Napoli star hints at January transfer after Arsenal scout him

There are hardly any Arsenal transfer rumours flying around the football press at the minute, but do not fret Gooners because there will be many more than you can keep track of as the January transfer window approaches.

There is a new one doing the rounds this week and it has got some substance to it, or at the very least has been brought about by the appearance of a game involving the Serie A club Napoli. It has been reported that the scout was sent by Arsene Wenger to run the rule over the Italian club´s young central midfield talent Jorginho.

The 23-year was born in Brazil but moved to Italy at a young age and has dual nationality and he joined Napoli almost two years ago but did not really make much progress there while Rafa Benitez was in charge. The club clearly thought highly of him though, because they bought up the remainder of his contract and Jorginho has repaid them with some great performances this season.

His agent has talked up the possibility of a move to the Premier League with Arsenal though, according to a Goal.com report, after learning that our scouts were checking out his client.

Joao Santos told an Italian radio station, “I don’t know if the Arsenal scouts were in Genoa for Jorginho. I’m not surprised that the player is doing very well – especially in light of the change of coach – and that top clubs are interested in him.

“One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match. Right now we’re more thinking about Jorginho at Napoli than the transfer market.

“I’m in Brazil, and when I’m back we can discuss my client’s contract. The priority is getting a call-up for the national team, then there’s the January transfer market.

“If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho in January then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments.”

He certainly does not sound averse to a transfer bid from us, so check this young player out if you get a chance.
