Latest reports claim that Manchester United will bypass the opportunity to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal this winter.
The German international is inside the final 12 months of his contract at present, and is being linked with a number of clubs for a move in either January or next summer.
Manchester United has been touted as one possible destination, with Barcelona believed to also be high on his wishlist, but latest reports claim the former way overlook the chance to bring him to Old Trafford.
Duncan Castles has claimed that Ozil is no better than current options Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and despite Mourinho being a fan from their time together at Real Madrid, he will now take his interest elsewhere.
“Mourinho does like him as a player. He’s got that combination of creativity and tactical awareness that he likes,” Castles said.
“But the information I’m getting is that Ozil’s not the player he plans to add to the team next summer.
“He’s already worked out the areas he wants to improve in.
“He always had a three summer transfer window plan for Manchester United.
“What I’m told he wants is a player who is better than what he’s got at the moment and they don’t see Ozil as being better than what he’s got in terms of that central, creative, attacking midfielder.
“Where he does want to recruit is in a faster wide player which isn’t Ozil’s forte.
“I think it’s unlikely that’s the club he ends up at when he has his freedom on contract in the summer.”
Is Ozil better than Mkhi or Mata? Would he be an automatic starter at United? Is he even an automatic starter at Arsenal now?

I think Ozil is better than Juan Mata but he is not better than Henrik Mhkytarian . Mhky scores more goals and this season will assist more than Ozil. I would love to have him at our club .

Manchester United already has another attacking midfielder that can read the game and more agile than Ozil, he is Mkhitaryan. Maybe Barcelona would try to get Ozil in January, because Dembele is injured, he is cheap and he is still a big name.
I am sure there will be many clubs chasing Ozil in January, because he would be available at a very low price. From t-shirt and merchandising sales aspect alone, getting Ozil is very lucrative.
As long as we get decent money, why not? We all know he will not sign with us unless we are his best offer. Which is a bit sad because Arsenal played him every game even if the tactics would have required otherwise. The sooner we dispose of both of them and allow hungry players to play the game, the better for the team. Wenger must start rebuilding from this January because there will be a huge inflation in the summer after the World Cup. I am also fine if we promote two or three from the U21 squad (AMN, Jeff, Akpom, Nelson, Bielik, Vlad Dragomir). Something must happen because the clock is already ticking.
Wenger has repeatedly claimed he sees no purpose for the January window…in fact he would prefer if it was removed completely. Yea so don’t expect any signing…maybe some 50K kid for the academy but no first team player. As for the summer the world cup gives Wenger the perfect excuse to claim no player was available they were all representing their countries. We may actually end up signing no one again even if we lose Ozil and Sanchez…Wenger might just say Wilshere/the returning Cazorla and Welbeck/Lacazette can replace them…after all, our squad is oversize….
Mata changed his mindset, Ozil can also. If Ozil doesn’t change his mindset of ‘don’t care attitude’ then Mata will be better. But Henrik is far better than Ozil. With this kind of lacklustre performance, he is not gonna survive under Maurinho. Maurinho doesn’t pamper players like Wenger
