Darius Vassell has claimed that Jack Wilshere should concentrate on plying his trade with Arsenal, and not be considering the exit door.
The England international has had a torrid time in recent years with injury after injury, and just as he looked like he was building his strength up on loan with Bournemouth last term, the inevitable happened.
Wilshere has since returned to fitness and featured for our senior side, and must now concentrate on trying to get back to his best, in strength and ability.
The 25 year-old has been strongly linked with the exit door over the last two summers, with clubs in Italy and England believed to be keen to sign him, but Darius Vassell believes he should stay put.
“Wilshere when he burst onto the scene, I thought ‘wow what a player he’s gonna be for England perhaps captain England’,” Vassell told Express Sport.
“The fact he’s seen that other players have surpassed him and he has been involved in England set-up, it has been a shame.
“Should he move on and do other bits and pieces? As a fan, no I want to see him do his bits and pieces at the club he belongs.
“There shouldn’t be any rush to move him on because another injury at a new club and then we’re back at square one again.”
Wilshere is currently into the final 12 months of his contract, along with a number of other players, and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered another deal, but should he prove his fitness and intentions to play for us, I’m sure he would be offered an extension.
Should Jack had managed to finish last season with Bournemouth injury-free, he may well have had ideas that our style of play or training had been interfering with his body, but that wasn’t the case, and he may well be open to staying on.
Arsene Wenger has shown the midfielder favouritism in previous years, and should he prove fit I’m sure he will be given opportunities to feature in our side, and he should take them with both hands.
Does Wilshere still want to play for Arsenal? Has our system played havoc on his body? Can he still be a top player?

Now if we are still going to be a babysitter club accommodating fringe players there will come a time when crystal palace will surpass us sooner than you think.
Our squad is so horrible that I can only think of a handful who are above average.
Players like wilshere need to prove their worth elsewhere the best we should do for them is an assessment loan
No move him on to much of a risk to keep him he has had plenty of chances to prove himself simply not good enough for Arsenal he not a Arsenal man but a lifelong West Ham supporter I think he play better for a team of less importance having said that Arsenal are not the side they used to be 20 odd years ago !!
It is a pity but Wilshere has had chances after chances that no other club will tolerate, he is part of why we are where we are today, I wish him luck but I don’t see his long term future at Arsenal….

Sending young playes to early in the deep waters can destroy them beyond repair. Wilshere is very talented, but his ankles are just dust
A fit jack is quality, the issue is he hasn’t managed to stay fit long enough for so long now it’s hard to recal.
It would be interesting to see if jack can stay fit and play some games to see if he still has something to offer.
If he pulls up injured again we need to move him on.

Wish you well and a great shame you could never stay fit. But unreliable players are no good and, finally, in your case, Wenger has realied that. Now , If only he would also realise with Walcott too, but after 11 and a half wasted years with that weed it is clear he never will realise what a waste of a shirt and a huge wage Weed WaLCOTT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.

Well it’s looking like we might well need someone by Aug or maybe even Jan to take Ozil’s role. I have mixed feelings about this. Either we go big in the market or we start identifying candidates and giving them some minutes, such as against weaker Europe league group stage teams or EFL cup. A pacey, hard-working, skillful replacement from elsewhere would be my preference. If not, who do we have? A fit Santi playing a bit more forward? That would be a great option if he returns in form. Ramsey? Seems to play well for Wales, and on occasion for us in that role. It would at least take away the danger and consequences of him bombing forward from what is supposed to be a holding midfield spot (regular Xhaka/Ramsey pairing always makes me uneasy about counterattacks). Nelson? Iwobi? So in reference to the article, maybe if Jack gets some minutes and is impressively shocking that gives an option also (I’m skeptical, but it doesn’t seem much more of a reach than the others)? Anyhow, if we’re going to experiment, much better in a group stage against Bate Borisov or an EFL cup than against say Everton-level or better Premier League squads.
