Man United v Arsenal Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

At least Arsenal fans should be going into today’s game against Man United with a bit more confidence than they had against Barcelona on Tuesday night. We may not have won at Old Trafford since Adebayor scored the only goal in 2006, but Louis van Gaal’s team is decimated by injuries and are dropping away from the Top Four like a stone.

It is crucial that we don’t slip up though and we need at least one of strikers to find his scoring boots and I’m going to put my money on Theo Walcott coming good today, maybe assisted by Olivier Giroud?

I certainly don’t think that Wenger is going to take any chances and will stick to (what he thinks is) his best team, which means the same side that played Barca but without Oxlade-Chamberlain who I, for one, am not going to miss!

So here is today’s line-up:

Giroud
Walcott Ozil Sanchez
Coquelin Ramsey
Monreal Koscielny Mertesacker Bellerin
Cech

Gabriel has resumed training, but I am certain Wenger will not throw him in straight away. He has always trusted the Koscielny-Mertesacker partnership and he will stick with that until Gabs get’s match fit against lower opposition.

Many people want Le Prof to take a chance on Danny Welbeck as a starter instead of either Giroud or Walcott, but Wenger has already stated that it will take the England man a bit of time to get back to his best form. He said: “Welbeck is back in the squad but we still have to be cautious with him. He is still in the squad and he is not completely over his knee problem. He has done really well and is very fit. I have to analyse that.” So I’m predicting he will be on the bench and brought on for the last half hour or so, depending on circumstances. Otherwise we will have our familiar first XI.

Score Prediction…
Man United 0-1 Arsenal (Walcott 41)

  1. I hope we don’t bottle it,in order for us to win the best place for Giroud is on the bench with Welbeck starting upfront!

    1. wasn’t this the same pathetic line-up (as outlined in the article) that started against barca (save for the Ox) ??

Sure as heLL, we never learn!

      1. Lol snazz you take the biscuit for that one. That team held the best team in the world at bay for 70 minutes. And now you think they are rubbish? Pathetic line up indeed……

  2. This is a huge opportunity to put down a marker as genuine title contenders and would set us up nicely for the derby.
Come on Arsenal lets show the doubters what we’re capable of.

  3. we need players with hunger:

    cech
    bellerin chambers boss nacho
    lecoq ramsey
    cambell ozil sanchez
    welbeck

    2nil to gunners

  4. Would love to see the work rate of Campbell and Sanchez out there together! Not sure why Campbell isn’t playing more?

  5. After the Southampton game, Wenger seemed to lay the blame at Campbell’s door by demoting him below Ox, Theo and Welbeck. The performances since then tend to show that this was incorrect, and tbh I think everyman and his dog knew that. Campbell for me has to come back in on the right and back up Bellerin. They are big buddies, back each other up well and make our right buzz most of the time. Similarly, you have to play Alexis and Monreal through the left channel. Yes Aixis has been disappointing compared to his earlier best, but it is only a matter of time until quality and form returns. Ozil picks himself, as does the back four and cech (with Gab still out). Without Santi, it has to be Rambo and Coq at the moment.

So front depends upon our attack statagy. If we go counter attack has to be Theo

  6. Suspect wenger will go for safety …. So Walcott for ox … If so it will be a hard fought 1 all draw

Would like to see coq and elneny in middle and welbeck and iwobi starting more hunger and movement against a ropey defence … More open more goals but could come out as winners which is a must here ..loosing to barca and then man utd would send a business as usual signal to other clubs
