Lack of transfer bids to fire Mesut Ozil up for Arsenal?

We all know that the Arsenal and Germany midfield star has got some real talent. He can be a match winner for club and country and at times has transformed a good Arsenal team into an absolutely brilliant one with his technical ability and vision.

Frustratingly, from an Arsenal fan’s point of view, however, we do not always see the best of Mesut Ozil. I am still not sure that the accusations of him being lazy or going missing in big games are fair, but it is true to say that he does not always have the impact omn a game that his talent should produce.

It is not only the Arsenal fans who have noticed this either, apparently, because The Sun is reporting that although Ozil is going to be available on a free transfer at the end of this season and was hoping for a move to a big club somewhere, the offers have not exactly been rolling in.

The Arsenal transfer rumours had been telling us that the German playmaker had made up his mind to leave the club and that he had rejected the offer despite Arsenal being willing to raise his wages to around £250,000 a week. Now the report is claiming that Ozil is facing the prospect of taking the offer because no other club is willing to match or beat it.

If this is true then I can only hope that it sparks Ozil into life and spurs him on to greater efforts. If that means that he does get a better offer and we lose him at the end of the season then so be it, but for this season we really need the best out of him.

Do you think this lack of transfer interest might just bring the best from Ozil?

  1. Ozil is a world class player. It is paramount that we keep him beyond this season.

  2. I dnt think moirinho would ever go for him, i dnt see ozil ahead of pobga or mihki in the number 10 role at utd..the best coaches n teams like utd and city, psg and chelshit are chasing sanchez…besiktas are lukin at ozil just for their fan base and club status not for football reasons…the earlier we start creating space for iwobi or a better ten to come the better…as for ozil hes been good for us…we are not the best character team in the epl n the least we can do is get players…beast like players..not humble loving fearful easilly manipulated players that do their talking outside the pitch telling us how much workout theyve done in the week while smiling and playing ping pong in training…we ned to be ruthless..but when we are a club begging average skunks like chamberlain to stay then doubt our credentials ..

  3. A question to those of you who say that Ozil should be sold: Who will replace him? Ramsey? Iwobi? Wilshere? Please, don’t make me laugh. Ozil might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he is without a doubt a very influential player. I would even go as far as saying that he is probably our most creative player since the days of the great Dennis Bergkamp (my favorite Gunner of all time, by the way). You don’t get to be voted German player of the year 5 times in 6 years by being lazy. You don’t get to break assists records all over the world by being an average, or a “luxury” player as some like to say. Santi Cazorla and Ozil had an understanding. It’s no wonder that Ozil’s productivity has suffered since Santi went down. Give Ozil the weapons he needs, and he will shine. Surround him with Ronaldo’s and Benzema’s, not Ramsey’s and Walcott’s. It’s not his problem that he sees things other people don’t. He’s always a step ahead of everyone else. But what bugs me most of all is that he’s been made a scapegoat most of the time for our failures. When we win no one remembers his contributions; when we lose, people are quick to point out a misplaced pass or something else that he didn’t do right, whereas in reality it’s the whole team’s fault. Football is still a team sport if I remember, and Ozil is a big part of ours. Hopefully he’ll continue to be in the future.

    1. Had we signed that DM we’ve been craving for he would have more freedom and won’t get called out for not tracking back. Also ozil could be influential for us in signing draxler.

      1. Why doesn’t Wenger see this need, when everyone else does? After all Wenger and Dein signed Veira and Gilberto, yet these important cogs to Arsenal have never been adequately replaced!

  4. Just giving a player, any player, who lacks courage, fight and character, more money will not make him the player he could be if he possessed those qualities. So just wasting still more wages on the week Ozil, even though he has huge talent, which is largely wasted, is never the way to build a successful team. First you need players with character , fight and courage, allied to great skill. We have about four/ five players only with these qualities in spades and all the others, in varying degrees, lack bottle.
