It May happen so would Arsenal be better out of Europe?

Okay so Arsenal have three games in hand on Everton, who currently sit in fifth place with three more points than Arsenal. After today’s Premier League games we will also have three games more to play than Liverpool and with Jurgen Klopp’s team already six points better off in fourth we could really do with a favour from their opponents today West Brom.

Even without any help, though, the Gunners still just about have a top four finish in their own hands, as we still have to play Manchester United at home. I think that a more realistic prospect, however, is for Arsenal to drop out of Europe altogether, which will happen if we fail to improve on our current position and do not lift the FA cup trophy next month.

Those games in hand are only useful if we win them and in our current form and looking at the fixture list it does not look good, so my question is whether this might actually be better for Arsenal in the long run. We have seen clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea thrive without all the extra midweek games and the toll they take on a squad and we know that Arsenal are beset annually with more injury problems than most.

Do you think we could miss out on both the Champions League and Europa League? And would it actually do us good to do so?

  1. I’d say it’s likely we won’t make UCL..Europa is more of a complication than an achievement. Assuming we miss out on both , and fan power ensures we get Wenger out, a new manager will come in with fresh ideas and energy. We may then have a fantastic season….and guess who will claim it was all down to the squad he built?

  2. Lol Bob, we will miss out on Europe then miraculously win PL and you will claim this was all Wengera master plan.

My question is why cant we win PL and be in Europe, I mean that is what big club would do right?????

    1. Lets be honest did being in Europe cost us 15 points or would we most likely still be here. Lets not forget we were playing rubbish before our first round of 16 in CL.

so dont seehow this is relevant, people just looking for an excuse to keep rhis idiot wenger.

  3. So what if Arsenal misses out. We haven’t been competitive in champions league since the invincibles really. It’s just a distraction and only makes money for the board which doesn’t go back into club for buying players.

Imagine if they brought in top player every year and used the champions league money to offset the high cost.

We might actually win it one year. I say who cares, and I really don’t see Wenger making top four with Jose, Conte, Pep, Klopp, and even Koeman and their clubs willing to spend money.

    1. Juventus have five first team players that the bigger clubs deemed not good enough or past it. Higuain Alves Cuadrado Khedira Mandzukic.

  4. Seriously , who cares about the milk cup ?

People will be paying a fortune to watch the likes of carrier’bag and midget’land next year … and people think this could possibly be a good thing ?!

We are a shambles from top to bottom.

Just wake me up , when wengers gone !!!

    1. MC Porky, let it Rip ?? ? BD BD listen up folks!

      ? don’t wake him up, it’s a no no ?
      ? Wenger’s got-us-hanging-on-a Groundhog Yo-yo ?
? don’t wake him up and spoil the show show?
?Cos Wenger’s staying to fight, ??now did I hear that righttttt?

Yup, it’s that medication time of the day.. Again ?

    1. If he is leaving, why would he not let the fans celebrate/thank him over final months, that’s what would have happened. I think he’s staying, but if he is going well then I think he’d do that as a way of saying, no thanks, I wont allow you’s to give me an insincere send off.

  5. Arsene Wenger arrived on the Premiership campaign with a new code of practise for the team and a chef to maintain a healthy diet and no smoking campaign. While all the other teams were eating fish suppers and drinking beers he has taken new steps to keep the players fit and able to cope at the top in Europe. But now all premiership teams are in the same exercise and healthy foods to stay at the top of their game?. So has his early years now come to face his ability to cling on to his past, and for him to leave the game to another manager with the urge to move Arsenal to another direction and winning ways again.

  6. If we beat city next weekend we are guaranteed at least Europa league. As we will face one of two teams in the final that are guaranteed champions league football. It would be highly embarrassing for us to only be in the Europa league because Chelsea and spurs are already in the champions league. In a way I would rather lose to city than either of those two then we have to go all out to win every league game

  7. If we lose in the Final of the FA cup, we would still end up qualifying for the Europa league qualifying round ? since the other finalists will be either Chelsea or the Spuds and they both look certain to qualify for the UCL and I can’t see how playing less games will enhance our chances of winning the league, when Wenger has already used the lack of games excuse for losing against a ?? team this season.

  8. Getting a new manager is the only thing, that can make us competitive again.
With a new manager, I think European football will be an advantage, as it will give him more matches to shape the team.
But is Wenger stays, I don’t care. It will be more misery in or out of Europe.

  9. The most astonishing thing is fans feared change and said wenger is the best because we always made top four. Now we finally are not making top four which was a long time coming: how many seasons hve we barely scrapped through?
Now this same fans say only wenger can fix the problem. Something is seriously wrong with some fans its either brainwashing or something

    1. It’s sounds like a severe case of battered wife syndrome ?????????? no matter how abusive things get, they’re more scared of change.

  10. Liverpool just won again, which all but ends our top four hopes. We’re 10 points adrift of fourth, and although we have games in hand, can anyone see us winning those games? I hope we finish below Everton if I’m honest, anything to force change.

    1. Deep in your heart, you know full well that it will hurt (not qualifying for the UCL) but understandably that pain will be worth it if the change that we need comes fourth… Oops ?? Swearword alert ? for fourth sakes!
What the fourth ? fourthing hell mate. I better get the fourth out of here, before someone fourths me over ?

      1. Haha. My fourth be with us in the battle for fourth! I honestly couldn’t care less about the Champions League, because it’s embarrassing seeing us beaten so easily every season, and even worse seeing Leicester go further in their first, and probably last ever appearance in the competition.

        1. True, but we could also say the same thing about our premier league performances over the last decade or so, yet no one is saying what’s the point in playing in this league since we keep on bottling it every time we are in with a shout. ?

  11. If we are really gonna recruit allot of new faces like reported then it could help tremendously if we have that extra time on the training pitch. It is an advantage to have, I don’t see how it wouldn’t be. Although I liked Conte’s little mind game recently when he claimed it was the other way around. He said because you face sterner tests in Europe mixing it with the best of every league, that that prepares players better than any extra training would. Not in so many words but that was the gist of it. It’s a good argument but the extra miles you have in the tank comes into play if you ask me. I’m just not sure Arsene would be able to grab the advantage, when players need stoking up he’ll tell them to play patiently.

  12. I think it would be better to have no European football no matter who is the manager. Better for the schedule, fewer injury opportunities and more time to focus on the PL.

Does anybody even watch the Europa league?

TBH I even think the CL is boring until the knockout stage.
