Man City star set for SHOCK switch to Arsenal?

Arsenal have already been linked with this England international star but with his current contract due to run out at the end of this season, it looks like James Milner could finally be coming to join the Gunners soon, according to a Daily Express report that is.

The paper claims that Milner is still holding out on signing a contract extension to stay at Man City, despite the fact that their manager Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear that he wants the versatile player to stay at the Etihad stadium.

Milner’s issue is with his playing opportunities which until this season have been severely limited in the multi-million star studded City squad. It is ironic that Milner has played more games than ever for them this season and has become a key figure for them but apparently he still fears that when the likes of Silva, Nasri and Toure are fit and available he will be back on the bench.

But Arsenal are not exactly short of talented midfielders and wide men ourselves and this could lead Milner to wonder whether he would just be swapping one bench for another. What the Gunners do have to offer, however, is the chance to play alongside England internationals like Wilshere, Walcott, Chamberlain, Welbeck, Gibbs and Chambers and that could be a huge boost to getting him back into Roy Hodgson’s side on a regular basis.

So Arsenal and Liverpool are apparently waiting to pounce and take the 29-year old on a free transfer in the summer. We know that Arsene Wenger loves versatility in a player and with Milner’s tremendous energy, could he be a key addition to the Arsenal squad?

  1. Not happening, Milner will stay with City. He has had plenty of football this year and also he is one of the few homegrown players they have in their squad. They need him and will pay good money for him.

  2. Think as a free agent he would be an excellent buy.
he’s not the most gifted midfield player, but we have enough of those.
He is a calm, reliable, flexible performer who does a good job for the team (wherever he has to play), and he scores goals. He also has experience of what it takes to win titles, and would be an additional leader on and off the field.

  3. James Milner is a decent player BUT I think we have youngsters waiting for their chances in the mid. Give Rosicky another year on his contract as is the case with Arteta. The Likes of Dan Crowly, Beilik and Gnabry will take over as understudies to Jack, Ramsey, Ox, etc. should we require another additional player, then there are better and younger players out there. I still rate Wilfried Zaha.

    1. @Gooner4G
Gnabry has more fight in him than Jack or Aaron. He’s also a better shooter, with better ball skillz than both. And as soon as he comes back he’s gonna bench somebody…

    1. if you have been following Milner this season he as performed very well in ATt mid areas wether it be Central or both sides we don’t need him as we are well covered in those areas.

  4. He’s not what we are looking for. DM and striker is the big must at arsenal for the new season. I think ship a few out for good

  5. Milner is the only player I would take from City. He’s got a serious work rate, a damn good impact player and digs in deep when needed. We could use someone of his caliber, we only have about 4 or3 guys on our squad who got real fight in em.

        1. Just curious as to how kompany wouldn’t fit into our ‘set up’ tbh ? …. We both play a back four ! Hahaha

Or aguero for that matter ….

    1. And ppl thumbed you up, lol.

Though I have to say I was a big fan of David Silva before he went to city. Glad that he proved his worth and proved barca as foolish for passing him up.

  6. I see most fans here saying things like “we have Wilshere we don’t need Milner”, like seriously? Wilshere the overhyped player who still thinks he is a kid that still needs time to fulfill his potential and so will continue playing garbage till he is 30? For those of you who think Wilshere is good player you better wake up and face reality.Wilshere will never improve his game more than the level it is today so if you ask me to choose between Milner and Wilshere I will pick Milner with no second thought.Milner is versatile and can play in CM.
