Is whole Arsenal squad REALLY happy about Wenger contract?

With Arsenal having handed our long serving manager another two year contract extension despite seemingly ever growing unrest among some of the club’s fans, you are not going to hear any of the current playing staff saying anything negative or critical about Arsene Wenger.

Does that mean that the whole Arsenal squad are happy about the Frenchman staying in charge though? Not necessarily, but that is what the Wales international midfield star Aaron Ramsey has claimed, according to an Evening Standard report.

Ramsey has more reason than most to be happy about Wenger’s new deal, I suppose, as the Frenchman has shown great loyalty to the player and was almost a lone voice when Rambo was struggling to come back and find any sort of form after his long injury lay-off.

The Welshman said, “It is hard when all that speculation is going on.

“As a player, you try to put it to the back of your mind but obviously you are not sure what is happening.

“We’re glad now that it has finally been announced he’s staying. We’re all happy.

“Hopefully now we can start the season strongly and have a real good go, not just for ourselves but for him as well.”

We all hope so too mate, but a lot of us fear that next season will be the same old story – and that is why some ambitious players hungry for trophy success like Alexis Sanchez may not be quite as happy as Rambo. There may also be some Gunners like Giroud, Walcott and the Ox who feel that the boss does not give them enough playing time.

Don’t you think it would be better for the Arsenal squad to know they have a chance of winning the title than to be happy that Wenger has kept his job?

  1. Alexis will have to sign a contract one way or another. I am decided to keep Alexis here for at least one year or sell for a proper price. If Lukaku is valued at 100 million, may I ask why isn’t Alexis worth that much? Trust me, any agent hates their player to go on a free. Care to guess why? Yes, mes dames, no commission. I will not sell to EPL rivals unless they pay something north of 70 million for Alexis. That is proper money. On the continent, 60 million is a fair price. Knowing Alexis he will not have signed anything until January and the more he waits, the more pressure on him to sign a contract, any contract. Sure, there will be suitors, no doubt about. Is just that the interests of the club have to prevail here. Same goes for Ozil although he’s signed already. You haven’t heard it from me.

    1. mate do you think that guy will leave champions league football that he is already used to and join a side that still haven’t made up their mind on what they want….lacazette is the best option (for now)…he won’t nag about missing tuesday/wednesday night football plus he is already used to thursday night games….the truth is…the likes of Sanchez and Ozil just need to see top players around them so that they can be assured that the club will also compete not just in england but in europe..look at what mourinho was able to do even with the state of united during “rehab” period

  2. Players saying how they are gonna give it a real good go for the manager. Talking the talk, until they try to walk the walk.

    We have been here before.

AFC have a psychological issue that comes from the owners lack of ambition, the manager and his and his teams inability to win a PL or UCL over many years. It has brought about an environment and acceptance that second best is good enough. This cannot and will not be easily removed.

The board had the chance but decided to go with the safe option so over the next two years we will all have to watch helplessly as the slide continues because of this underlying phenomenon.

  3. So Lacazette an unused sub for France vs England and most people on here wish him to be signed, smh

  4. If Arsene thinks he’s going to get away this then he is dreaming. The discontent is only going to get worse and he isn’t going to get away with this nonsense again.

  5. All the players that are happy to be on an over 50k a week wage, even though they deserve around 25 k a week are happy that Arsene stays.
Truly ambitious players will leave either this summer, or the next. Ox and Bellerin too.
    I don’t think we’ll have a single top/improving/ player from season 2018/19 onward.
Arsenal is dying slowly but steadily.
