New injury blow is actually Perfect for Arsenal

Most Arsenal fans could understand the thinking of Arsene Wenger when he made the decision to start David Ospina in goal for the first Champions League group game away to Dinamo Zagreb. After all, the Colombian international was a very impressive and reliable performance for the Gunners last season and we all expected even a weakened Arsenal side to come away from the Croatian club with all three points.

After we had lost that game though, it was a lot harder for people to understand the decision of the manager to keep Ospina in the starting line up for the second group game at home to Olympiacos. Hindsight is a great thing of course and after Ospina´s schoolboy error was directly responsible for yet another defeat, the boss was roundly slated for not turning to Petr Cech.

Whether he would have stuck to his guns once more for the third and now critical group game at home to Bayern Munich is debatable, especially with some parts of the football media suggesting that Wenger had promised his number two all the cup games.

Thankfully for Arsenal fans and possibly Wenger himself, that decision has been taken away from him as The Mirror has reported that Ospina is not available due to a shoulder injury. Have we ever been so pleased to hear of an Arsenal player getting injured?

  1. Listen Baby Please

It’s never good for an Arsenal player or any player to get an injury

Are you kidding me on a DAILY?

  2. Ospina has made very few mistakes at all. The fact that it took a keeper of Cech’s ability to better him is probably a complimemt.

Some people really need to get off the bandwagon. Ospina wasn’t even our worst player in the last CL game.

    1. This author should never write an article AGAIN he says “after his schoolboy error was directly responsible for yet another defeat” how was the first game ospina’s fault in any way shape or form. Ospina is top quality and can become world class learning from cech

  3. It’s no good news on the Gooners front to hear of any Gunner getting injured. Ospina’s shoulder injury has naturally been overtaking by the optition of Petr Cech starting the our Ucl game against Bayern Munich. Let our prayers be with Ospina to have a speedy recovery to possibly start the Capital One Cup game. away to Sheffield Wednessday. On a more serious current issue, the Gunners MUST never allow the Baravian outfit to control the tempo of game and thus dictate the pace of it tomorrow night at the Emirates Stadium. This is the strategy Pep Guardiola and his Bavarian side planned to employ against the Boss and the Gunners to disfuse their Game App Data Memory Plan they intent to use to unlock Pep Guardiola’s and his Bavarians outfit Game App Data Memory Plan to inflict them with a 3-0 final scoreline at the end of the game.

  5. When I saw him on the ground, I thought he wasn’t getting up,” the Argentine told reporters. “Then when I saw that he’d gotten up to make the save, I wanted to die.”

The above quote is Lional Messi after the recent Copa America quarter-final between Colombia and Argentina. He is talking about Ospina who was on the ground because he had just saved a shot from Aguero. Game ended 0-0 so went to penalties.

Ospina being injured is a blow. What happens if cech gets injured? This article is nonsense. Also cech has conceded 7 goals in 9 league appearances this season. Last season Ospina conceded 11 goals in 18 appearances.

  7. What a stupid article and what a stupid conclusion if it can be called like that. First of all, blaming Ospina for the defeat is at least retarded. There were two more goals easily avoidable if the team had worked their socks off. Secondly no replay proved the ball was behind the line so with TV replay this would not have been given. Yes, it was a mistake but far from being the decisive one. Sanchez equalized and the next second Olympiacos scored again. From the left. Like seriously.

  8. Oh please ospina was not to blame for the loss. We had equalised after his mistake, after that the lack of professionalism from the restart from the whole team resulted in a third goal being conceded. Ospina hasn’t turned into a poor keeper, he is still a good keeper ok he is no Cech but still a very good keeper. Having said that I am happier Cech is playing tonight it represents a greater chance to get something from the game.
