Klopp adds fuel to the fire as he refuses to deny new Arsenal manager rumours…

The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was well aware of the breaking rumours from Bosnia that his long-time assistant Zeljko Buvac has accepted the challenge of replacing Arsene Wenger as the manager of Arsenal, and in tonight’s pre-match conference ahead of Liverpool’s second leg semi final against Roma he was given a very quick and easy chance to deny that Buvac was or wasn’t in talks with the Gunners.

But when challenged by reporters, all Klopp responded with was: “We gave a club statement on that and that’s all we’re saying at the moment,” which was a simple dodge of the question.

Buvac is currently in Bosnia apparently having a little break from his job at Liverpool for “personal reasons” and they released a statement to that effect last month. Sky News reported the story like this: Reports emerged on Monday morning that Buvac, also nicknamed ‘the brain’ by supporters, had quit his role as Klopp’s assistant just two days before the Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma.

But Liverpool say that is not the case and Buvac is spending some time away from the first-team environment, between now and the end of the season, for personal reasons.

If that was the case Klopp could easily have scotched the rumours by simply stating that their was no truth in it, but the fact that he refused to deny it will only fuel the rumours even further.
Perhaps there is a lot of truth in this rumour after all?

  1. Another article on this

Firstly if it’s true penny pinching cheap skate wan*€*s
However, I don’t believe it why take on someone who has never managed anyone in there lives, I know wenger was unknown but he had managed this would stink of second best as we can’t get Klopp. Conversely, we’ve played second fiddle to Liverpool for a while so why not continue that with our choice of manager

    1. If this is true the board better start battening the hatches, Because this will go down with the fans like a lead balloon. Wenger will be laughing all the way to the bank.

    2. I myself am guilty of saying Buvac has never managed. He has – for 3 years – 17 – 20 years ago in Germany.

Though if it’s true he only speaks German, combined with this, I still don’t quite believe he’d be offered the Arsenal job.

I feel Buvac has gone to Bosnia for some reason like mother or father very sick or dying or sth like that.

The strange thing is that that newspaper doesn’t publish football rumors like the British press, so either they know it’s true or they’ve been duped into thinking it’s true.

  2. If , by any chance, this rumour – and a rumour is all that it is right now – is actually true, our fans will hit the roof. An unheard of 54 year old , playing second fiddle to the most charismatic manager(and by far) in football, at least in the PREM, with no big club experience as number one will enrage our fans. It must surely be an unlikely rumour, hopefully. But with our regime you never know and the bookies have him as short priced favourite , which is a worry.

    1. I read he’s 56. It has to be purely coincidental that he’s taken time off for personal reasons… otherwise all I can say is I did not see this one coming!!

  3. If Liverpool have a policy to not disclose why that guy is away from the club, then Klopp is not in a position to confirm or deny anything, so this sounds like a media wind-up. I certainly hope so anyway.

  4. Who is the man?
If true, this is RECENT ARSENAL at its best.
All the same, as a fan, I am wishing who ever comes in the best.
Me he or she do extremely well.

  5. surely this cant be happening….well like we all no with this penny pinching board its a distinct possability..if they do go ahead with this madness surely there must be protests.HOPEFULLY were panicing over nothing.

  6. Eventhough, i dont mind this guy, i feel his appointment will lead to another level of separation among the fans as majority do not approve him.

It must be said though, that no matter who we appoint, some will find negatives but i really fear “the brain” will badly split us and i therefore, want us to steer clear of this, i hope the Arsenal board are seeing fans reactions on social media

  7. Hopefully just media rumours that, when repeated enough times, start to take on a facade of truth.
We do, however, have to start making decisions in order to make full use of the transfer period.
Surely to goodness the owner and board discussed this before pushing Wenger out?
Or perhaps they have actually been caught cold by his decision and are having to start from scratch.

    1. Blame the previous shareholders for selling to Kroenke and forcing David Dein out.

  8. Zidane /Guadiola have had great
    success at stellar clubs having
    only manged the “B” side.
Seems like any one can win at a top club
like any one could win F1 driving for Mercedes.
The PL’s greatest manager Sir Alex managed in Scotland
then took 6 years to win a title at Man U.
Ranieri took 5001 outsiders to the title!!!
Brendon Rogers almost won at Liverpool
because he had 3 on form strikers then
went and managed in a weak one horse league.
So there seems to be no formula for managerial success
Mourinho having managed at Porto Chelsea Inter Real
Chelsea and Man U is probably the most successful of all.
but even his experience can’t get Man U over the line yet.
Wenger got Nancy relegated, one won title in 7 years at Monaco
and was washed up in Japan before getting the Arsenal job.
George Graham before him took Milwall from the 3rd to the 2nd tier
and that was enough to land the Arsenal job.
Buvac would be no surprise at all.

      1. Personally, if we took on an untested manager then I’d get behind them and as long as he shows promise and we finish in the top half of the table then I’d be happy.

    1. Well written Barry. But there are some managers out there that have “it” and we the fans can sense it. Simeone with his passion and defensive tactics, you know that Arsenal will be a team of steel with him in charge. Allegri with his tactical understanding of the game, you know that we will not be tactically out matched very often. Klopp with his Heavy Metal etc… There is quality out there some are more easier to spot then others.

  9. Well people, when you said I would take anyone over Wenger, you just might get tested on that.

    1. My thoughts exactly. Why complain now? You all said anyone but Wenger so enjoy the consequence.

  10. Calm down guys! Just a baseless rumour. The press doing their usual thing of putting 2 and 2 together, and coming up with 7. All those years we needed a top striker, and every transfer window it was Benzema coming to Arsenal, and now we need a manager, and EVERYONE will get linked!

We’ll know in less than a month, so relax, because we FINALLY got what we wanted.

  11. well no matter whos the manager is we will still finish top 6 or at least 6th place….with the international players we have….
the gap between the big 6 and the rest are still wide

  12. Must admit I couldnt believe it either when I first heard this rumour, but then a thought ocurred to me, when Wenger goes, some of his coaching staff are likely to leave as well, so if Arsenal are genuinely looking to appoint a younger manager, wouldnt it make sense to have an experienced assistant? There also rumours about Man Utd asistant coach too after all.

  13. Read Arsenal Arsenal aint willing to spend in the transfer market and top pound for the
next manager. In that case the Russian shd take over . He is willing to commit himself to Arsenal.
Don’t expect immediate returns on an unknown quantity. You reap what you sow.

  14. I always worry about the low odds with the bookies; but then plenty of odds on favourites run outside a place.

  15. I don’t want to believe this rumour but if it turns out to be true it will be in line with what many on this site wished! While some of us argued that Wenger’s departure should not be an end in itself but a means to a better manager many here turned it into an obsession. Some went even as far as suggesting that anything was better than Wenger. Now that the hour of reckoning has come let us see the wisdom of such reasoning. It is not in doubt that Wenger is leaving and there was never any doubt that one day he would leave. However the question of his replacement was the more crucial issue as can be seen now. I brought out this issue several times but all the time I earned scorn for it. Perhaps now some people can see that our concerns were not without basis. What needs to be done now is to put out banners on Wenger’s last home game demanding that Wenger must be replaced by a manager of repute and not an unknown entity. This should be alongside the Wenger farewell banners. Where is that small aircraft to convey placards of the same? We can’t wage a struggle to improve the situation and get a raw deal in return! It is simply not acceptable. That would be a lost cause. So the brigade should get in motion again.

    1. Thank you @ divid Rusa for thinking outside the box, we need banners with names of managers fans want considered for the job.Fans should should shortlist their candidates and forward it to the CEO for action

  16. We should make a move for Wagner at Huddersfield alongside him (both have worked together with klopp at Dortmund as well Milisant). Also bring in Bergkamp, Vieira/Arteta and keep bould, pires and lehmann.

Bottom line is I wanna see entertaining, attacking football that gets us challenging for the league. I don’t care who it is….. or if I have heard of them before.
