Man Utd perfect game to get Arsenal over Barcelona?

It has not been the best of starts to the calendar year of 2016 for Arsenal. It has not been the worst either, but after a great December and festive period, things have got a bit sticky for the Gunners. There have been some good moments like beating our title rivals Leicester City and we are still in the FA cup even though we now have to squeeze a replay with Hull into the congested schedule.

After losing to Barcelona in the Champions League and failing to score once again though, I think we can all agree that Arsenal need something to spark a run of results and so I reckon the game against Manchester United on Sunday comes at the perfect time for us.

We may be struggling to some extent but United are having a much worse time of things. That is highlighted by the fact the the Gunners are the favourites to win a match at Old Trafford for the first time since the Premier League was formed.

Louis van Gaal is under huge pressure and if they fail to overturn the 2-1 deficit in the Europa League tonight that will only increase. Even if they do go through it will hardly be a glorious moment for them because everyone was expecting them to breeze past the Danish champions FC Midtjylland.

Van Gaal is beset by problems, not least of which is having 14 first team players on the injury list. So even if he did want to rest players and rotate for their game tonight and the EPL match against us on Sunday he would not be able to.

And with the Arsenal forwards struggling to find the net in recent weeks, the fact that the United defence is the area of the squad that has been hit hardest by injuries could be just the thing to get us firing again.

Arsenal need to make the most of all this of course, but is a game against an injury ravaged and out of form Man United just what we need right now?

Looks like we’ll have to be worried about Man utd’s rashford. The boy’s movement and positioning is very good

The Danes blew it once they put on Sanogo’s brother up front…Dude is a joke, slows down their counter attack.

If United is what we need to make ourselves feel like world beaters then we have truly fallen. Winning against them should be expected with the way how poor they’ve been this season. If we struggle against them just know it’s proof that Wenger has lied to you about this squad being good enough.

Do you remember the penalty Eboue gave away to Liverpool at the last minute?…and never played again after that.
Does anyone have a bad feeling about Flamini (vs Barcelona)?

wenger must accept responsibility for retaining flam after last year. he shyouldve been let go and replaced by a wanyama or similar. its wenger’s fault for tryinig to get by on the minimal spend.

Flamini should not be here, not just bcoz of this penalty. We want perfect DM to compete with Coq.

we played pretty well for 70min. then we forgot our plan which was to sit back and counter. wenger is prob too soft on the players. they need discipline to focus for entire 90. when they thought “hey, we’re keeping up w barca: lets try to score a goal” thats when we become undone.

versus MU: let them have the 60% possession like we did earlier in teh season. and counter. maybe put theo up front. or pair giroud & welbeck.

We can’t lose if we do, prem is gone. we need to start to smash teams 4 nil 5 nil our goal difference is a discrace every season and I would hate the feeling of losing out on the prem due to goal difference to the f#^]{ing spuds!!!!!!!!!!

Strange game against manure it will be. They have some fine players who can hurt us. But we have some players who can stand against good attacking players.

now. can we score a goal knowing that we are so awfull infront of the goal. where giroud is our main goal thread?

or can manure find a way to past our well build defence with cech behind the bars.

or welbeck bec super troll, and scores and makes everyone happy, some manure welbeck fan girls and arsenal fans.

Wellbeck looked good to me- think we’ll se him in the Man U game – perhaps not starting though. Really hope Sanchez hits top form – we need him to be – he’s had a bad night against Barca with some very wayward shots/passes

Like to see more of Elneny – looks a good and very necessary purchase to me
