Leicester set to discuss the sale of Mahrez? By AH
The latest rumours surrounding Riyad Mahrez may suggest that deal is underway with the Gunners, but in reality we all know to take this with a pinch of salt considering Arsenal’s track record when it comes to transfers. Arsenal may not be in full negotiations with Leicester, but are the Premier League champions set to discuss a potential sale?
The Metro are reporting this evening that Leicester City owners are meeting in Los Angeles to discuss the futures of Mahrez, Chilwell and Schlupp, who are all reportedly under the watchful eye of other Premier League clubs. Schmeichel and Drinkwater are also on the agenda, whilst Simpson, who is in his final contracted year, is set for talks about his future.
The Metro quote Sky Sports sources behind the reason to believe that those players mentioned are currently attracting interest from other parties outside Leicester and so it was deemed that an ’emergency meeting’ would be called between club officials.
The owners will of course be discussing Mahrez’s link to Arsenal and although there seems to be nothing concrete in the works yet, Arsenal’s interest is clear. Arsenal were actively in the market for a winger earlier in the summer in the shape of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whilst the Gunners have also been linked with the likes of Draxler and Turan. At a rumoured £41 million, Mahrez would be the most expensive option of the window but perhaps Wenger is willing to play such kind of money for the talent that Mahrez, the PFA Player of the Year, has to offer to the Premier League.
We can all hope that there are some more developments in Arsenal’s hunt for Mahrez, but given that Ranieri is under the impression that no more of his stars will leave after Kante, perhaps the Gunners will be set up for disappointment again.

  1. Ranieri’s comments suggest that there is truth in Mahrez joining Arsenal… just hope it’s not another dud like the rest of the players we’ve been linked with

  2. Arsenal set to confirm their fourth summer capture as he is set to jet in this weekend

    Welcome on board Kelechi Nwakali.
    You heard it here first.

  3. From the look of things Mahrez Coming to Arsenal is in arsenals hand. Meaning how much do they want him?

If they really want him then get him.. .. If arsenal are nonchalant with the fee then see Mahrez leave for Chelsea or remain at Leicester.

There’s something going on behind the scene that we don’t know.. . Wonder why Vardy haven’t said anything to Mahrez….Well, time will tell.. M

  4. If we go for Marhez and get him, the worry is that we’ll be one position short of sorting out. I would prefer we held off on the CB one and go get a striker, should manage, if not there is jan window. With Mert now injured it is very risky though, I would have preferred a striker with Marhez but am unsure now. Mert usually never gets injured, not for lengthy spells. This is a rotten timing thing to happen.

  5. OT: I am sorry all for diverting on all these rumors which 90% of them are fake and switch back a little on what we have.

I didn’t see a lot of articles or comments on the performance of our players in the last game (specifically Cambers, Theo, Jeff, Iwobi, Debuchy, and Campbell). I didn’t watch the match and I have not had time to watch the repeat. For those of us who watched the game please just give me insights on how the boys performed.

    1. @007

Well I only watched about 70% of the Lens game, but as a team, I didn’t think we looked that good. Better in the latter stages of the second half though. Debuchy impressed me, and looked very fit for once, Chambers looked okay, Theo was just the usual from him, Iwobi good at times, Jeff was okay, and Campbell was decent. I think on average, from what I saw, most players 6 out of 10 for me.

  6. @ Gooner Giroud…

    That’s my thought exactly!!!!
From Ranieri’s comments it seems they can’t stop Mahrez from leaving…
I want Mahrez for two reasons:
    1) He will certainly improve us
    2) To spike Vardy….

However, If Wenger tells me no more striker after signing Mahrez, then I don’t want Mahrez anymore….

My choices will now be; Mahrez and Laca, Mahrez and Bacca, Mahrez and Chicharito etc..
…..I just don’t want Mahrez only.

    1. @goonerboy

Twitter is going crazy over claims linking us to Mahrez plus some strikr from France.

I’ll take that any day of the week

      OT
Mustafi is available as Velencia are looking to sell due to financial struggles…what you think?

      1. @ Gooner_Giroud…

Yes, am aware of the Twitter excitements, and to me it is childish…
At the moment, what we have is rumours and nothing is certain even the Vardy deal that looked certain didn’t work out…

Some fans needs to calm down, and stop being stupid to avoid being humiliated again, if the deal doesn’t go through….

      2. no chance we sign another defender. Remember, Arsene started the season with just Mertesacker as our only fit defender once, and played Monreal as a CB. So no chance we’re getting another CB. At least this time we have Gabriel, Chambers, Holding. I’m hoping Gabriel actually steps up this time. This may keep Chambers from going out on loan too, giving him another chance as well. I’m still way more concerned about our pathetic striker selection than our CB’s. Get well Per!

  7. Arsenal does not buy stars
    we make them.
    Well that’s the story anyway.
Leicester paid half a mill for Mahrez.
Arsenal will pay 4500% more for the same
player a year later. Who are the fools?

    1. Arsenal also dont win premier league titles, or champions leagues. Should we keep that tradition going? Times change, Barca make talent as well but even they’re willing to splash the cash on a talented player. Arsenal’s job is the be competitive.

    2. Mahrez moved to leicester in jan 2014, so that is half a season to get used to the PL, then the next season it is a player of the year performance. Absolutely amazing. My only criticism is how come Wenger did not spot this gem in the french division 2.

  8. mahrez ozil and sanchez would be a fantasy.
They can form a formidable trio like the one barca and real madrid have.
Not on the same level but its good

  9. We’re being linked with Toulouse striker Ben Yedder for £8mil

Checked out his stats and all I can say is that he’d thrive with Ozil Sanchez and Mahrez behind him.

Seems like a typical Wenger signing

  10. Laca bid they say was done earlier in the summer, really, i thought the coach had said arsenal had not made any contact about Laca, well someone is fibbing, because suddenly now arsenal had a bid of about 30 milion earlier on in the summer (probably during the vardy crap). i think its obvious they want to sell there irreplaceable striker ahhahah, offer them 40M and no more

Now we are also interested in Wassim Ben Yedder, who is not a forward we have in mind of leading the arsenal attack, but actually is capable of doing so, reminds me of Eduardo , he is what i call a clever forward, not a replacement for Giroud but offers an alternative in style of play, with movement, skill with the ball, ability to use both feet and has pace, a steal at 8 – 10 million
