Is Wenger really saying fans are wrong about Arsenal failing?

So Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and have not come any closer to doing so after the club’s period of financial tightness due to the new stadium came to an end. This season looks like seeing the Gunners finish further off the top than ever in fact, but if you Arsenal fans out there think that is a problem then perhaps you need to think again.

Take a step back and look at the facts again, because Arsene Wenger seems to be suggesting that we only see this, and the seven years of crashing out of the Champions League before the quarter-final stage, as failure because we are told as much by the football pundits on TV and the journalists in the press.

Metro have reported the Frenchman’s comments in which he was talking about the incredible match last week between Barcelona and PSG but was almost certainly also thinking about the way that Arsenal and his own role as our manager have been reported.

Wenger said, ‘When you’re a footballer, even if you don’t read it you’re told what people think. You can’t live in a world where you can’t be influenced by anything.

‘For example, I watched the last 20 minutes of PSG v Barca again. It’s interesting when you see all the conclusions that come out of the game.

‘And the same people who spoke after the game said with 10 minutes to go that PSG was absolutely outstanding. Ten minutes later, they’re absolutely rubbish.

‘People brainwash you with what they think is right.

‘Get out of that heated atmosphere and look at things in an objective way. Sometimes it confirms what people say. Sometimes it doesn’t.

‘I managed about 2,000 games – I might know a little something about the game as well.’

So Gooners, those of you who thought that two 5-1 hammerings by Bayern Munich this season to add to the one last season were signs that we have got big problems need to think again. And the recurring failure of Arsenal to perform in key games and at crucial periods in season after season should not see this as a sign that Wenger is not getting the best from the players.

Just ask the boss what it all means because he seems to know better than everyone else.

  1. I’m wondering what AW thinks he can do more for Arsenal to be great again if he stays, or dose he think this is IT and its good enough taking in to consideration the the owners we have and that we the supporters should think the fourth spot is a huge achievement for our club and shut up and celebrate it

    1. its a shame but not any more, i still have respect to him as a nice guy but not in his football management skills, he needs a mid table team that is where he can do wonders

I think Wenger would be even worse at a mid table club. We can all see how tactically inept he is, and at the smaller teams you really need excellent motivational skills (because the lesser teams will be losing most weeks), and you need to be spot on with tactics, because you won’t have the WC players to bail you out when all goes wrong.

This is evident at Arsenal. We’re doing terribly even with Sanchez scoring, and assisting loads. He has bailed Wenger out on numerous occasions over the last three years. Take him out the team, and where would we be left with Wengers motivational, and tactical skills? I would say 7th.

I stand corrected your probebly right but can we agree AW will make a good highs tree bank manager? ?

  2. He’s basically saying we cannot think for ourselves and get told what to think by ex footballers who are all thick, unlike him who is highly intelligent and unappreciated by the great unwashed (us).

What an arrogant and pompous man he is showing himself to be.

    Clinging on to power.

    Pathetic.

  3. After reading these comments I went back a watched the two Bayern games. We were great, in fact, it was the best football I have seen us play all season. Let’s do it again next year.

  4. This man completely lost it, winning to Lincoln and he calls it road to recovery selling the story that he is now focused on regaining the winning habit in the PL, this old fool is completely delusional, here are some facts:
    1 He lost it
2 The old fool will be the Manager next year
    3 Sanchez is leaving
4 What makes it different from other seasons he lost the dressing room
5 We wont win the FA Cup, its crunch time playing against the big boys
But what bugs me the most is that he still has support from Fans who are the ones actually brainwashed by him and the board making them believe that bthis is the normal, fight for 4th and exit on the round of 16th……….PATHETIC that is why no one respect us we deserve what we got
