Is Rooney injury good news for Wilshere AND Arsenal?

As Arsenal fans and Arsene Wenger wait nervously and hope that no more of our players picks up an injury in the international games still to be played this week, thoughts will inevitably turn more and more towards Old Trafford and the big Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United this weekend.

While the Gunners have quite a few injury problems of our own to concern us, Jose Mourinho is not without issues in his Manchester United squad and he may just have been given one more as the BBC is reporting that the England and United captain Wayne Rooney will not play for the three lions in their friendly against Spain as he picked up a knock in training.

We will have to wait and see whether Rooney is fit enough to face Arsenal and to be honest I am not sure whether it would help us or not as his form has been nothing to fear. I suppose any players unavailable to Mourinho is a help but don’t forget what happened when we faced a weakened United side last season.

The Rooney in jury should be a bigger help to one Arsenal man at least, the on loan midfield star Jack Wilshere who may well be in line for a return to the England first team in Rooney’s absence and that is just what the injury hit star could do with as he travels down the road to full recovery and attempts to save his Arsenal career.

Will Jack get a game? Will United be without their captain on Saturday? Would it be a boost if they are? Which side’s injury problems will have the biggest say?

  1. I’ll be honest here, I’m sick of international football it’s almost like lower division football to me, I have very little interest with it. As for Jack, I see him as a Bournemouth player until he comes back and plays for us, that’s if he comes back, which I think he will. Rooney, an injury to him would probably do utd a favor at this stage, he’s not a midfielder and he’s not a good enough number 10. He’s a goalscorer, well he used to be. We give out about Giroud but I’d take Giroud over crater top any day.

  2. I agree. It breaks up the season just when we get going, and bloody meaningless friendlies atre a total waste of time. International football is for the summer.
I don’t care about England or Wilshere right now, and even less about the fatboy.
