La Liga star striker’s transfer to Arsenal back on

Arsenal are one of a number of clubs that have been linked with this Spanish La Liga striker in this season’s transfer rumours. However it was looking as though we would be one of the clubs to miss out on the Celta Vigo and Spain international star Nolito.

The player himself has made no secret of the fact that he would prefer to move to the current Spanish champions and so once Barcelona entered the fray then it seemed to be just a matter of time before Nolito moved to the Nou Camp. For some reason, though, the transfer talks have collapsed and Metro is reporting that Arsenal are now ready to make our own move.

We do not know why the talks with Barca have broken down but with the 29- year old having a release clause in his current Celta Vigo contract of less than £13 million it cannot be the price. Perhaps it is the wages or perhaps he believes that he would struggle for game time against the formidable Barca front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

However, his regular starting position for his club is in the left forward role, where Alexis Sanchez usually operates for Arsenal, so would he feel that his chances of playing for us are similarly limited? We should know in the next few days.

  1. Oh please not this again. That sod turns 30 this year. We need class forwards who can improve to even better what they are now. Only thing Nolito is going to do is slowly deteriorate a la Arteta.

But then again it’s Metro so…

    1. I don’t want Benzema and I definitely don’t want Nolito, imo if we want a striker we should look to Germany, so many young players with potential there and many would be excited at playing alongside the 5 time winner of Germany player of the year.

    2. i’m so not buying any of this nolito to Arsenal crap

He’s fast becoming an oldie in the football world and is soon past it

pls link us with something real…..not some metropolitan boo-boo

  2. on another note it seems that the age old arsenal fans on untold arsenal have stopped being the ever deluded akbs.In their most recent post
They to totaly agree on the red card offence of mertz and also two more arsenal players should have been sent off and that chelsea could and should have been awarded a penalty.
Your fans are drifting away from you arsene.Lol

    1. @goonthinker
It’s more like they were simply calling it how they saw it. It’s called being”unbiased”
Try it sometime, instead being so damn petty…

    2. Fair point. Still personally think Costa dived (& I hate him for it ). John Obi Mikel was perhaps lucky to stay on the pitch, he certainly looked for Sánchez, tho I think kos was lucky not to give a pen away

    1. Metro has us signing
      5 strikers, 7 wingers
      4 DM’s and 3 CB’S.
      Also according to Metro Sanchez
and Ozil have signed for Bayen,
Ramsey for Barca , Walcott and Ox for Chelsea 🙂

      1. I agree, usual media made up story. They would print that messi, suarez, neymar and ronaldo were all coming to arsenal if they thought anyone would half believe it.

  3. no-lito no party.

  4. Cannot see anymore signings now. Just hope everyone comes back from injury soon.

Was praying that city would pick up an injury and I’m sorry to say I celebrated like Arsenal had scored when De bruyne was strechered off

  5. welbeck is back soon mate, u can quitely take back metro’s rumours regarding arsenal signing a new striker.

  6. Wenger is about to sign Kelechi Nwakali an under 17 from Nigeria for the future.
He is a kid, I have no problem with this but Arsenal need a MAN now a Top class striker.
