Now Arsenal have the squad, are we right to dream?

Arsenal won 4-1 yesterday making it 8 wins in our last 9 matches with just one blip in the draw with Middlesbrough. We have immensely strengthened our squad in the summer with the arrivals of Rob Holding, Shkrodan Mustafi, Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka and we now have the necessary depth to cope with our regular losses to injury.

Yesterday’s 4-1 win may have taken a while to arrive, but the fact that we had a bench consisting of David Ospina, Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey, Gabriel, Holding and Jenkinson shows just how deep the talent goes. And that was with Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott given a rest, and with Xhaka suspended. In the new Year we will get Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker returned to the squad as well. All this makes us look more than capable of coping with a few injuries over the season.

Kieran Gibbs, who has recently come back to the team to replace Monreal, was asked about the squad depth after yesterday’s game, and he said: “That’s obviously the difference and I feel that’s been the difference for a few years with the club. It’s about a squad game and we need to keep everyone fit, that’s the most important thing because there’s depth and quality in the squad. We need to utilise that throughout the season and make sure everyone’s ready because you can be called upon at any time.”

So with all those players, and the confidence we have built up with our long unbeaten run, surely we can really believe that this could be our season at last and finally regain the Premier League trophy?

  1. We certainly have the squad to go all the way, and the competition should increase the hunger of the players on the bench, especially when they have the lure of a Premier League title at the end.

I don’t see why we can’t dream. It is still early but we are definitely in with a chance. I just pray that Sanchez and Ozil don’t get injured.

  2. Next 2 Premier League matches will tell.. Home to S*uds, it’s a must win really.

Then away trip to Mugchester Divided. Remember last year? United were in crisis when we visited Old Fartford but still managed to win us with fringe players.

  3. The squad is gud. Am glad we took our time with Giroud and Rambo. In the past we shall rush players . Now we trust each other more .
Gibbs has also Bn very impressive . That’s why it’s important not to bash squad players as we need everyone .

We cannot wish good health to Ozil and Sanchez alone . We need everyone . Ozil for example had a nightmare infront of goal but Giroud did the job. Everyone has a role to play and let’s respect all our players .

November has arrived and we may hv Theo, Nacho and Cazorla back. I am glad we didn’t take a risk on them. Hopefully they are all in the squad for spurs and together with Giroud Rambo and Xhaka bk it is wonderful news and great management by Mr Wenger.

    1. I think Admin should introduce a gold star as well as keeping the thumbs. The gold star could be for the best comment you reckon throughout the whole day, or even a week, and whoever you last plant with the star that’s were it ends up. Galen, my first gold star goes to you unless I read something I deem better at a later time. Congrats on your first gold star dude and keep up the good support.

  4. Walcott & Cazorla rested yet we had a very strong bench and still had a few who didn’t make the bench, injuries too, along with a bunch of hungry looking hopefuls in the academy. We do have a good enough squad, but there are other factors. Like when you say you pray Ozil and Alexis don’t get injured, that would be a massive blow, maybe a killer blow. Injuries can still hurt us, we’re stronger all over the pitch but a teams first team players, are as ever, the most crucial, you need to not lose too many at once no matter how solid you believe the squad looks. And knowing our luck if we were to lose four or five players at any given time two or three of them would probably be all in the one area, a little like how we lost our creative mid centrals all at once. The squad does look strong though, last season and the one before it almost everyone said City easily have the best squad. For us to be even in the argument with what they’ve spent just goes to show you we’ve made a couple of big strides in the right direction. We all knew this anyway but sometimes it can be difficult to get others to acknowledge it. The players seem to have matured and I’d say the competition has allot to do with it.

  5. Yea it’s a really good squad…but what we need now is proper management of these players… fr xample not getting carried away by giroud brace n stick to bringing him from the bench n continue Alexis as false9. knowing monreal isn’t in form and playing Gibbs, resting Walcott against ludogorets thereby avoiding him going for international break n fully rested for the week we face spurs, psg n united

  6. We can destroy any team in the league anywhere at the moment,we’ve got the needed squad depth to last the season.I am convinced that we’ll have the last laugh come May.
