It feels WRONG but Arsenal should hope for Spurs win

While things are looking pretty flippin’ good from an Arsenal point of view right now, with a decent draw against Reading at home for the next round of the EFL cup as well as a good chance of topping our Champions League group and winning the last four Premier League games in a row, the Gunners are still faced with the worrying fact that we are still five points behind the current league leaders.

As well as Arsenal are playing at the moment, we did have a slow start whereas Pep Guardiola and Man City were at it from day one and unless something happens to disrupt their momentum I am worried that they will be too strong to catch even if Wenger and the players keep going along well.

There is also that niggling concern that a club could take the gloss off Wenger and Arsenal’s unique invincibles season by matching the feat of going a season unbeaten, so the sooner someone inflicts a defeat on Man City the better.

The next team to give it a try this weekend will be our north London rivals and as wrong as it feels for an Arsenal fan, I am hoping that the spuds win. They would also remain unbeaten and would stay above us in the table but I am not as worried about them as I am about City. A draw would also be good but if either side is to win it would be better for us if it was Tottenham.

Spurs will have had an extra day to prepare and City are coming off the back of a tough game and a slightly disappointing result away to Celtic, so there is a chance that our hated rivals could do it. Whisper it if you like Arsenal fans, but we should be backing the spuds this weekend.

  1. We don’t need any favors from the Spuds. We’ll beat City ourselves and protect our “Invincible” record…

    1. I would rather Spurs have a draw against City. Best result for us as neither will win and City will drop poitns as well. But for that we need to win against Burnley which could be our toughest game so far.

      1. Actually, Sp*rs winning is the better result. It will not ONLY cut their leadership threshold to just 2 points if we win, it will also destroy their unbeaten momentum / confidence. It will also give subsequent teams the required belief that they are beatable afterall.

      2. Plus one more reason to want them to win the fact that they will remain 2nd, and you know where arsenal will finish and that’s in anyone’s guess.

  2. Spurs winning or drawing against City could elevate their confidence and that is a bad Thing for Arsenal. Each game in EPL is a banana Skin so I could like City to beat Spurs and then lose Points against some Relegation fighters and against us.

  3. Sp*d to win? I totally disagree.
City should win so that we would only have one team above us and that will boost the morale of our boys to push harder.
We have their formula of City now and we would beat them and they are going to lose some points.
Let’s not think of favour from anytime but thinks of favour from ourselves.

  4. I think a draw would be best, we go past spu and catch up a little to city. Next would be a city loss. I don’t get why people say we don’t need to rely on any other teams, that is not what it’s about. There are two ways of looking at every winning team. The first way is that they’ve been better than everyone else. The second is that the other teams were just poor compared to them. So the other results always matter.

  5. OT:I love Arsenal and all its players as well as its ‘trendind bandwagons’,which at this moment is clearly Theo Walcott.Love the new found enthusiasm,Confidence, willingness, eagerness, form etc associated with the ‘New Theo’,but,…yes…’But’ the boy HAS GOT TO calm down ie he talks too much. You don’t see players like Messi,Iniesta even Sanchez saying stuff after games like this…theo has to keep his head down and carryon with his Perfomances. And even if he must talk, let it be after he has established these sort of performances as a norm for like 2 to 3 seasons not just after 6 games.#FireOnTheo. Now bash me

  6. Yes, we just have to concentrate on our game and forget what happens in other teams game echo some fans but the truth is I want Arsenal to win and other teams to drop points for us. It’s the benefit I want and remember it’s a marathon. I think a draw is just fine between manc and spurs. Both teams are unbeaten. But if there should be a winner then Man city should win it. Oh, how I hate the spurs. Wait a min, spurs can win it for us. Arghhhhh, a draw is ideal.

  7. Regarding Invincibles record, we haven’t finished 10 games so far. Invincibles is still 30 games to go. 30 GAMES

    1. Invincibles actually managed 49 consecutive. But the word “Invincibles” came from being unbeaten the whole season. I don’t think we can manage that after losing to the Pool in our first game….

  8. I hate to say this but Spuds are a good side like they were last season
They really should have beaten us to 2nd place really.

Before the season started I thought that Spuds had an advantage over us by having a 20+ goal scorer (like United-Ibrahimovic and City Aguero) BUT now I believe ALEXIS is our main guy who can do it. Also with the help of Theo, Giroud, Perez and Ozil (as well as contributions from other players) we should have plenty of goals in us

We don’t need to ask or hope other teams help us.
We need to focus on ARSENAL
Other teams will lose and draw matches. Its inevitable
United, City, Chelsea, Spuds are all very good but beatable
We need to focus on trying to win every match we play

    1. Come on Arsenal Girl give this “Spurs are gonna overtake us soon” argument a rest. For at least the last 5 years people have been sweating over Tottenham but come the end of the season where do they ALWAYS finish? That’s right, below us. They finished below us last season and have been doing so for the past 10 years. At this point am beginning to think its our divine right to beat spurs because they have finished above everyone in this league except us. At least as far back as i can remember.

      1. That’s undeniable facts dude! Imagine when they have Modric, Van der Vaart and Bale. That was the strongest Spuds I can remember. At the end? We always ahead, even with Chamakh and lord Bendy ran the rule, hahaha…

  9. Hence the rivalry, I favor Spuds to win. Whatever means to take City’s gap closer to us. Spuds also still in reach. City momentum is need to stop before it’s going to strong. There’s possibility when Celtic tied them up at CL. So, lets cheers the poor white lily tonight, hahaha… Come On You Spuds sucker !!!!!
