Listen to Wenger sayin Arsenal were suicidal!

Personally I was shocked to the core by Arsenal’s result against Monaco last night, but what did Wenger say?

Was he there on the touchline shouting at the players? Was he giving tactical instructions from the sidelines? Or was he trying hard to get his zip sorted and throwing bottles of water? What does Wenger have to say?

  1. Personally I believe there is something wrong with Arsenal at its very core. The CL represents the pinnacle of club football and the players themselves can’t get motivated enough for that. You KNOW something is wrong when the club is on showcase to the world and they just can’t be bothered to play, that is something entrenched psychologically, in manager and player alike.

What I really would like to know is where are the tactics, where is the balance? The first rule of 2 legged cup matches, DO NOT CONCEDE AT HOME. Yet at the end of the match we had a midfield consisting of 2 no.10s and a winger. Who tracks back, who breaks up the play?

This is not a team that is drilled with ANY attention to defense whatsoever. Defending 101, STAY WITH YOUR MAN, yet Mertesacker does the exact opposite. Had Ox tracked the runner after he lost the ball and had even taken him out, gotten a yellow card chances are we’d need to score 2 goals instead of 3. Why was Monaca given so much space in the build up the goal?

Before we even look at signings we need to look at Wegner and Arsenal, there is something FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG with the team and the tacts we implement, when you tell your full backs to overlap you tell the opposite one to stay back, he along with the DM/CM provide cover for the defense yet BOTH full backs are going forward.

Before any signings are looked at, tactics NEED to be changed.

    1. You say (and I agree) “Defending 101, STAY WITH YOUR MAN” but as we play the pathetic zonal marking rubbish no one in the team has any RESPONSIBILITY for stopping any of our opponents! So that’s the first tactic that should be changed!

  2. Wenger plays football the beatiful way (hence the first 5 minutes) when it works it works, when it doesn’t (refer 8-2/6-0/5-1/3-0) etc etc etc. We all know there is no plan B, he fields 2 ST (WELBECK/SANCHEZ) as a RW/LW, a true #10 as a DM and a turtle as his captain CB.

This team needs balance, (sanchez/giroud/welbeck) are strikers, (Ox/walcott) LW/RW and we have too many CMs like rosiscky/ozil/cazorla/wilshere/ramsay. We must buy schneiderlin/cavani or dybala or lacazette/hummels or howedes/draxler/ … sell podolski/wilshere/welbeck.

If we’re really serious about winning trophies we must sell deadwood and buy real players.

    1. He try’s to play like Barcelona but without the end product (goals and big trophies).

  3. together with Monreal, Kos, Ox, Gibbs, Diaby, Ryo, Sanago, Giroud, Ospina, Sheez and Rosicky all need to be sold toooo

  4. We can win in Monaco If Wenger selects the best players for the match
why didn’t he play Monreal who was brilliant in the last matches ?
Two of Monaco goals was from Gibbs side and he was not in his area !!
    please don’t play Ozil …
Ozil is world class but he can’t do defensive job, so if Wenger want to play him he must bring world class DM.
it will be a risk if Gabriel play , so keep Mert

    Ospina
    Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
    Coquelin….Ox
    Walcott, Cazorla, Alexis
    Giroud

    1. 2 hopes…Bob & No.

Ozil has world class but kitty class application of his talent. Totally ineffective and overatted IMO. Sell him on, make CAZORLA THE no.10 and use/bring him some youth like Gnabry, max Meyer or Ross Barkley.

  5. All these excuses from Wenger. “Well…look uhhh…the wind was blowing south east at 5 kph and that helped Monaco to counterattack.” or maybe “Look uh…we were very unlucky that Mertesacker tripped over an imperfect patch in the grass and Monaco scored again.” lol it’s your fault Wenger just admit it.

  6. Barbatov : “‘Arsenal have very quick players and when they go forward they leave a lot of space at the back,’ said Berbatov. ‘We knew that and we had prepared well and took advantage of it. We knew their weaknesses and we exploited them and I think everyone can agree that we deserved our win.”

Wenger’s predictable tactics and famous weaknesses that is known to the world. We are so easy to plan against and beat.

  7. I’ve had it with Gibbs and Mertesacker in defense. Gibbs is just not a LB anymore. More like an attacking left midfield. I don’t think he defended consistently for 5 minutes without bombing forward like his life depended on it. Mertesacker should never have been brought to the EPL. My grandmother is more agile, and a better defender.

    1. Bang On!! I cant believe how Gibbs can get so much freedom from Wenger to ccontinuously bomb forward without thinking about the spaces left behind. Sometimes he almost plays as left winger leaving us completely exposed. How the heck Wenger allows this ?? Or is he just clueless and has not idea that this is happening ?

  8. No matter how much Giroud improves and scores goals, he will never be a world class. When the defense is tight, chances few and stage BIG, that is when your performance in front of the goal counts if you aim to become World class. He will always be a forward scoring from easier chances/crosses against average teams. But Hey! Wenger loves these kind of big game flops as he is made from the same stuff.

  9. Wenger be like ” The extra tight Puma jerseys hindered the free movement of the players and that is why we lost.”

  10. Admit it Wenger : Ozil is your most expensive blunder of your career. RM must be laughing their socks off right now! I am really starting to doubt if in fact Ozil is World Class. What if he looked awesome because he was surrounded by such superstars at RM and Germany? I am starting to believe he is a good no.10, just not World Class or 50 mil euros player.

    1. Agreed.

When will he show his world ‘classiness’ for more than 1 isolated game (usually against minnows).

Sell him on and buy out the manager so we can break the perpetual cycle and environment of under achievement.

  11. Please let’s all of us try to keep aside that our infamous CL home lose to Monaco FC, untill when the return leg at Stade Louise II is about to take place when we are expected be back on the pundit table. Let’s not forget that we have 3 massive points to fight for to collect them all when the Toffees come calling on the Gunners at the Emirate stadium on Sunday. The boss, the Gunners and we the Gooners have to focus on collecting all the 3 points that are going to be at stake to consolidate our 3rd position standing in the table.

  13. Here is a prime example of the problem:

Giroud telling us that he isn’t far behind Aguero etc in stats. Then coming out with that display.

The players are all stuck in a loop of mediocrity.
