Is this £20M target good enough to replace Alexis Sanchez?

Arsenal are tipped to sign Hirving Lozano to replace Alexis Sanchez this January.

The Mexican winger has been impressing since his move to Europe with PSV Eindhoven, scoring six in six appearances for his new club, as well as setting the club record having scored in each of his first three outings.

The 22 year-old has supposedly been recommended to Arsenal by chief scout Steve Rowley who has been to Holland to watch him in action, and the club are believed to be eyeing an offer for him come the new year.

PSV are said to be likely to agree to a sale in the region of £20 Million, and his arrival would likely open the door to Alexis Sanchez to leave the club this winter.

The Chilean appears set on leaving the club before next season, with his current contract set to end this summer. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain seem to be the most likely to sign him, although Real Madrid are the latest name to be touted with a strong interest in his signature.

A possible January move would allow the Gunners to receive some sort of financial compensation for their loss, but they refused to allow him to leave for £60 Million on Deadline Day, and seems they would be unwilling to allow him to leave until a replacement is found.

Thomas Lemar was lined up to come in to replace the 29 year-old, but he changed his mind and ended up staying with Monaco, and now we are supposedly eyeing the Mexican international instead.

We will look to keep tabs on Lozano until the new year, when he could well become our latest signing, but we may have competition should he continue to flourish in Holland.

Does Lozano look like he could cover for the loss of Alexis? Could he set the Premier League alight?

  1. would lorenzo start… 20m isnt too big for wenger to drop the lad on the bench and start his stagnant walcot..i also doubt the scouting ability of this arsenal guys.. Sanchez not appearing in the balon d or list goes to show how much we’ve been overlooked by world football…they dont consider our players good enough..kings of the fa cup… Concerning the lemar guy,i dnt fancy him..hes more of an ozil than sanchez…if we are serious about replacing alexis we need lucas moura..powerful piece of threat he is…thats if any reasonable players who wants trophies would join us..even atletico are gunning for the lad also…

    1. Lucas Moura said he wants to stay in PSG and fight for his place. In fact, he is so serious about it he has quit pizza and barbeque. You can’t make this stuff up.

    2. Sorry everyone this is outside the topic. I just want us to visit the Puskas website to vote for Olivier Giroud’ s goal to win the FIFA best goal!

      1. Yeah.
        Good observation.
I have exercised my franchise on that.

I voted Giroud sentimentally otherwise, the lady’s goal tick a better box for me: The distance, technical accuracy, the inner picture and physical momentum to drive the ball. Awe and bravery.

However, there is ONLY one authentic OG. Another OG is an unwanted Own Goal.
        Lol !!!!

    3. The reason he was overlooked hinged on the fact that he wasn’t in the team of the season rather than what you pointed out. He was way better than most of the players representing England he deserves to be there. You and some fans are not doing the image of the club any good with the statement like any reasonable player who want trophy won’t join us. Saying that about a club with 3 fa cups in last 4 year is plain stupid. when did fa cup stop being a cup?. No player will come to us because all we win is fa cup but they can go to Manchester city who had won only league cup in those period or go to Liverpool and spur because they play attractive football and no cup to show for it. I believe if any player refuses to come to us is purely because of our shit fans and stupid ex players who won’t leave the our players alone to do their job and the negativity around the club.

      1. I think the problem with Arsenal fans is that they are always ungrateful .. because of the hatred they have for Wenger. If our rivals like Man u, Manchester City , Chelsea, Liverpool even Spurs had won 3 FA cups in 4 year’s . Then u ll hear them calling FA CUP MAJOR TROPHY but if Arsenal won FA CUP .U ll hear it from our own fans that FA CUP is micky mouse trophy not Major trophy
Pls if winning the 3 FA CUP in 4 year’s is not an achievement . Then I don’t how u people rate achievement

Pls dear fans when are you people going to stop all this bad comments on our beloved team
It’s not by force to support ARSENAL. If ure happy with our team pls try to go and support another team
        THANKS

  2. No thanks, better for unproven younster to get a chance (Nelson) than spend £20 million on unproven player.
Isn’t he shorter than Santi Carzola? I think he maybe weighs 140 pounds.

Can’t replace Sanchez baby, not happening. However a Draxler or similar type player with CL experience would suggest an effort to stay ambitious.

Horror show contracts allowed to run down, and questionable decision gambling Sanchez leaving on a free.

Selling him for £60 would have helped with cost of new world class new player. Now, that chance is gone, and more likely bargin hunting for player than bidding for top talent.

Arsenal RARELY spend big on 1 player with £100 million war chest; our best player leaves on free £60 million walking out the door forget about top replacement. Cue bargin bin shopping, yard sales, swap meets, and stalking hospital wards for next Titi.

  3. Honestly, I’ve never heard of him. But that doesn’t mean anything as I hadn’t heard of Koscielny before he came or Giroud.

Then again I had not heard of Xhaka who we paid £35 million for. So far I think we overpaid.

Need to be careful about getting players from Dutch league. They may look better because of the quality of the league. Like Janssen didn’t work out here after coming from the Dutch league.
I wish Wenger could have got known proven players for the positions we need to fill ie. Draxler, Lemar, Reus, Seri, Goretzka,Carvalho, etc. We could have got Seri at a good price before his contract buyout clause expired. I think Draxler would be a perfect replacement for Alexis.

    1. Well,PSV was the stepping stone for 2 of the greatest footballers in the history of game-Romario and Ronaldo ( the Brazilian)-both unknown at that time, fresh imports from Brazil-what followed after…we all know…so,never say never,PSV is expert in buying south american gems …

  4. I don’t think Lozano could replace Sanchez’s role in Arsenal. Sanchez has learned directly from Messi and there are only few players that studied Messi’s movements by playing alongside him.

Look at Neymar’s skills and movements after he played with Messi for several years. Sanchez is similar, they both like to imitate Messi’s movements, like:

    – Cutting inside.

    – Lobbing through balls.

    – Trying to possess the ball for more than three touches.

    – Delaying the pass and slow the tempo down to wait for better chances.

    – Like to pressurize the opponent and dribble past the defenders.

    – Drop deep to get the ball, etc.

The other players that play like them are Thiago and Rafinha Alcantara. If Arsenal can get Thiago, it would be fantastic, but Rafinha could be the second option.

  5. Last time mustafi got injured, we lost 2 consecutive away games to Everton & Man C… Our next 2 away games are against Watford & Everton.. Hope this is not an omen for bad things to come!

  6. No I don’t think so, he nowhere near who we should get, draxler or lemar maybe or mahrez, why get a untried winger

  7. I’ll keep an open mind on Lozano. He may be worth a punt as at £20 mil he would be comparably cheap although I would prefer us to get proven quality.
