both have been heavily linked with Arsenal. Another player that comes to mind is 20 year old Leroy Sane, who has been linked with Europe’s biggest clubs. Sane however is likely to be signing for Manchester City this summer in a big money move.

Germany have plenty of young talent available, especially in midfield (although I think we have enough midfielders for now), so if Ozil is giving out hints to Wenger that perhaps he should be taking a look at some of Ozil’s fellow teammates while he is persuading them to move to England, then Le Prof certainly needs to get his act on.

    1. Love? ? Maybe thats why Arsenal fc sent Özil a love message on Facebook, because he is tapping up a few of his young teammate’s! ??
I would welcome Draxler and Gotze to Arsenal with open arms.

  1. what we need more than these two fine football players is a proven nr 9. Neither oh these guys are likely to be a big hit taking over from Giroud. In Sanchez we already have one of the world’s finest wide players and an other onbe would be great but at this time, an un needed luxury if it means we don’t sign a top nr 9.

  2. simple sign them both and the font 4 would be sanchez, drax, ozil and gotze and don’t tell me that doesn’t excite you with giroud as a back up

  3. There’s something cooking in Germany, regarding Aubameyang, according to German bookmakers Bwin,
There has been a large amount of bets placed on the Gabon striker, joining Arsenal.
The odds have dropped down to 4/1 from 12’s.
The reports also claim that his move to City has stalled and that Wenger is under pressure to sign a quality striker, after being snubbed by Vardy.

I doubt that punter’s would knowingly throw their money down the drain, so obviously someone somewhere must know something, even though this wouldn’t be the first time that these kind of large bets have been proven fruitless, in the past, but it still gives us some hope that Wenger may surprise us! … lets hope that wenger has taken the time to call Aubameyang and trick him into coming to Arsenal. .. Oooops! ?. .. I meant sweet talk him into coming! ?
