Moura urged to join Arsenal? Where would he fit in our side?

Former Brazilian international defender Alex has urged Lucas Moura to join Arsenal.

The midfielder has fallen out of favour with Paris Saint-Germain this season, following the arrivals of megabucks duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and is struggling for game time at present.

Moura has to vie with the likes of the above, as we all Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Javier Pastore and Hatem Ben Arfa for appearances, and he has been urged to move on in search of regular action.

“If I was in his place, I would have already left to make an impact elsewhere,” Alex said.

“Spanish football could suit him – he could take advantage of the space with his speed and technique.

“Even if England does not seem favourable, I would like to see him at Arsenal.

“They play cleaner football, more technical.”

With the prospect of losing Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil before next season, it will be essential to bring in a top replacement or two into the squad, and the French giants could be a good place to start.

We have been linked with moves for Cavani, Julian Draxler, Adrien Rabiot and Moura, and their wealth of options could well lead them to agreeing to sell.

Moura arrived in Paris with a huge rating from Brazil, but has failed to set the league alight, but his ability remains for all to see. The Brazilian will never match the goalscoring prowess of his rivals at his club, but has a record of better than a goal for every five matches in Ligue 1, and could well flourish under new tutelage.

Arsenal’s style of play is believed to be of benefit to him, but would he be a worthy replacement for Ozil or Alexis?

  1. I have seen Moura played several years ago in a big Champions League match. He tore the opponent’s defense apart with his dribblings, but I don’t know whether he still possesses the same abilities or not.

According to his statistics in the French league last season, he scored eleven goals from 36 league appearances, so he is still very sharp like Lacazette. Whether he is suitable or not for Arsenal, Arsenal should look for an attacking midfielder like the Spanish attacking midfielders that played tonight.

Spain showed how a great attacking midfielder and playmaker is supposed to be. Isco, Silva and Thiago pressurized and tackled the opponents in many areas in the field, forcing the opponents to make mistakes.

Arsenal only have Sanchez that is highly skillful, can take on the defenders and pressurizes the opponents, like Isco, Silva and Thiago. So if Moura has similar work ethic and have good vision like those midfielders, Arsenal should get him soon.

  2. I love the part where he said we play cleaner football, having said that, Moura is not a bad player to have at all, I believe he is in a Sanchez situation, he already has it in him but not given enough chances…

I covet all the PSG players mentioned in the post…Rabiot for Elneny, Moura for Ozil and Draxler for Sanchez is not too bad…..*smiles*….

  3. No no no .. can we stop buying attacking players !!.. Draxler for Sanchez is fine as like for like and younger…if Ozil wants to go lets take a decision now and say sign or you wont be first choice… use that money to get a top quality CB as Kos is injured more and more …
Thats it and then build a team… Reiss can be given cameo roles and I am sure Giroud / Welbeck will be happy if Walcott leaves.

    1. We can’t stop signing attackers
We need to always sign attacking players if we want to compete with top teams. City for example have Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva and probably will add Alexis. If other teams add or upgrade attackers so do we

Especially in summer if we lose both Alexis and Ozil. We will need two attacking midfielders/forward.

But I agree we need to get another top CB. We also need to upgrade central midfield with a Cazorla type player and defensive midfielder
