Jack Wilshere doesn’t think Arsenal will win the league

Jack Wilshere has named Chelsea and not Arsenal as the best team in the Premier League. The midfielder is currently enjoying a spell on loan with Bournemouth, and had to endure a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Blues on Boxing Day.

Chelsea were forced to make changes to the team which had won the previous 11 consecutive league matches, with key players Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante both missing out, but this failed to stop them from steamrolling Jack’s temporary side.

Wilshere has now moved to praise the Premier League leaders, which may not be taken well by his employers, naming them as the best at present.

He said: “They look like champions at the minute, for me at the moment they’re the best team in the league.

“There’s still a long way to go of course, you can’t say they’re definitely going to win the league but at the minute they look like the strongest.

“They’ve found this new formation that works for them. I’ve always thought it’s a tough place to come anyway.

“I’ve been [to Stamford Bridge] a few times with Arsenal and we’ve only won once, but they’re more ruthless, they know what the job in hand is, they go out there and week in week out they change their game planning depending on who they are playing.

“I think that’s the sign of a top team.”

I hope he is not saying that Arsenal dont do that planning stuff lol

The Blues will have a chance of equalling Arsenal’s record of most consecutive wins (14) should they beat Stoke City on New Years Eve as well as beating Tottenham Hotspur in North London a few days later.

It is hard to argue that they are currently the best, having beaten all rivals in their last 12 matches, but it is way too early to name them champions, and our squad is more than capable of challenging them, as long as their winning streak doesn’t continue for too much longer!

When will the streak end? Will we actually want Spurs to win to help us tied for the record and stop their charge for the title?

  1. I want Wilshere out of the club, that’s what. And I sure as hell hope we aren’t footing his 90-a-week to have fun at Bournmouth and talk up our competitors. The main argument his fans usually have for keeping him around is that the lad bleeds red through and through… Well looks like the lad bleeds blue too!

    1. He is only saying the truth. Chelsea IS the best team at the moment. Being an Arsenal fan doesn’t mean you have to be blind for the truth…

    2. Why does he have to lie? Should Pulis get fired for saying he thinks Arsenal have the best chance of challenging Chelsea. Should he say West Brom are the best? Jack even says “at the moment”. It would be silly for him to say Arsenal are the best team at the moment. We just have 3 points from a possible 9. Is that what makes us the best team at the moment? Did we look like we knew what we were doing against Everton and City?

I think you should cut Jack some slack for having an opinion. Keown comes out and says he thinks Klopp is the best manager of the top 6 and not Wenger, do you doubt his loyalty as well? Schools blasted Van Gaal from the day he started, do you doubt his loyalty to Man U?

  2. Many ex-players have commented on the fact that Wenger is not the game planner. I don’t think Jack is wrong, Chelsea look the part ATM. Liverpool are not far behind after comming to terms with Klopp’s way of playing but they don’t have the personnel. Pep needs time and has to rejuvenate his squad and Man U seem to be where Chelsea was a few months ago when they were beginning to gel.

For me, the most likely top 4 will be Chelsea, Liverpool, Man u, City.

  3. Wenger is the longest standing manager in the premier league. He has had ample time to build a winning squad. I understand there were years when we couldn’t afford top players let alone keep them, but those days are long gone. Yet why is it that a new manager will take over a club and win the league with hardly no time to adjust? Even with money, time and experience of Wenger’s side he still cannot mount a decent challenge for the title and most frustratingly still cannot beat the big teams. This is what Jack is saying, I mean the writing has been on the wall for years – we will never win another decent trophy as long as Wenger is manager.

On the flipside, cutting top four until he retires is not such a bad future and would actually put our new manager in a very healthy position to keep our best players and change what is necessary. So unless we are very lucky, be content with top four and perhaps another F.A cup. Expecting Wenger to change is futile and a complete waste of time so might as well just support the team, enjoy the rest of the season and bide our time until he retires.

  4. I aint scared of any of ya!
i’l do the lot of ya!
No I aint a Spud before someone insults me by saying this!

The reason for my rant is… Willy has said nothing wrong.. Willy is a great player and I hope he comes back and fulfils his potential at Arsenal. The lad is Arsenal thru and thru and articles like this is what turns fans on their own players!

  5. Any team in the EPL can win the title. You just need the belief, a plan and a bit of luck in terms of injuries and referee decisions. Leicester did it. Arsenal’s squad is more than capable of winning the league. The very same Chelsea’s squad that’s doing well all of a sudden, was going through bad form.

    1. You also need an adept manager who can motivate the players, a manager who can rally them after a dreadful first half.

There’s a reason why Klopp got Brendan Bodgers’ team to the Europa League final after 6 months in charge. Conte is the reason why same Chelsea team who finished 10th is now going to be champions.

Our manager is the reason why we aren’t progressing nor are we going backwards.

      1. Correct, that’s where ‘Belief’ comes in. The manager must instill a sense of belief in the players. I think that’s what Ranieri did with Leicester and what Conte and Klopp are doing currently.

  6. he never said he doesn’t want arsenal to win the title, arsenal cnt or won’t.. what he simply said is Chelsea are playing like champions,N that’s pretty obvious going on a 12-game winning streak.

still doesn’t mean they ll win the title
